Disgusting service!!! Bad attitude and extremely rude. Place is tiny, loud and uncomfortable. My husband LOVED this place, but now will never return due to the horrible attitude and service that every employee here demonstrated, especially the fat man(owner?) at the desk. Stay away PS menu is not updated on all formats — CAUTION they probably won’t have what you’re planning on and they would rather you leave them to simply accommodate a paying guest.

Made 8:45 reservations at the Kaiser Grill, and wanted to go somewhere for a drink before, as I was walking up the strip I saw two open seats at Pomme Fritts’ bar and went in. My first impression was this wasn’t your typical«trendy» PS hangout, it was a little old fashioned, very cozy feeling and there was a «busy restaurant» vibe. We ordered a couple of basic cocktails(crown and ginger ale and a gin and tonic) witch the bar tender, whom we later found out was one of the owners, made very well. We struck up a conversation with the people sitting next to us, there were only four seats at the bar, and found out that one of them use to work here, and she really talked up the place so we decided to order dinner here instead of Kaiser Grill, and ate at the bar. We had a beat/goat cheese Napoleon to start, and the traditional steamed mussels served in a large pot like it came right off of the stove, it had a vegetable broth with leaks and was served with Pomme Fritts. The portions were generous the food was fresh and delicious and the ambiance was entertaining. We were by the well and had fun being in the hustle bustle of the dinner service and speaking with the owner Sun. I had a Chimay with my dinner and a crem brûlée for desert, all the food was excellent! Come here to enjoy the food and ambiance, don’t expect to rush in and out, this quality is worth the wait.

Our server was beyond excellent. She went above and beyond. The food was wonderful. The French onion soup exceeds most restaurants.

Service was pretty darn good, food was excellent, location is great. The owner is French so he will not bow down to all Americans like some expect. I got the sole and my wife got the angel hair pasta with shrimp. It was very, very good. They were patient with out small kids and I would go back again.

I was going to write a 4 or 5 star review. The food was pretty good. I’m normally not a mashed potato fan, but they were really good. But, I wish I had seen the other ratings before I went. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. First, I had to endure another waiter b*tch at the cashier about some customers and seemed like they were really botching the customers’ check. Well, I’m sorry they had such trouble with that table’s check, but they didn’t need to take it out on me. I needed to pay for the food separately from the drinks(business card– they don’t pay for alcohol). The waiter, who was fine until then, said that I had to pay for the drinks in cash since they were less than $ 20(they were $ 14). Absolutely nowhere did it say that was their policy. I had only a few dollars in cash… I explained the situation, and they still insisted I had to pay cash. I ended up ordering another glass of wine which I didn’t even drink. I’d had enough and I was so furious and humiliated I just left. This really tainted my last night here. I will be returning to Palm Springs again, but I will never go back there and I will warn EVERYONE before they go, as well as the hundreds of conference attendees I see each year. I am just so disgusted by this experience.

My boyfriend’s FAVORITE placed in the world. Till now. He would come here every year and get their frites and steak. This year, he took me. I was so excited to share his favorite things, as he was raised in Germany and missed home. The owner was rude from the getgo. He was annoyed that we wanted to sit outside instead of the stuffy interior room. But he seated us outside with only a slight roll of his eyes and sigh. We ordered wine, beer, and I got the French Onion soup, which is stellar, by the way. Our server was wonderful. He kept our drinks full, and described the menu to us. I asked which was better, the filet with crab and Béarnaise, or the lamb with a cabernet reduction. He said lamb. I chose lamb. My boyfriend got rib eye and frites. My potato croquettes that came with the lamb were ice cold. The«Cabernet reduction» was flavorless; and the lamb itself was not medium but rare and had this odd fishy taste. I not only order lamb out frequently but prepare it at home as well and know my lamb. This was a bad lamb.(This is God punishing me for eating baby animals, I know!) I sent back the plate. My BF had a cold steak but his fries were wonderful so we ate those. And he didn’t complain about his steak. The owner came by, and proceeded to argue with me, loudly, arrogantly. «HOWCANLAMBBEFISHY??? I have talked to my cook. It is not possible!» And on and on, like my dumb American ass could not possibly know what a good taste in my mouth was. I let him go on. We finished our drinks, and our server came and apologized. I said to him, «The owner is horrible! Who does that???» and our server looked at me and said, «Try working for him.» Our bill was still $ 117 without the lamb, and I tipped our sweet waiter generously. I hope he didn’t catch too much flak for our lamb debacle. My boyfriend, who is kind of the strong, silent type, called the owner over. He told the owner how much he had enjoyed his prior visits and how he never got bad food here before, that maybe it was an off night but that the way he treated me when I sent my plate back was not acceptable and we(and anyone we talked to) would not be back to his establishment again. The owner AGAIN started a tirade. «She(and he pointed at me without even looking my way while yelling into my boyfriend’s face with what can only be described as the halitosis with the most-est)) doesn’t like ANYTHING!» This was a pivotal moment because God Bless my boyfriend for not strangling the man. My sweet BF just said, with that deadly quiet, even voice, «Word of mouth, my friend, is just as powerful when it’s negative as when it’s positive. We will not be back.» It was a horrible way to be treated. We had gone to Johnny Costa’s the night before and not only was the food delicious(every course) but the service was wonderful and the manager gracious. It is my boyfriend’s NEW favorite place in Palm Springs. Unfortunately this establishment will get lots of walk-ins based on its prime location. Miserably bland and improperly prepared food that the arrogant owner feels you should be lucky to be eating as he breathes his very, very bad breath onto you as he sputters insults your way. Very sad waste of good real estate and a great concept. And nice waiters who really deserve a good boss.

I will start by saying I will never be back. Here is why… bad service. Doesn’t matter if your food is decent, if the service is not good, customers won’t return. It started by asking if chicken could be added to a Caesar salad. The response was, order the pasta with chicken. REALLY? It just continued. My husband ordered mussels and did not get what he ordered. When he said it was the wrong type, the waitress was called to the back. Awkward! The remaining three people ate while he waited for his order. Additionally, the other couple ordered appies and wanted them spaced out. That didn’t happen, and one chose to have the kitchen hold their escargot while they ate their salad. What really ended this so poorly for us, was the check. When we first sat, we asked for two checks for our party of four. When the checks arrived, they were wrong. When we sent them back, they returned and were still wrong. How hard is this? We were so disgusted, we just wanted to pay it to get out of there. It took so long for them to run our cards, that a member of our party got up to find out what was going on and causing such delay. I typically tip 18−20% as a standard, and more for real good service. Tonight was the second time ever that I chose not to leave a tip. Bottom line, go somewhere else. There are much better choices for your dollar.

Excellent, reasonable Belgian food and beer here! DH and I had a wonderful experience when we came here to celebrate our six month wedding anniversary. The atmosphere outside was not as romantic as I was hoping(busy Palm Springs late on Saturday night), but the host and server were nice and welcoming, and the weather was perfect. I ordered the warm goat cheese salad, which was exactly as I remembered from a restaurant called«Taste of Belgium» right down to the salad dressing itself(Ahhmazing). Hubby raved over his French onion soup. The mussels were good as well– medium sized, fresh and juicy. The frites were a little thick for us, we like them thin and more traditional. Overall, we decided we would be back again. I would like to try their escargot(imported from France)!

Food was wonderful. Meatballs for me & chicken Vol au Vent for B(but we shared as usual). Great selection of Belgium beers, including several Trappist brews. Server was fantastic. Bread pudding was good. Lost a star because of the rude reception when we arrived.

A small, cute restaurant that specializes in Belgian dishes. They have both indoor and patio seating. After choosing a carafe of a nice central coast syrah, some bread was brought to the table. Wanting something truly Belgian, I ordered the chicken vol au vent; a puff pastry with shredded chicken and mushrooms in a creamy white sauce. It came with a side of pomme frites(french fries!). I enjoyed the dish although the flavors were very mild(I would say«bland» but that usually has negative connotations, which is not my intention, but this is not a dish for people who prefer spicy food). My only complaint was that while the pastry was mostly light and crisp, the bottom was hard and difficult to cut through. The fries were superb and had accompanying dipping sauces(ketchup, mayo and a spicy sauce) For dessert I ordered the white and dark chocolate mousses combo. The dark chocolate was deep and rich. The white chocolate was light and to my taste buds had sort of a buttercream flavor. Both were perfectly light and fluffy in texture. Both sat in a wonderful crème anglaise. Service was okay but her mind seemed to be elsewhere(one example: she asked what we would like to drink and I told her what I wanted and she immediately left before my dining companion gave her order). Definitely a place for a great meal when in Palm Springs.

4.5 stars. My husband and I come here each time we visit Palm Springs. The owner can be a bit gruff but we really love the food. We love their artichoke appetizer but they were out of it on this night. My husband had the pork chop with a mustard sauce; it was delicious. He also enjoys their wide selection of Belgium beers. I always order the mussels and they were perfectly cooked. We usually have to wait for an outside table even with reservations but the bartender Rob was friendly while we waited. A special thanks to Gloria who is part of the cleaning crew and when I returned the next day had found my Fitbit that I had ironically dropped at the bar.

The inside of this place will transport you to Europe. I went here for dinner and had a very enjoyable experience. Foodwise we had the filet medallions and mussels in a pot(I forgot the exact kind); they were both highly satisfactory(the dessert sampler was good too). As a sidenote, we were extremely pleased with how well we were treated given that this is a grown-up restaurant and we were there with our 4-year old son(who, admittedly, is pretty good at conducting himself in such environs). The staff was accomodating and we did not get any attitude whatsoever in this regard. If you are in search of an authentic French-Belgian experience, this place gets my recommendation.

36 Belgian Beers and Belgian food. There really isn’t much more that needs to be said. Excellent attentive service, everything on the menu has been consistently prepared to perfection. You can never go wrong with the specials. You can sit inside or out. We usually sit outside so we can people watch when the weather is nice. When it’s cold, we like to sit inside where it’s nice and cozy and you certainly get to know your neighbors. Must have the pomme frites so you can feel like you’re in Belgium with your mayonnaise to dip your fries into. The beer menu is amazing with at least a paragraph written about each beer. If you’re not really hungry try their cheese plate. Don’t forget to sample the wonderful desserts.

4.5 Stars — just what the Dr. ordered! Great service, great ambiance, great food and beautiful wine. Stumbled onto pomme frite and came in here about 10 pm on a Tuesday. Lucky me! We kept it lite and had the appetiser — cheese plate, pâté plate, escargot and steak tare tare. And a very nice chabli wine. Heather loved the goats and blue cheese and even the tare tare. I loved it all! Do yourself a favour and try the mousse for dessert and Heather says the crème brûlée was AMAZING… Service was perfect! Not having to search for them or hovering too much.

Stopped by for thanksgiving dinner! This is one of the places you can tell from the reviews that the food is fantastic and the service may not be so great which is why there are so many 1 star reviews… so during my experience here the service was fantastic and the food was even better!!! Started with the French onion soup which was uniquely served and the cheese was amazingly frosted on top… had escargot which was tasty then main course of mussels served in huge pot with amazing sauce/soup…drank it all… was really fresh and clean. The beef tartar is one of the best ones I have ever had with avocado mixed in it… the fries are thicker but crunchy… not so impressed with the flat steak as it was thick and pre-cut in slices. Overall really good meal to be honest with you!

We love this place. There are many good places to eat on Palm Canyon Drive. But Pomme Frite is a gem. We try to stop in at least once when we’re in the desert. I love the filet medallions and the sirloin is good too. The husband usually has the stroganoff(which he loves) but tonight he tried the cow au vin. He loved it. Highly recommended. If I had to say something bad, I might take away half a star for not being on OpenTable. That’s OK – you can do it old school and call for a reservation.

My husband and I are locals and live in Palm Springs year round. We love going to the Pomme Frite. We always dine on their outdoor patio. If we are having a hot day and wanting to dine out, we just wait till the sun goes down, as it usually cools down here in the desert after night fall. The food at Pomme Frite is always superb, as is the service. However, on Friday night August 14 — 2015, we had a bad experience at Pomme Frite. We had made reservations for patio dining at 8:30pm. Unfortunately we are in a major heat wave and was still in the triple digits even at 8:30pm. We arrived at Pomme Frite and they had a sign out side saying«Cool Inside». There were plenty of available tables inside, so we asked to move our reservations to a table inside. The owner was happy to accommodate us on that. They seated us in one of the rooms that is not their main dining room. Unfortunately it was a miserable dining experience because it was not much cooler inside from outside. We sweated through our entire meal. I did complain to the waiter about the heat & he apologized. After we settled up our bill, I went to the owner who was behind the bar at the time and asked her if she knew how hot it was out in her dining room. She new. Really? She new & was not concerned about it. WOW! I told her that for a high end restaurant like this that is should be very cool for the customers in there. She wanted to give me excuses like — «It’s so hot outside that the unit can’t keep up». I told her that’s no excuse cause a place like McDonalds that serves crap food can keep their dining room cold for customers. I also told her that she needs to get that unit checked because it’s not right to charge customers the amount they do & them have to sweat through a meal. She tried to blame it on me, the customer, saying I should of asked to be moved. Um NO… you should have ALL your dining rooms very comfortable for your customers. As a business owner, you should know that the customer is ALWAYS right. SHAMEONYOUFORTRYINGTOPUTTHEBLAMEONYOURCUSTOMER, WHENITBOILSDOWNTOYOUTHATWANTSTOSAVEMONEY! If your AC unit is not working correctly or you need a bigger unit… then fix it! Show your customers that you care about them and want them to come back! We paid nearly $ 100 for just me and my hubby to eat on this night. Alcohol was only 1 beer each on this ticket. I would think that would merit comfortable conditions to dine in for an upstanding restaurant like Pomme Frite. I would of also thought that the owner would try to compensate us so that we would«want» to come back, especially since we are locals. We bring family and friends to dine at this restaurant when they come to visit us. I may not be so inclined to do that anymore now, because the owner at Pomme Frite ended up being rude and only said she hoped the next time at Pomme Frite would be better. I did tell her that I was going to report this online and all she could do is say it wasn’t fair on her. Well in that case, YOUSHOULDOFBEENNICER and at least told me you was glad I brought it to your attention & you would get it looked at right away. No voucher was offered either for our inconvenience. Again, the only thing the owner did was try to blame us for her lame attempt at keeping her clients comfortable and happy. I’m not the owner of Pomme Frite and you will not blame me for a miserable dining room. So bottom line… it will be some time before I will consider dinning at your restaurant again, due to your rude attitude and lack of empathy. 1 bad dining experience can ruin a ton of good ones. Normally I’d give you 5 stars, but this really hurt your review from me. I’m only giving 1 star because you can’t give 0 stars. Remember…in this world… you reap what you sow and KARMA… well we all know what KARMA is. So stop being rude to your customers and make sure they have an awesome dining experience(no matter what the weather is like). If you do that, you will go far and be very successful!

First time eating at this French Belgian restaurant. I had escargots that was too salty that I had to use less of the sauce to eat it. The north Atlantic salmon fillet I had was a little dry. They’re named as one of the best French restaurants in Palm Springs then I just felt like the food I ordered wasn’t like at the quality that I wanted especially for the price. My friend seems to be fine with the pacific sole fillets she ate with tartar sauce. The Grand Marnier Crème Burlee was really delicious so I highly recommend that dessert. It’s always good to try new restaurants when you travel around.

Ok so perhaps my fault for the choice of restaurant as ‘Mussels Frit’ is my bucket list absolute fav. food period … So here we are walking down the main drag in Palm Springs and find a joint that specializes in it. Long story short they must have pulled the mussels easy too early(rookie error) as ~30% of them were unopened and some that were, were sloppy like an oyster. The reason for the slam score however, wasn’t so much the undercooked food but when we made comment to the manager/owner he felt the best strategy was to put them back into the kitchen for a few more minutes. The clear problem was that most of the unopened ones were by now in the discarded pile so that made absolutely no sense. Pop quote. At this point did he ; A) Insist on getting us a replacement and comp a glass of wine or beer ?, B) Did he comp or discount partially on the meal ? C) Did he apologize as we left? D) Did he just ignore us and scuttle off as to avoid us when we left ? Well feel free to guess but I am betting you the the answer correct. Dude, everyone makes mistakes and how you deal with them makes all the difference in the world !
