Dropped off truck to have air conditioner checked since we are out here on vacation. Tried to charge $ 97.00 for an inspection of my air conditioner without letting me know. Not to mention the inflated charges if I had fixed anything. Good thing I called my mechanic at home. It is against California law to charge a customer over $ 50 for an inspection without written authorization. They didn’t know what to say when I brought that up. Guess they just over charge and hope no one knows. Be cautious and aware.

Despite my car is yet to be serviced, I want to let you know that they get only one star for being unreliable service… failing to heed the appointment. I was assured that it would take roughly two to three hours of work and need to make an appointment. So, I came this morning at 8 on time. I am familiar with the job requirement for value clearance inspection as well as replacing spark plugs. My car is not V6 Honda Accord. Just four cylinders. After reading thoroughly the Google information, it does not take an all day job. After dropping the car at sharp 8 in the morning and would expect to get it ready by around 11 am. Lo and behold, my car is not even ready to be serviced and still leave in the parking lot next to the shop. Boy, it is very unreliable business. Their words do not match their intended action. Be very cautious when you have your car to be serviced.

To whom it may concern, I’ve been taking my car to the 76 station in Palm Desert for years now. Over time I’ve gotten to know all the employees and the owner. Dave is unlike anyone I’ve ever known! He is always there to greet you with a warm smile and is eager to help in any way he possibly can. He is not someone just out to take advantage of you like so many in that industry can or do. I would not trust anyone else with my car and I was very shocked by the previous Unilocal comment that was left. The owner Dave and his employees are hard, honest working American men who are not just doing a job. They take pride in what they do and do an amazing job doing it! For anyone who needs any mechanical service done for their car. I will always recommend Dave and The 76 station in Palm Desert. They have my trust and respect always and forever because they have earned it time and time again! As far as the accusation of Dave behaving in such a manner to swear at anyone is absurd. I think that the previous Unilocal comment was left by someone who was looking to get something for nothing. I mean really! Where can anyone go and get a smog or any mechanical thing done to a car for that little of money??? I don’t have to question Dave and the 76 station about the price of what it will cost. They always print out a very detailed quote of what each thing costs. I’m sure if you were to cross reference his cost versus other costs he has the better deal. To the person who wrote that comment«You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to tarnish Dave’s character and work ethics!» Dave has many loyal customers who consider him like family because he is more than a mechanic! He is a wonderful man who does more than just a job! He builds a friendship and trust with his customers!!! Thank you Dave for always being there when I need help with my car or have any questions about my car! When I go to get a service anywhere if I find something good I stick with it! So I am sticking with you and the 76 station!!! Sorry for the lengthly comment but I thought everyone should know the truth about Dave and his business! Sincerely, Brittney Cagle

ABSOLUTETHIEVES! My Husband decided to get our 1989 Mercedes 560sl smogged here. He called me to tell me the car failed and the owner of the station, Dave, said it would be $ 280 to fix the car to pass. We paid $ 80 for the smog test and took the car to our regular Mercedes mechanic. When we arrived or mechanic, Theo, looked at the paperwork and said the car passed Ca smog regulations, but Dave had failed the car on a «visual Inspection» of 2 hoses and a gas cap… I was incensed. Our mechanic replaced the 2 hoses and gas cap for $ 39. The same work Dave wanted $ 280 for. I went back to Dave, explained why I was upset, and politely asked him to re-test the car. He said he would, but for $ 40. I explained to him that was insulting and that I would be filing a complaint with the Ca board of consumer affairs and the BBB. He replied back with a «F— You»…
