Have hated this store from the beginning. It always reminded me of a large Convenient store… overpriced, things that shouldn’t go together are next to each other, you’re constantly walking around trying to find things and they have limited choices. Produce is a hit or miss, the salad bar and the prepared foods ALWAYS look like they’ve been sitting out for hours. But the absolute WORST part of this store is the owner. He is a COMPLETEJERK!!! We’ve had a few of our friends kids work there and he is unbelievably disrespectful and mean to everyone. He’s yells at his employees in front of customers constantly AND he’s just as awful to the customers themselves! He throws people out of his store ALL the time. He just did it yesterday! Two older women were talking and one made the comment that she heard the owner was mean and he happened to be walking by and overheard them and said nastily that he was the owner and when they replied I guess it’s true he told them to «Get the f*#! out of my store!» How is it possible this idiot is still in business!!! We don’t want this kind of business in our neighborhood!!! I will never step foot in the door again.

Shopped here a few times and have never been unhappy! Purchased crab legs for Christmas Eve dinned and they were wonderful. They were on sale and simply the best store bought we have had. Check out the pepperoni bread with banana peppers what a great combo!

Today I went into Reiders and bought a package of fresh Snap Peas, ready and anxious to open it and start munching on something healthy. Well, let me just say that a horse would not have been able to chew those peas and swallow the tough fibers! I had to take the wads of unchewable fiber from my mouth, yes, I know this sounds gross, and discard it in the wastebasket. This is not what I consider fresh produce.

This grocery store gets three stars only because they give out free samples every day. The grocery store has very rude people working in the store ! There selection of chicken which is the main meat I buy is absolutely horrible. There prices are jacked up and not worth shopping used something is a sale if the week !

Actually I would give this market a 2.5 if possible. No you can’t do your weekly shopping here or even stop for staples because chances are you wont find it but you can stop and get your meal for that night. They also have good sales on fresh meat and fish and a great selection. I stop for the night’s meal and figure out sides while there and usually buy a few more meals worth of meat/fish. My discomfort was stated clearly in another review, the employees overall are not friendly and I have had a few experiences of just down right rudeness. Last time there a young woman at the deli pulled out the actual lunch meat and said I had to show her how much I wanted with my finger cuz she had«no idea how much a pound was». Then I asked for a pound of chicken salad–«what? Isn’t there any left over there in the case?» Sorry, I usually get it fresh from the deli. But stuff rots from the top and I too have seen the top guy yelling at employees in front of customers. So there are great aspects of this store but don’t expect much customer service. If you get a cashier that smiles like I had today– bonus!

Produce, meats, cheeses, deli, prepared foods, bakery and wines? This place is a gold medalist amongst shiesty chain grocery stores. All I’m going to say is come here hungry(not hangry). There are always tons of samples out for noshing and you’ll more than likely grab one of their delicious dips after you try one. I love perusing their deli area for unique cheeses and their produce for fruits and veggies that don’t suck. Plus, their wine sale prices, tastings and general selection is super-solid. Their cuts of meats are killer, very fresh and they have some unique, pre-marinated stuff that it special just to Reiders. I also love the bakery section and the prepared foods. I have to agree with other Unilocalers for two reasons: 1) It’s pricey(but you are paying for quality and you get 2% off your bill if you pay cash! 2) Brand selection/pantry selection is super-lacking. I’m not super loyal to brands(I’d rather eat local stuff) but I could see how that would be annoying if you only liked specific name brands. But you could always just come here for everything else and do your brand/pantry shopping at the Giant Bird. Worth a trip a lone for the sampling and the prepared foods, you guys.

My biggest complaint with this place is the limited selection and the lacking quality of said limited selection. For the several times I’ve stopped in to grab a couple staples for dinner, I find myself wishing I would have just went to Heinen’s. For example, I am conscious of my salt intake and could not find any crushed tomato, tomato sauce that was low salt or salt free. Their prices seem to be on par with Heinen’s and I find the shopping experience at Heinen’s to be much better. This isn’t my first or second choice for grocers so unless I’m in a jam, I’ll go elsewhere.

I love the beer and wine selection at Reiders. The person at the seafood section is always helpful with ideas for preparing the seafood, and the meat prices and quality is great. I am always satisfied when I shop there, and it makes me realize how awful Giant Eagle is.

Been going there for years… lilttle pricey; that’s expected. Lots of great food. But my gripe is about the prepared foods section… you know, where you get cooked chickens and whatnot. I was in there saturday night and all i wanted was 4 pieces of chicken. Boneless wings. THe prepared food section butts up to the bakery. There were two bakery babes that made eye contact with me, multiple times… and I had to shout across the bakery«how about coming over here and helping me?» there was a line, too. They said«we don’t know how to run those machines» I said I don’t care… ring me up a donut and give me a wing… figure it out! They ignored me. Not letting go of a grudge i went up and got the GM who managed to figure out how to ring up .44×4 and let me have my delicious wings but sheesh… service is not super even if their beer selection is.

Reider’s seafood and meat department are fantastic. We purchased oysters, and we know oysters. They were fresh off the plane. They also have great wines at reasonable prices. Check them out a family run business I hear.

When a member of your household is a 25-year-old, 6ft. 4in. man, you’re constantly searching for good prices on all things consumable. Plus, I’ve been trying to eat healthier, and that’s not necessarily easy on the wallet, either. So I went to Reiders Market in Painesville because I’ve heard from multiple people that the produce is local, fresh and inexpensive and that you can get good deals on protein. I was not disappointed. The produce selection was great. I picked up some fresh zucchini, green beans, carrots, you name it, Reiders had it. I was also able to get some delicious, pre-seasoned flank steak and chicken breast, which are great for throwing on the grill after work. Reiders also has a large prepared foods section, so if you’re not into cooking, you can still pick up some tasty eats. And its bakery is to-die-for; so if you need to satisfy your craving for something sweet, Reiders is the place for you. My only complaint with Reiders is that its lacking the selection of pantry items and drinks I usually buy at the grocery store — when your fiancé will only drink blue and red G2s and eat very specific brands/kinds of yogurt, bread, etc., markets like Reiders aren’t a one-stop-shop like the larger supermarkets. But if you’re down with making multiple trips, I’d definitely stop at Reiders for your fresh items, because the price, selection and quality is well worth it.
