Pulled into town after a long day in the truck with a 10 year old boy who was board stiff. Asked the the hotel for a recommendation, and we ended up here. Read some other reviews before we came. They were spot on. Staff was great and the food was better. I would recommend this to anyone in Pagosa.

Food is amazing, service is great. They give free samples! That has to be the best part!

The Lost Cajun has some of the best Cajun food I’ve ever had! I’m pretty particular when it comes to Cajun food — but I had the seafood gumbo and was VERY impressed! The food is great, the atmosphere is fun & the service is awesome. Ryan took care of us and he was wonderful! On top of that — you can look out the windows & see the mountains as you eat. Overall, The Lost Cajun is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Pagosa Springs!

Set up of the restaurant is spacious and clean the hour I arrived. I ordered a to-go of the cat-toufee(three pieces of fried catfish in a toufee sauce on a bed of rice, and a side of potato salad and French bread). The meal was a good sized portion but I wish I had some lime juice to add flavor to my fried catfish dish. The toufee consisted of bits of crawfish on a bed of rice and was tasty, but again I was craving something more flavorful. The dish prices are quite high, with the cheapest plate/favorites on the menu at about $ 14. I was disappointed that the Lost Cajun didn’t actually have any crawfish by the pound to order, which would have been a nice treat. None the less service was quick and friendly. I see myself coming back to try the gumbos, which other Unilocalers seem to enjoy.

Seafood gumbo is legit. Chicken and sausage gumbo has a great kick. Wonderful and friendly staff. Beignets are good as well. As close to NOLA and southwest LA as I’ve eaten in awhile. Worth the visit!

The food and customer service was great. The favors are as close to the south as you can come. I like the sample board it is a great marketing tactic. I didn’t have room for desert but the beignets looked delicious. I would suggest removing the tarter sauce from the catfish poboy.

Excellent wait staff, attentive and delightful. Despite being the only waitress she gave us the feeling of taking time just for us. Not only helpful in choosing dinner but what to do around the area. To help you choose, they give you a sample of all the tastes, 3 kinds of gumbos, lobster bisque, red beans and rice and a great pork special for the day. Like a beer flight for cajun food. The Beignets are wonderful.

To be fair, we only ate the beignets here. We were looking for a sweet snack before catching a movie. Seriously, the beignets are nothing more than a hollow scone doused with powdered sugar. That’s it! No doubt the ingredients cost less than 50 cents, but it cost us six bucks. I’ve had great beignets before that came with a trio of dipping sauces, like vanilla, raspberry and chocolate. None of that here though. It’s dough and powdered sugar. I was definitely expecting more. Maybe their cajun food is good, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt with three stars.

Tell them it’s your first time and you’ll get a delicious sampler platter of their dishes. Don’t leave Pagosa without stopping here.

So I really wanted to give this place 4 or 5 stars, but can’t. So our family are true Cajun food junkies, so we may have unfairly high expectations. Food: Good, hot, decent-sized portions. My biggest issue was that the spiciness/flavor of the food was definitely dialed-back for a Colorado or Midwest palate. Good Cajun food should definitely have strong flavors with some options for real ‘kick’. This really just wasn’t present on the menu. W e ordered some of what were their spiciest options, and on our scale they were at best 2 stars on a 5 star scale. They did have hot sauce at the table, but that’s just not the same. The did have a nice selection of good beers. Atmosphere: Good, friendly, not too loud but not ‘quiet’ either. Service: Waitresses were quick, friendly, and knew the menu. Thumbs up. Definitely liked the ‘sampler’ that they provide when you come in to get a sense of some of their customer favorites. Prices: A bit on the high side. Not outrageous, but on the higher end for the type of establishment it is. We spent $ 72 for dinner for 3. NET: I needing to accommodate the local palate, but they should definitely have a few options on the menu that have the bold, spicy flavors that are typically associated with Cajun food. That would have changed this to 4 stars.

Really enjoyed our meal. The free gumbo sampler was a great way to help narrow down options. Excellent, friendly service. We’ll be back the next time we’re in town.

Excellent service and even better food. They serve you a sample of a variety of their items which is a nice surprise. We had the fried shrimp plate, added on catfish and shared a bowl of crawfish étouffée. The batter on the shrimp and catfish was perfect. They are all delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back when I am in town next time.

If you’ve had enough burgers, pizza, chicken wings and tacos, give yourself a treat and try The Lost Cajun! When you sit down you’ll be given a sampler of 6 of their gumbos. The problem is picking as they are quite different and all very good. We tried the seafood and chicken & sausage first. They were great. The lobster bisque is killer. Had to have some fried catfish and shrimp, too. Both very good. Finally, do not miss the beignets. For those wearing black, I recommend the mini version as it is easier to manage the powdered sugar. But, the best thing about The Lost Cajun is the friendly, fast and very professional service! The two women who served us(one was the owner, Michelle) had the time to answer questions and joke around with us even though they were really hustling. We walked out with both a new great restaurant choice and new friends.

What a find in Pagosa! My mom and I had a hankering for something fresh and new for dinner, so when The Lost Cajun popped up on my search we decided to give it a try. The location is pretty great; right across the river from the Springs, and you can park near Tequilas. We arrived around 5PM and there were plenty of tables open. The waitress was super nice and helpful and immediately brought us a sample tray of the gumbos. This was perfect because everything sounded so good on the menu and this helped us narrow down our order. We decided on the fried okra, the seafood platter, and the seafood gumbo. This was definitely enough food for two, unfortunately we couldn’t finish everything! The okra was cut up before it was fried which was different, but it needed a sauce or something because the flavor became monotonous after awhile. The seafood gumbo was TASTY. It had a super dark color which I thought was strange, but the flavor was very complex and delicious! Comes with a side of potato salad(rocking) and bread(so-so). The seafood platter was fantastic as well! I’m usually not partial to catfish but the breading was so light the fish tasted awesome! I have no idea how they do their breading but it was LEGIT. The shrimp were also lightly breaded and delicious and you could taste the flavor of the oysters when you bit into them. SOGOOOOOOD. Tartar sauce was solid, coleslaw wasn’t overly mayo-y, and fries were awesome. We ordered some beignets to go(watch out, three come in an order) and they were pretty tasty but they reminded me more of sopapillas. Overall really great restaurant to try when you are in Pagosa! The service is good and the food is delicious and they have tons of items on the menu!

I found this little gem on my way back from a ski trip to Wolf Creek, as other reviewers mention, if you’ve never been in before they will serve you a sampler of the various soups/gumbos they have. I selected the Crawfish Etouffe which was very good. I skipped the dessert but would like to try it again sometime. I’m a fan, I’ll be back and will try a couple other dishes. I also had a side of fried oysters which were awesome!

I am so happy these restaurants keep popping up all over Colorado. Each once is as good as the first one I tried years ago in Breckenridge. The seafood gumbo is my favorite along with the red beans and rice. The lobster bisque and beignets are excellent as well. They have nice sized portions and friendly service!

I’m really not sure how this place has five stars!!! We were so excited to try it, seeing it had such great reviews. We left feeling afraid that we might get sick. The waitress was really nice and friendly, but we were the only people in on a Tuesday afternoon. We enjoyed the sampler and decided on the seafood gumbo and fried oysters. The gumbo was okay, but the oysters smelled terrible and had some sort of green slime coming out of them. My boyfriend will eat anything so he finished two before he thought it would probably make him sick. Definitely won’t ever be back!

Really good cajun food in, of all places, Pagosa Springs. Certainly not something we were looking for or expected. Based on other reviews we decided to give it a try and we’re really glad we did. Stormy, our server, brought out a sampler tray of gumbos to help us decide. We settled on Lobster Bisque and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo along with a Shrimp Po’boy and Voodoo Pasta. A lot of food, but wait, we ended the meal with an order of beignets. All of it was very good. Stormy did a great job of taking care of us. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in Pagosa.
