A fun day trip from Durango go at 3 so you have time to walk around before the feeding tour starts at 4. The kids really enjoyed it the lady that did the tour was very personable and really enjoyed her job. PS all the animals are rescue animals not able to survive in the wild.

This place was amazing. We visited from out of town and enjoyed every minute. The animals were incredible. I mean incredible. Some were very old, but that didn’t matter too much. We were there at feeding time and it was so cool to see that! The animals come right up to the fence; which made them only 5 – 10 feet away from us. It was really cool! I’d recommend coming here and having a blast!

This is a smaller, wildlife rescue place with a highly dedicated staff. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a look. They do have a nice selection of animals, and the enclosures are, in general, pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. You’re not going to see any exotic animals here — this place is for wildlife that live in the general area and a few others like mules and such. Swing by when their feeding and you can walk around with a staff member and hear a lot of good info as well as see the animals closer and more active.

Put down that venison burger, elk burger, or emu steak and support your local wildlife without taking a bit out of it. This place is cheaper than a movie and lots of fun for the whole family(maybe with the exception of your jaded teenagers). Call ahead and find out when they are feeding the animals and increase your viewing pleasure. Also, one of the few places to take a child under six on a short horse ride.
