This hotel is inexpensive, clean, and in an ideal location. That being said, I consider it a perfect example of «you get what you pay for.» I was a little nervous right away because when I called to make a reservation, no one answered.(I would have called another nearby hotel but I had stayed at other locations of this chain and remembered them being nice – also I really didn’t want to pay more for a room.) I booked a room online and it was easy. When we arrived I was surprised that there were SO many restaurants/stores nearby, which is great! We were exhausted from our trip and were able to order food online(c/o hotel’s wifi) and pick it up at the restaurant which was within walking distance. Another thing that got Pear Tree bonus points was that they are dog friendly! I saw multiple other guests with dogs. The fee is only an additional $ 10(if you’re wondering Best Western charges $ 40). There weren’t a ton of places for the dog to roam/potty, but it’s fine for one night. I’m giving this place 4 stars considering the amenities and level of service I received. That does NOT mean this is a 4 star hotel, people. I used to work at a very nice Inn and we charged between $ 150-$ 250/night for a room(which was waaay underpriced considering how nice it was), so it drives me crazy when people book a $ 75 room and expect the Radisson. This hotel is nice enough, but I wouldn’t come here for my honeymoon. ;-)

This room was booked as «non» smoking; however, it stank of stale cigarette smoke and had ashtrays scattered throughout. The sheets were stiff, towels thin, no toiletry items like lotion, etc. The location is ideal and they do take pets.

Visually attractive, though it had the smell of a place where lots of cleaners/deodorizers are used to cover up old textiles. Perhaps this is the way Drury brings older but potentially profitable properties under its umbrella. «Kathy» checked us in at the desk, and was exceptionally friendly. While chain restaurants are all around, she encouraged us to try local restaurants down on the riverfront, and told us there would be plenty of snacks in the lobby when we returned. Kathy deserves five stars, but, overall, Pear Tree gets three.
