Finally got around to trying this local spot, and was disappointed. I ordered camarones al mojo de ajo, smallest shrimp ive ever seen, and rubbery.

The food was good, camarones a la diabla are super spicy but super good! I also got a wet burrito that was good as well. The place if family friendly, the only thing is, it’s too quiet you can hear the conversation from the person next to you. They have a music box but you go and play 1 song at a time, I’d give it 5 stars if their was music. Totally recommend it. Oh and the michelada was really good as well! !

The food is not eatable if you are white and don’t speak Spanish they will give you low quality food. Everyone’s else food around me was looking good mine was microwaved. My asada burrito was a rice burrito. It was so hard to eat the burrito with plastic fork. I need chips. The food didn’t come with chips. Chips extra !!! 2 $ extra . Burrito and beer 14 $ Chips 2 $ Coke 2 $ 18 $ lunch and was terrible never again

I was introduced to this place for my first time by a friend. I was told that the AguaChile plates were good here. I ordered the AguaChile and the person behind the register recommended them to be really hot(flavor). I Agreed and took the challenge. They were really good and really hot! But of course, enjoyable hot. We also ordered the Oyster shot that comes with 12 oysters and they were all good! The micheladas were too good to be true! If I’m in the area, I’ll be back again for both the food and micheladas. Wished they’d make the AguaChile plates a little bit bigger. Parking was full here so we had to park out in the street.

This is My third time eating at el canelo, honestly I didn’t expect much cause every review from other places has been wrong but no with this place, we tried sopes with carnitas, huarache with asada, chilaquiles with red sauce(spicy) and last chicharron in red(super spicy) sauce no complaints on any of this dishes my favorite was the chicharron they are crunchy still when you are eating them not saggy at all. So happy I found this place and the employees are super nice and attentive

First time here. Food was great. Service was great. The portions are very generous. The micheladas was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I will be back soon. Can’t wait to try other food off their menu :)

Love this place! Usually place a phone order to go, but when we eat in its nice too. The staff is friendly and accomodating. LOVE the Tacos de Pescado al la plancha, I usually order a la carte. The camarones rancheros combo is good too. Up side — right off the 118fwy Glenoaks exit on my way home. Down side — parking and surrounding neighborhood

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 11 years and it wasn’t until recently that I tried this place out. It’s on a busy corner in a parking lot from hell. I say this because you will rarely find a parking spot and if you do, it will likely take you a good 10 minutes to park in what would be the smallest parking spaces ever. The locality is a little scary… crazy people talking to themselves on just about each of the corners.(I’m not kidding.) Once inside you’ll be okay. You’ll stand in a line to order your food and pick up your food when your number is called. Just so you know, its that kind of place! I ordered the chicharron with red sauce(versus green) plate which came with rice and refried beans and tortillas. The sauce was HOT, the way I like it. The spice level was way up there. The chicharron were crunchy even after been tossed and cooked in the red sauce, which is good because I really didn’t want some slimy chicharron. The rice was a little bland, the beans were alright. The chicharron made up for what the rice and beans were missing. My meal was washed down with a great tasting michelada which is what this place is well known for. I will be back here again for sure. It will likely one of my default places when my husband and I can’t decide where to eat.
