We were looking for a place to enjoy a family meal before heading to the beach for the afternoon. Very happy with our meal at KayNDave’s! Fish tacos, shrimp tacos and especially the molcajete were all very good. Bonus: Pleasantly surprised by the restrooms — they are very clean!

A great little spot in uptown Pacific Palisades. We just wrapped a tour and small hike up Inspiration Point at Will Rogers’ estate and wanted a casual lunch. I also wanted a drink(s). I am unsure why there are so many Italian joints in this area, but we were adorned in walking clothes and that wouldn’t work. We’re big Mexican food enthusiasts and we found this excellent spot. Casual, friendly, big menu, GREAT for kids, beer and wine, sunny… all adjectives that describe Kay and Dave’s. We parked in a nearby lot for $ 1 and found the place after a little walking around. Will be back soon. Oh, and I had their baja fish burrito. It was a little dry, as it naturally would be, so do like I did and order a side of green salsa. It made it perfect.

Not even close to good Mexican food. Start with the chips and salsa no don’t the salsa is so wimpy that I’ve had ketchup with more kick. Had a starter salad that was pretty tasteless. I ordered a chicken and spinach enchilada and was surprised to see the spinach was uncooked. Chicken was dry. Beans weren’t hot nor was the rice. The taco was a tortilla that was suppose to have been sole but what was served was chicken on a tortilla with nothing else, no garnish and no flavor. My friend ordered a chicken enchilada and a crisp beef taco. It was served burned. Oh my biggest complaint was the cold air that blew from the air vents that was ice cold. Asked a server if the air volume could be lowered and got a yes but nothing was done to make the air less cold.

Kay & Dave’s is a great local Mexican spot. The salsa they serve w their chips is delicious and the beef barbacoa(not sure if spelt correctly) is amazing! They’re grilled chick anything is good. The zucchini side that you can pair w their combo meals is fantastic and nothing beats the mamacita chicken soup when you’re battling a cold.

Great service, excellent food. Came with a friend we both enjoyed. The omelet was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

Pretty decent Mexican spot. Came for brunch. Ordered the two eggs scrambled with bacon home fries and toast. The home fries were decent but I’ve had better. The scrabbled eggs were good and the bacon was good as well. Overall standard breakfast meal. I love the price points here. Service and staff was on point and the complimentary muffins and chips and salsa is always a great touch.

For some reason every time we’re in the neighborhood we convince ourselves we liked this place the last time. And every time we leave disappointed. The service is friendly and I like the family atmosphere. But the food is never as good as you expect it to be, especially for the price. I’ve had greasy tacos, barely edible tostadas, and passable mole, among others. The chips are better than the salsa. Don’t bother with the guac.

Although I’ve lived in the neighborhood for about 16 years today was my first night. Prices were fair. Service was average and I feel like the staff was overworked or unhappy… owners, please take care of your people! I may go back to try the food… the free salsa that came with the nachos seemed like tomatoes from a can mixed with a conservative pinch of maybe onion and salt to give it a homemade look. The sweetness and soupy consistency lead me to believe otherwise. The restaurant story exists, but is not compelling. I may come back to try a dish or two… but what would compel me to walk the extra block to this lonely corner on a Friday night when there is live music at the historical and lively Culver Hotel?

Excellent experience! The chips and salsa were so great to start off before the delicious salmon i had! The waiter was very attentive and brought us 3 baskets of chips since we loved them! The salmon was cooked to perfection where is the sixth star?!?

I walked in this evening to place a take out order. I was told 20 minutes. No problem. I walked around and returned 20+ minutes later. I waited to pay. And asked if my order was ready. The girl behind the counter said they had many orders and didn’t know. She couldn’t check? I understand it was busy but it wasn’t difficult to check. She didn’t. I waited an additional 15 minutes before I got to the front of the line again to ask a guy who was working to check on my order. It was there. The entire time. I’m very annoyed at the shoddy customer service. This wouldn’t have happened at the Kay n Dave’s on 26th

Very pricey, but I guess it’s to be expected in this area. Other than that tiny detail I loved it! I got the rolled tacos and they were so delicious! The service was a bit slow and all the tables were full. It’s a small establishment with scattered tables and a noisy environment. A corona and a great meal was all I needed! I definitely recommend!

Disclaimer: Food is wonderful. Totally delicious. If you go to order and eat there, you’ll have a wonderful experience. HOWEVER, I tried to call them to place an order for pick up. I was put on hold, heard 3 minutes of awful static, and then was hung up on. I called twice more with the same result. The fourth and last time, a guy named Jerry picked up the phone. When I explained to him what had happened, he blamed it on the phone lines and gave me a lot of attitude. He was totally unapologetic and very rude. I was not happy about it. Moral of the story, don’t call in an order, just drive there and sit down.

Straight out of a can food. Flavorless and not Mexican at all. Truly disappointed.

Service was ok. Lacking a bit of flavor their chicken steak just seems to be over cooked causing it to be dry and tough. And the salsa which is the heart of any Mexican food tastes prepackaged which takes away from the flavor

If happiness was on a plate, it would be charbroiled carnitas from this fabulous restaurant. The ambience is nice and homey. There were some cultural pieces and hand-drawn pictures by children. The service was amazing. My water was refilled several times. We had some trouble getting a server’s attention to get our check, but the restaurant was pretty filled with people at that point. I got the charbroiled carnitas was grilled and juicy. They topped it with cilantro and this mild salsa that just worked perfectly together. It came with guacamole, sour cream, beans, tortillas and rice. The guacamole was clearly freshly made. I didn’t get the sour cream. You had a choice of black or pinto beans and I chose black. I don’t know how they make the beans, but it was savory and amazing. You could choose between flour and corn tortilla. This restaurant can get really packed with just two or three servers, so service may be slow, but it’s worth the wait. You can order pick up and delivery online too. I would highly, highly recommend this place to everyone!

Just went there on a Sunday afternoon place was JAMMED! I got my food to go. I walked in and it took about 2 or 3 minutes of me standing in front of the register before my order was taken. Don’t get me wrong I was immediately greeted and told that it would be «a couple of seconds» so as I waited and everyone rushed around a few servers came by and told me the same thing. I liked that they were all on point and told the I was not being ignored. I ordered my food and was told it would be 15 –20 minutes for my food to be ready. That was no problem and it ended up taking on 10 minutes for my food to be ready. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas Suizas which were very good. The only problem was that I found 2 decent size chicken bones in it. Both were about 2 inches long. I am a little upset by tjis. If you are shredding the chicken by hand then I would assume that maybe a little bone fragment might get through but bones of that size They should have caught that. I am going to be wary of ordering chicken next time I go there

My black mole quesadilla: smoky, lightly chocolate with onions and the fresh tomatoes really shine through. Chicken was pulled style and not only amazingly tender but extremely juicy, I would actually say melt in your mouth shredded chicken. Chicken was surrounded in a thick delicious layer of what looked like at least 2 cheeses folded in grilled flour tortilla. Perfectly fresh pile of guac alongside the mexican sour cream that is so good you have to know its bad for you but you have to eat it anyway. I will come back for this quesadilla! Service was prompt and friendly. Ticket time was less than 5 min(outstanding). Very happy to have a limited but significant small batch beer selection(Jamaica red is gentle and refreshing with a more hoppy finish than other«red» beers and it paired well with my quesadilla) My brother had the Barbacoa. It was tender and full of juicy flavor. I will come back here!

Kay & Dave’s is a casual, intimate California-Mexican restaurant. I’ve been coming to Kay & Dave’s for years. I’ve been to the Brentwood location on 26th St., but I prefer the Palisades location. I’ve gone to Kay & Dave’s for lunch and for dinner, but no matter the time, it consistently has very friendly service. From the moment you sit down, you are treated to complementary tortilla chips and salsa, which I love. The waiters are very attentive, making sure to refill drinks, chips, or salsa whenever you want more. Typically, the food comes out pretty quickly(15 minutes), although I have had my bad experiences when it takes forever. I’ve had their breakfast machaca, their burritos, their enchiladas, and their tacos. But, my favorite, as surprising as it is, is their cilanto-lime chicken salad. It is fantastic. The salad is relatively simple, consisting primarily of romaine lettuce, tomato, avocado, cucumber and grilled chicken, all topped by a delectable cilantro-lime dressing. Try it and you will not regret it! The dish is quite large though, so make sure not to over order(or over eat chips). Even though I can definitely finish it, depending on how I am feeling, I will sometimes choose to take the second half home with me. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxed environment with consistently solid Cali-Mex food, Kay & Dave’s should be your next stop!

Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent beer. Not much more you can ask for in your neighborhood cantina. I came in today for the first time and tried the crispy chicken mole taco at the servers recommendation. It was delicious. Order a side of guacamole for dipping and a lagunitas.

On Mondays and Thursday’s during our lunch hour, there has never been a question or doubt about where my friends and I go for lunch. I’ve had the pleasure of trying almost everything on the menu, and have never been let down. Chris and the other staff are the ideal of what makes a really great experience. Black Bean tacos for the win!

First time I came here I had a machaca burrito. It was just«meh» … It was very salty and too high on the scoville scale for me to enjoy. Generally if you want stereotypical, Americanized, quasi-hipster, gringo-Mexican food… then you might like this place. My opinion is that a Mexican restaurant should NOT have lox on the menu(WTF???) or hamburgers… but that’s a rant for another time. Sorry for my digression… back to the review: On this lunch visitation I ordered a carne asada burrito. It wasn’t blazing hot on the scoville scale. The meat was tender. The flavor was pretty good. But the black beans were a little under cooked… so they had a distinct«al dente» texture. It’s not bad but I prefer my linguini al dente not my beans. I’ll give them another try in a few weeks. To be continued.

I went with a big group and I was able to try a lot of different dishes. One of them was great, the other 2 were good, and one was horrible(my dish). The mole chicken was the worst. The chicken was overcooked and dry. It’s the worst chicken mole plate I have ever had. The two breakfast plates were the okay dish. Both were different types of omelets. The best dish was egg plant tacos with an egg on top. It was delicious. The service itself was good. The waiter checked on us several time.

I took a wrong turn and ended up in the Palisades. That is how I stumbled upon Kay n’ Dave’s. I love this place! I had the arroz con pollo. It was huge and had a wonderful tomato and jalapeño sauce(I that is what it was). The service was on point. I drink a lot o tea and water and my glass never got less than half full. On second thought, maybe I took a right turn.

I stumbled upon this place after finishing a job in Pacific Palisades. My craving was for something spicy and a margarita. I picked up the menu and notice the margaritas were wine based and felt deflated. I thought what the hell let’s give it a shot. YUMMY, the margarita was incredibly good. If I could get this same taste elswhere, I would always have wine based margaritas. I ordered the crispy tacos with rice and beans and the food did not dissapoint. Waiters are super attentive and quick to notice the chips or drinks running low. I went back for a repeat visit and took a friend, we were both extremely please with the experience.
