VERYDISAPPOINTING, ANDWEWOULDNOTRECOMMENDTOANYONE! Here’s what we found at the River Cabin: 1. The river must have been ¼ mile away, and even after our lengthy walk to find the river, we never did find a beach. 2. The overhead lighting was very poor in the cabin. The main light appeared to have 1 of 2 bulbs working. 3. There was no exterior garbage pail for all the garbage that we had over 4 days & no one came to pick up trash during that entire time. 4. There was not 1 hook in the bathroom or bedroom to hang towels or anything else. 5. While there were 2 nice closets(1 in each of the 2 bedrooms), neither had a rod, hook, nothing to hang a piece of clothing on. 6. The quality of the towels was extremely poor, and the toilet seat did not adequately cover the toilet base. 7. The shower stall was even smaller than on a cruise ship, and none of us thought that was possible! 8. The back door in 1 of the bedrooms had no blinds or window coverings, which meant that early in the morning no one could sleep with the sun shining in. 9. Considering there was only 1 bathroom for 4 people, there should have been mirrors in the bedrooms. 10. While the beds were comfortable enough, there were no blankets on any of them. 11. Spider webs covered the walls. 12. The coffee pot in the kitchen did not have an automatic cut-off on it. We forgot to turn it off the first night and scorched the pot. How very strange that you wouldn’t worry about this and the possibility of a fire and spend the additional $ 5 for that feature!!! 13. The small flat-screen TV in our living room did not work, and when we complained at the office, we were told that it wasn’t intended to… it was only to view DVDs. No one ever told us this when we checked in! 14. The patio furniture had lots of bird poop all over it. 15. There was an old retired moldy refrigerator sitting on the porch that stunk and was a major safety hazard for children. 16. The BBQ on the porch was in non-working condition. 17. The very high front step into the cabin should have a ramp or extra step. While no one fell coming out of the cabin, we could imagine missing the step, breaking an ankle, or falling. 18. The beautiful porch looked like someone had intended to install lighting, but all that was there were uncovered wires. On the positive side for the River Cabin, the furniture was nice, the beds relatively comfortable, and the Air Conditioning worked quite well. The surrounding scenery was awesome! We all thought the cabin had potential for being quite lovely, but it appeared that someone started putting it together and then stopped in the middle. With that being the case, we should not be paying $ 190 per night. Here’s what we found at the Barn Loft: 1. There was no lighting on the very steep outside stairs to the loft, and one adult did miss the last step coming down in the evening and fell. While his back hurt, we were fortunate he didn’t break anything! 2. One of the guests(not a heavy one!) sat on one of the chairs and one of the legs broke and once again, he was fortunate that he wasn’t hurt. 3. One of the mattresses didn’t even cover the metal frame, so when someone walked past it, they got a gash in their leg on the frame. That person was my husband and he did tell the man at the front desk about it, and got no response. 4. The downstairs bedroom was airless and quite ratty, and since none of our adult children wanted to sleep in that room, they carried in mattresses upstairs and slept in them on the floor instead. 5. There were lots of crawling insects inside the cabin, including beetles, spiders, flies, etc. 6. The lining on the pull-out sofa was ripped and dirty… most definitely NOT hygenic! 7. There was no fitted sheet for the sleeper sofa. 8. The emergency exit off the bedroom connected to the lodge warehouse… very creepy. 9. The DVD player did not work. 10. There was no outside trash bin to empty the kitchen garbage over the course of 4 days.
