Visited twice in one week. Finally decided to take care of my eyes and get it checked after not seeing an optometrist in 6 years. My first visit was this past Tuesday for a wellness exam. Showed up early just in case there was a wait. I thought I’d be seen as soon as I got there being that I had an appointment, but I ended up having to wait 45 minutes to be seen. Luckily, the staff as well as the Dr. who saw me was super awesome. I believe it was Flinn. He explained everything to me and ended up entertaining me by telling me the Tagalog words that he knew. I was told to come back for more tests. I should’ve asked what for, but I didn’t. Turns out it was to see the back of my eye to make sure I don’t have glaucoma. So yay for no glaucoma. Lidia helped me out today throughout the whole testing. She’s super awesome. Bubbly and naturally friendly. Dr. Shaffer saw me for the remainder of the appointment. Lidia again assisted me with picking new glasses. I picked one from their collection and was told I would be called when it’s ready to be picked up. I took away one star for having to wait during my first appointment.

Been coming to this practice for past 6 years. Staff here are immaculate best ever. Dr Shaffer is the last honest Dr in the eye ball business. Never tries to up sell you any of his products etc. good office. I recommend this practice to anyone. Best ever is that I did not have an appointment and they still took me in.

I had a great experience there! Dr. Shaffer couldn’t have been friendlier and was actually a very clever and funny guy. He was obviously extremely knowledgeable and let me know about a contacts option if you need bifocals, since i had come in bc i had tried for a year and couldn’t deal with my new bifocal glasses. It worked perfectly and now i’m a happy contacts wearer! I had a lot of fun with the optometrist and the staff there, and though the office could certainly use a little modernization in the décor, lol, that’s not something that should enter into the evaluation of a service if all else is good. Prices are awesome, too.

This eye doctor is the nicest eye doctor. He takes his time, explains everything to you, and truly cares about his patients. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. They are always smiling and willing to help. It has truly been a pleasure working with this doctor.

It’s pretty bad when you’re still upset about a business even after you’ve had time to sleep off the experience. I woke up and am still mad. Let me preface this review by saying I work a good 10 hours a day staring at two computer monitors… and go to school at night. These things require my eyes be tip-top. I drive a car that has over 500+ HP as my daily driver so for the safety of everyone on the road, my eyes should probably be seeing at 20⁄20. My eyes have been bugging me badly so off to the optometrist I went! I asked their staff before choosing Dr. Shaffer if they had a large variety of frames because I’m picky, and the employee said that they did. So I’m expecting a big variety like you see at Lens Crafter(or at my Optometrist in Porter Ranch… big ups to VisionMax!). I walked in and was immediately struck at how run down the place seemed and how SMALL the variety of frames were. Alot of them were very similar in style or from the 60’s. The staffer ensured me this was all the rage with teenagers. Doubt that, lady. The doctor took me into the exam room and it seemed cramped and antiquated. He ran me through the barrage of normal eye tests and within just a couple minutes I was wooshed out the door to pick out my frames. The only one I liked was in a picture on a model. I asked about ordering it(because it was the prettiest style I could find) and was given a speech at how if I ordered it, I probably wouldn’t get it. Then take the picture down!!! I got my frames a week later and immediately felt there was an issue with my lenses… they made me feel cross-eyed and things were fuzzy. WTF? The doctor told me to just try them for a couple days so my eyes could get use to them. Fine. I even tried for two weeks! They were still bad. I frantically made another appt to get a re-check. During wait in the lobby, two ladies(sales reps) from a company called ENVISION came in to chat with the staffers. They seemed nice enough, well dressed. As they were being walked out by one of the Optometrist staffer, they discussed google reviews and the girl from the office mentioned she gave Envision 5 stars. The ladies at ENVISION were thrilled. Then, the staffer said she was planning to make a fake account to give them another 5 stars and the sales reps said they wouldn’t tell and everyone laughed… except for me. That’s pretty much the time I decided this place was not only run down, but it was shady. The doctor saw me an hour after my appt time and when his tests were all done, he said they were the same as the tests before. I told him that maybe I test bad. What else could be the reason they don’t help me to see better? Doctor said a glare guard might help, and to leave my glasses with the front and for a little under $ 100 the lab would handle it. Their credit card machine wasn’t working and I don’t make a habit of carrying around $ 100 in cash. The lady behind the counter said I could leave my credit card info with her and they could enter it when the machine was up. I said no, and she said I needed to keep calling them until the machine was up again… because I have all the time in the world to do your job, right lady? But I left them anyway because I’m desperate to see again. After all the unpleasant things this place made me feel, I decided to just go pick up my glasses and take my business elsewhere. Apparently their staff didn’t give a flying hoot because when I came to pick them up, they didn’t give me any pleasantries(including hello’s) or ask why I was taking my glasses away without the glare guard. I just felt like this place was taking me for a ride… and not in a fun way. The only reason I gave two stars is because he saw me on short notice and there is easy parking. Now I have to go somewhere and pay full price for a new exam and lenses… BOO!
