El Pollo Loco

My favorite el Pollo Loco location in the area. The place looks in good shape always and the employees are friendly.

I love chicken and this pollo loco is amazing friendly staff food is always good. My favorite is there 2pc meal been getting this for a while.

Drove thru late last night after a very long day. Ordered tacos el carbon & original el pollo bowl. How depressing when you’re really hungry, tired, & trying to avoid burgers & fries and the chicken is dry and hard to chew. The teensy weensy cubelets of chicken in the salad bowl & tacos were hard & very dry. Many pieces of inedible gristle (???). Tossed it in the garbage & had a bowl of cereal & bananas.

I ordered shrimp tacos and they gave me chicken. I normally just suck it up but I was really craving a shrimp taco so I drove back and the manager came out and acted like I screwed up the order! I showed her the receipt clearly showing I ordered the shrimp tacos and she copped an attitude and they gave me my shrimp tacos. No apology just attitude! Btw 3 shrimp in the taco. I called corporate and they said they would send me a voucher and I still haven’t gotten anything. It’s been 2 months. Never again will I eat there!

So i couldn’t choose my own sides in my order. So technically i have to eat what the manager allows me to eat. Ive never experienced this before, im very disappointed in the lack in consistency from each establishment, even though this is the only one that had ever rudely said this. Also, they gave me my order incomplete as i had ordered wings, but they didnt give it to me. With what i experienced, i wasnt about to go back and get my wings. Avoid this place… bad customer service and order inaccuracy.

If all sides are the same price, why can’t substitutions be made when ordering a family meal. The family comes with rice and beans, however, not everyone wants rice and beans. So when asking to switch out the sides, we were told that the manager would only allow for one of the two sides to be substituted. I don’t understand this practice since if you were to order the sides «a la carte», the would cost the same. So why not substitute if the cost would essentially be the same?
When asked if we could substitute both items again, the person said that it’s a «pro-​mo-​tion», saying it as if we didn’t understand what we were ordering. There is no need to be rude or condescending, so that put us off. Her reasoning again was that she was just following the rules and that her manager said that she could only substitute one order. After this, we gave up and took the one substitution. After a long day of cleaning, anyone would just want to have good food and relax. However, this experience was very off-​putting. Not to mention that we didn’t get our order of wings, but we weren’t about to go back and say anything because we could only imagine the reasoning behind that and to endure anymore rudeness was not desired.
Next time, I’ll just get Popeyes!

I wish I could give this place a negative review. I’ve been here three times and each time they don’t have any chicken to sell. Aren’t they called El Pollo Loco. F@$# how can you be out of chicken!!!

As I sit in the drive thru awaiting my food I felt compelled to write a review. After repeating my order several times the person taking the order is extremely incompetent and has no future in any workforce. Each time I’d ask for an item I’d get a long pause followed by faint background laughter with a repeat of the wrong order. Definitely made my craving for this place go away. I did however, have to give them at least one star since they gave me extra salsa without hesitation. Other than that it will take a lot for me to go back to this place.

I gave this place a not so good review before, I only continued to come here because I love El Pollo Loco. I noticed they have recently remodeled and are making some changes. Let’s hope it gets even better.

Definitely one of the worse el pollo loco I’ve been to. The restaurant was dirty and the chicken wasn’t even cooked properly.

Wow… Do not come here on sunday evening’s. No salsas at the bar, no ice in the machine. Staff looks lost. I heard that this location was better than the Saviors Road one… I’ve been fooled.

Worst El Pollo Loco I’ve ever been to. Seems like they only hire dummies and the food is not fresh 89% of the time. Only went there because it’s semi-​healthy fast food. Never going there again after they f@$ked my order up like three times in a row. I wished El Pollo Norento had a drive thru.

The whole chain in general is pretty ho hum to me. It’s pretty much the generic grilled chicken and sides you’d expect. If your looking for a healthy, quick option you can find something here which is why I went. Nothing to make me crave it or leave me wanting to go back.

Unfortunately, I eat fast food a lot and El pollo loco usually doesn’t give me that super disgusting full feeling. It was great today. No complaints.

:(went on mothers day night just because it was across the street, I was in the drive thru, pulled up to the window and I could here cursing, and it took them awhile to acknowledge I was there. Then I tried to order a taquito, they were out, I tried to get a coke, it was watery they said so I got orange soda, I tried to get fries, they were out, at this point I just got a number 3 w/​mac and cheese and beans. I got home and my orange soda was watery :(if they didn’t want to provide good service they should have just told me they were closed. wasted 8 bucks got nothing out of it and that sucked.

giving a 1 star is way to generous! Had relatives ordered takeouts last weekend… and everyone who ate the items… all got sick… food poisoning. I went to this location and scouted the place. one word «Nasty». Do Not go to this Dump!

No one in the place but every square of the grill was covered with cooked chicken just burning up and drying out. This was not the holding grill for the already cooked stuff, it was full flame. This place is close to my house, so I thought I’d give it a go. Chicken was charred black and dried-​out!
Normally, it is the white meat that gets overcooked with chicken, but these were thighs and legs. The salsa or pico de gallo had way too much of one ingredient (but can’t tell which) that overwhelmed the flavor. I tried to moisten the chicken with it, but
I ended up showing my order to the manager and left it on the counter.
Pretty dingy place too.
I suggest the El Pollo Loco at 5^th and Victoria instead.

Good, not great, roasted chicken. A few years ago they had a niche in South American style roasted chicken and they have not adapted to that change and cling to a model which worked 15+ years ago.
The brand has not endured well over time.
This visit the condiment counter was messy and not fully stocked. The pinto beans were greasy and devoid of flavor.
There was a time I looked forward to a visit: not so much anymore.

I like the food pretty standard and consistent.
However, every table is almost always dirty. They should come around and wipe it down more often. Must be due to the grimmy location.
It will have to due since it’s the closest location to me, oh well.

The same EPL chicken and menu items, but this location is located in the heart of oxnard, and always appears filthy. Windows oily, tables unwiped, trash on the floor, salsa cups all over, etc… you’re beginning to see a trend.
However, it is one of few EPLs in the area.
I would recommend the food at this location, but you should get drive thru or taking your meal to go.
