Unfortunately we were attracted to this place because of Unilocal. It was pretty terrible without having to go on a huge rant. Food was mediocre at best, and having been told the beer guy hadn’t «been there in awhile«the draft beer was disgusting. Also very overpriced for not only the portion size but food quality as well. Not worth giving a second chance.

This is a MUST if you live in the area! Great service while dining in and also for take out! We are always impressed with the accuracy of getting each meal correct! Even when they are super busy they are still very accurate and friendly! 5 stars all the way!

I’ve eaten here several times and the food is always good. I’ve had the lobster rolls, fried shrimp, and the shrimp po’ boy. All are delicious! There is limited seating however, so if you go on a busy night, there may be a bit of a wait.

We have eaten there twice, and both times we received our chowders«after» we were halfway through our entrees even though we asked for them to be served before. They said there was an «issue» with the chowders. Also, they had just one server, who had not worked there before, trying to satisfy all the tables. Although we enjoyed our dinners, they seem to have some management«issues».

Love this place! The tacos are so good that I always get them… so can’t speak to the rest of the menu. I get one mahi taco and one shrimp taco with the chipotle sauce. Get them blackened! So good. The service is always amazing too. I wish I knew their names so I could give them a shout out!

This place is delicious! Definitely recommend getting the blacked two fish(tilapia) tacos. Sweet potato fries are also mouthwateringly amazing. I come here pretty often and have never left disappointed. Highly recommended :)

Again, another perfect meal. My girlfriend had a special that was Teriyaki Salmon with asparagus over pasta. I held steady with fish and chips but got onion pedals instead of fries. So for my fish and chips: outstanding and exactly as they were before. I seriously can not say how perfect the fish was. The onion pedals were the best I’ve had. So the special… Ridiculous!!! We just ate a week ago at a fancy restaurant down on International Drive and my girlfriend had their salmon dish and it was NO where near as good as this. Not even close. This was probably her best meal, outside of my perfect home cooking, that she has had this year. Do Not let the simplicity of the restaurant turn you away. If you want amazing seafood in East Orlando then you must come here.

Great little place. Stopped in for lunch while working at a customer location in the area. Plenty of parking in the area and easy to find. The menu is small, but fresh foods and freshly cooked. Overall very good find and will visit again next time I’m in the area.

My husband and I love seafood. I’m a Florida native, and he grew up near the Chesapeake Bay, so we have constant discussions about what makes good seafood. We don’t see eye to eye often, but we agree that TJs is one of the greats. We first discovered them at one of the food truck events at Oviedo Mall, and have been frequent customers ever since! It’s been over a year since we found them, and I still remember the first thing I had — those delicious shrimp and grits! Nowadays I usually order the salmon or mahi. Each has been flavorful and tender, without being fishy(or overcooked) every time I’ve had it. When I don’t order fish, I usually have their grilled shrimp tacos. The char on the shrimp is just enough, and gives the shrimp a nice smoky edge. The mix of lettuce to veggies and sauce is just right. I also appreciate their options for sides — «usual» items like fried okra, beans and rice, or fries — or lighter items such as steamed veggies for slightly more $. I usually opt for veggies, and have rarely been disappointed. On a few of my orders, the veggies have had a little more butter than I’d like, but it’s not a deal-breaker for my orders. Still a very nice option to have if you’re looking for a lighter meal. Five stars for the food and friendly service on dine-in and take out occasions. Just wish they were open on Sundays! :)

Looking for a quick bite to eat but needed a seafood restaurant that served a variety of fish, I stumbled across previous reviews of this restaurant. The food was great. I ordered the Friday night special of Grits with blackened shrimp… cheesy grits with blackened shrimp and it was delicious! The shrimp po’-boy, gator bites, fried okra and sweet salmon were also very good. I will definitely come back when in the Orlando area.

The food was great. I ordered fried shrimp and my husband got fish tacos. My only problem with this location is the smell. As soon as you walk in there is a stench. The place is dark, dusty and probably needs a good scrub down. Makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is…

Wow, I think the blonde waitress girl just totally ignored me. I asked for another hard cider twice and she confirmed, yet never returned. She was a bit busy, but WTF. We even confirmed with the owner lady of what to do if we needed more beer. She said to just ask the waitress. Nice. We’ve been here a few times and the food is solid, mostly prepared fresh. Portions are on the small side, but it’s more of a casual dining experience. Overall food and ambiance a 4 and service a 2… maybe 1 for the blatant dis. Not sure I’ll be back.

I decided to try this restaurant based on reviews and it was great! I had the Yumbo Gumbo and Fish and Chips. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice! This place is also very welcoming to younger kids. My only complaint is that they had no booster chair for my toddler, but other than that, I would’ve given this place 5 stars. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you love seafood and Cajun food.

It’s not every restaurant where you can get a sense of what it was like in the bar on «Cheers», but this is definitely one. The main menu items are all very good, and their Friday and Saturday night specials can be borderline fabulous. My go-to is blackened haddock, but the Sugar Shack Salmon is pretty amazing too. Not a huge seafood fan? Try their black and gold burger, which is their burger plus onion ring on top combo. They also do a nice Caesar salad. And of course, the Salmon BLT Tacos are on the must-have list. The atmosphere? Very relaxed and casual… lots of people bring their families and friends here and chill out on the patio or inside at one of the large tables. The owners and wait staff are some of the nicest people, and Mary(one of the owners) will always recognize if there’s a new face and make sure things are to their liking. Need more incentive? They’ve won Taste of Oviedo People’s Choice award more years in a row than I can remember. Go, try some good food and make some new friends.

Unfortunately, my first impression wasn’t positive. Undercooked clam chowder(embarrassing for a «sea food shack») and a plain tasting BBQ sandwich rounded out my meal. As the place shares my name, I really wanted to like TJ’s and I will again someday-but not anytime soon. To be fair their service was speedy and the employees were very friendly.

This restaurant I discovered on Thursday has been here for seven years. I thought it was only about a year or two old. A friend from out of town recommended it after a search online. Now I will admit I prefer restaurants where I can sit down and have my order taken. I wasn’t sure at first what the process was but figured it out quickly. The young man at the register was very nice. My friend and I ordered lunch. He had a beer which was reasonably priced at $ 2. Special for the day. I was a bit surprised to find out lunch was almost $ 50! We ordered a side of fried oysters, one side salad, two entrees, beer, water and one dessert. I am by no means cheap at all but the total cost did surprise me for that kind of place. Though I know seafood is expensive and this isn’t a chain that can garner big discounts. The owner came around and we figured out who she was. Mary was very nice. I was surprised that I had to ask to have our dishes removed. They sat there for a long time and finally I was so tired of looking at them and asked that same nice young man to remove them and he promptly did. Not sure why I had to ask… seemed slow to do that in the restaurant. Food did come out pretty fast. It was fine. We ended up getting the wrong appetizer and one of the young ladies who worked there interrupted an important point in our conversation to point out the fact that it looked like we had someone else’s app. and they wondered where it went. Because it included oysters we figured it was ours. It was ok. I had the mango shrimp tacos. They were fine. Black beans and rice were delicious. I could have had more of them! My friend had some white fish and he was happy. He took home the dessert(key lime pie) and it looked fine. Reasonably priced for the size. Overall it was good food but not enough for me to go back. I like table service and if I am going to have what I consider Mexican food(know this is a seafood place!) I want guacamole with my tacos. And that is about the only thing on the menu of interest to me. However if you are in the area and want a quick seafood fix… by all means this is your place!

Great fish tacos and hush puppies, but a bit of a wait to get the food(even though the restaurant was not busy at the time). The fish tacos have a really good avocado sauce on them. Keep an eye on local coupon books that come in the mail because they often have a coupon for free hush puppies with your order.

Trying to convince my grandparents to branch out of their comfort zone of chain restaurants, I came across TJ’s on Unilocal and thought it looked great. We walked in at about 2.30 on a Friday afternoon and were the only ones in the restaurant. We were greeted right away by a friendly guy and he explained how you order at the counter. My grandma asked him what their specialty is and was told their tilapia tacos are award winning. We ended up ordering a bowl of clam chowder, a bowl of gumbo, two orders of tilapia tacos with rice/beans, and an order of fish and chips. I asked while ordering to please have one of the taco orders with corn tortillas, the server went into the kitchen and confirmed they do have corn tortillas(it is listed as an option on the menu) and told me no problem. When the orders arrived we first noticed how thin the clam chowder was. This is what my grandfather had ordered as his meal and he just couldn’t eat it, it had such a watery consistency. The gumbo wasn’t much better, with most of the ingredients tasting like canned vegetables. We did not get corn tortillas on the tacos as requested and the fish tasted blackened even though we ordered it grilled. The fish and chips was the best part of the meal, but was still only decent. Overall, we wouldn’t come back here. We paid $ 44 for four people, one who only a bowl of soup. If the quality were better and the service paid more attention, the price would be good. But for what we received, it was way overpriced.

Nice casual fried seafood place. I’ve been in east Orlando for 9 years and I’m still finding places like this that I’d never even heard off. Ask them what the specials are, if they’re busy they sometimes forget to let you know.
