I found some end tables on Craigslist that I really liked and it turned out there were at «New to You.» I called and asked if they could put«on hold» for me and the perfectly pleasant and professional woman on the phone told me that they don’t really do that but she would put them in the back of the store as long as I came in that day to pay for them, which I did. They were beautiful condition as a reasonable price. They also had a variety of other items in the store, a good but of furniture and clothing. The prices weren’t cheap but they weren’t all that expensive either. The woman working in the store was super nice and didn’t scream at me like a banshee. Then again, I didn’t attempt to bring a cart in a store that with is not really set up for cart shopping.

It has a selection of clean quality used items. From furniture to clothing to books and decorative items. Items can be on the higher side of cost.

If you think judgment day is a distant and unknown date you’re wrong. Judgement day will be the day you step foot in this establishment. As an avid thrifter and crafter I frequent thrift stores in the Oviedo area for raw goods, furniture, appliances, etc. Upon setting foot in New to You I was greeted by the shrill cry of a banshee with red hair and long fingers. «YOUCAN’T COMEINHEREWITH A SHOPPINGCART!» she cried. I retreated a step or two, «oh, I just intended to purchase an espresso machine and go». I’m unsure where said retail worker ascertained the authority to yell at customers at the entrance, but I had a mind in me to drop by with a bible and remind her that there is a greater authority we all answer to that disagrees with degrading and demeaning your fellow(wo)man. Whether it be social, economic, racial, or heavens know what superiority she’s suffering from, in the end it’s $ that talks, and I am no longer spending any more of mine at this establishment. A younger and kinder looking woman next to her said it was ok, but at this point the indignation and embarrassment was too much to bear. I left the store and said«no thank you». I would rather purchase my espresso machine from Amazon, because they love me, than have to be treated as a second class citizen at my local THRIFT store. I was so excited about my espresso machine, I almost cried walking out of this store with a great mission, but not so great customer service. To me, the difference between buying an item online and having it wait for me at my doorstep and actually driving somewhere to purchase something is customer service. If your employees can’t represent your establishment then training should be considered because even though they may not need *my* business, over time, negative relations with the public leads to a decline in business. My $ 35 wouldn’t have made that great of a difference, I may not have been the only one offended by the shrieking banshee greeter. Take it from walmart, senile smiling greeters at the front are the way to go…
