Have been a regular at Tanners 143 for 10 years but over the last 4 – 6 weeks something has changed. Service has completely tanked. Have walked out the last 2 out of 3 times because of service. Waiting 10 – 15 minutes to get a menu and water. Went there for the Raiders/Chiefs game and was seated in the back room. Took 30 minutes to order and an hour 20 to get food order that was wrong. Would have left if it weren’t for my son being with me. Really want them to get the service issue resolved.

If there was ever a Cheers in real life! This place surpasses it! Friendly people who actually care, run and own this place. If ya can’t have fun or get along… ya might have to look in the mirror!!!

Had a great experience hosting our daughters 21st birthday here! The manager, Matt, was prompt with information on advance ordering of party platters and answering questions about the evening. The party platters were delicious and generous for the price. The grilled sausage and cheese platter was a hit as well as the giant wing platter and the turkey sliders were fresh and well presented. They had a covered table ready for the food and cake and our Server was very attentive with every new guest that appeared in the room for their drink order. We were very happy with everything and will most definitely make this a go to place for future events.

Tanner’s is gross and has greasy foods and the waitresses are nice most of the time but some are very rude.

Went there tonight for steak night and watch the Royals while my wife had a girls night. The long time bartender there said I had to say please for my tab. The gentleman next to me said that is just the way she is. I won’t be back even though I live in Lionsgate. She is not that special. After spending that kind of money with drinks are you kidding me? She should be let go.

I agree with others that I’m not a big follower of the local chains in this town, but I’ll give credit to Tanners — especially this one on 143rd& Metcalf, for great food and service. My wife and I went here late last night(7⁄30), around 11PM. Fortunately the kitchen was still opened as we were seeking and restaurant that was still opened. We split a simple cheeseburger and an order of 10 Buffalo wings. The food was so hot and fresh and the burger was cooked perfectly. Female bartender had a few other patrons at the bar(where we sat) to tend to, but still paid us plenty of attention. Bottled domestic beer was spot on ICECOLD! My wife had a martini that she said was good and strong! Would definitely go here again when we’re in the part of town. Haven’t been to a Tanner’s in quite sometime and this location was the best one I’ve been to here in town. Keep up the great work!

This place is puzzling to me. Food is ok but not great. Several times we’ve been there our waitresses have acted like they don’t want to be there. Today they charged us $ 2.50 a piece for kids drinks… don’t kids meals come with a drink?! Part of my dad’s order was missing and our waitress said that it was all there. Be aware that a $ 5 kids meal is apparently a $ 7.50 meal because you will need a drink. Not cool Tanners.

I ordered the Friday meatloaf lunch special($ 6.49) and a soft drink($ 2.25) at my table. My order was served with a smile in about four minutes. The meatloaf was delicious, with a very generous serving size. The gravy and greeen beans were tasty, and the mashed potatoes were okay. The restaurant was clean, with a nicely done interior, plenty of TVs, and music playing. The service was friendly, quick, and attentive.

I live in Georgia and was up in the KC area to visit family. Some friends suggested the Tanners on 143rd for an informal reunion. Great service & good food. I saw plenty of TV’s so it looks like a perfect place to watch sporting events… with a tall frosty beer of course.

I’m giving Tanners two stars only because I like the atmosphere. Food was awful and our waitress was terrible. On one occasion we went to watch the Buckeye game and ordered nachos. The nachos were cold, bare, and stale. On another occasion we were happy to find they had half priced chicken sandwiches. However our server misinformed us that my choice was half price. To cover her mistake she brought me the wrong sandwich then got an attitude when I asked her about it. We have given it a few tries to get better, but have finally decided we won’t be going back. There are much better options around here. All in all, it was not worth the money and we have been disappointed every time.

Went in last week for the third time. It was Wednesday and Moscow mule night. Cool, I love those. I ordered one. Waitress goes away and comes back with no drink. We’re gonna need your license since it’s served in a copper mug. No problem, I said, that’s common. She takes the license and comes back again… we’re gonna need a credit card too, not just your license. At that point I told her to forget it and got something else. I’m not giving out my CC to sit behind a bar with my license(and contact info) for an hour so someone can steal my identity. Tanner’s, here’s a tip. If you can’t afford to lose a few mugs, don’t sell the drink! Their food is ok, but the service was iffy all three times.

We used to live out south, so this was our old stomping grounds. As always, the place was packed — even on a Thursday night! We had a large group and enjoyed great service, decent bar food and nice cold beer. Thursday is steak night, and a few in the group ordered steak and said it was quite good. We stuck with our favorite, wings! We get them charred, which really takes good wings and makes them great! Order«extra char» if you really like the grilled flavor. It was fun to be back with old friends at a great bar where we can always expect a good time!

For watching a game, there isnt a bad seat in the entire place. The food is decent quality and the service is usually on par. What is really great is the expansive bar(it wraps around and is one of the longest I’ve seen, and the great game viewing with a three monster projection TVs and tons of others lining the walls. The layout is nice and open so there are no obstructed views. Great location too — easy to find and get to.

Consistently good service, friendly atmosphere, great employees, good food and drink, plenty of TVs, just an all around good sports bar. My only complaint would be that some nights parents let their kids run wild.

Tanner’s, as a chain, is a good place. It’s not amazing, it’s not fantastic, it’s not anything but a good place. This Tanner’s, I believe, is slightly better than the rest. First, service is awful at every Tanner’s I have ever been to — three or four of them. This one has the best service, both at the bar and at the tables. The drinks are often mixed up a bit stronger than usual, and their beer selection is decent. Plenty of TVs make this a great place to watch a game. The food selections are pretty good for a bar, and taste is your average bar quality — no better, no worse.

There were 9 of us that went out last night to Tanner’s in Overland Park. We were seated right away. They let us pull a couple tables together and the waitress who looked 12, or maybe I am just getting really old now. Came and took our drank order. I was impressed this little waitress was able to carry a tray full of 12 beers/drinks and waters. She took our orders which ranged from straight off the menu. too one gluten free and my lactose free and everything came out perfect and fast. We were there 3 hours and she kept our glasses full and even when she had to close out she was super nice. She brought us our tickets and said if we needed anything else she would set us up with another waitress. We said no we were getting ready to leave and paid our tabs. I had the turkey club and the bacon was crispy and salty, the tomatoes were beautiful and ripe, the lettuce was freash and crispy and the turkey cut nice and thick all on a whole grain bread. The best think my Rum & Coke was only $ 3.50 and it was not happy hour, this is the regular price. I am used to $ 5-$ 7 for a rum & coke durning regular hours and $ 3.50 for happy hour. It was only $ 3.50 and it was dinner time. I am so going back. Great service, great food, and really cheap. Is it gormet? No, it is bar food, but really good bar food. Beware it is also a sports bar, so 9 of us girls catching up from high school had to talk over like 50 guys there to watch ball games, but I am still going back.
