Mark is THEBEST!!! I had been going to chiropractors since I was in elementary school due to various parts going«out»(i.e. Neck, ribs, coccyx, you name it). My problems worsened over time with greater frequency of incidents and not as much results. However, I could tell an immediate difference after only spending one session with Mark. His attention to detail is noticeable. His bedside manner is humorous, personable, patient and witty. His staff are real people that genuinely seem glad to be there with you. I found a treasure in finding this office. They care. I’m better now and am actually saddened I can’t keep returning! I loved my time there.(I’m pretty sure that at no other time in history has that been said about a medical visit!;)

After spending a year being very physically inactive because of a debilitating illness, a number of muscles seem to have decided to gang up on me and take their revenge! About a month ago I suddenly was having a lot of pain in my left shoulder and hip, and lesser pain in the same places on my right side. After consulting my primary care physician and getting a prescription for PT I went online to try to find a clinic that’s convenient to where I live. Lo and behold, Performance Rehab popped up, barely 5 minutes away, along with a few other locations. After looking at their website I decided to try Performance Rehab because all of their practitioners seem to have their Masters or Doctorates in Physical Therapy from KU, which has a very well-respected PT program. I figured that they’re likely to know what they’re doing! After just a few weeks the results are pretty dramatic! The pain in my shoulders is nearly gone and the range of motion in my arms is much, much better than when I started therapy. I can reach for the car door to close it without a shooting pain going through my upper arm, or reach into the washing machine to pull out clothes without a similar pain! I’m not back to 100% yet, but the improvement is very noticeable and I can function much better! Now we’re moving on to working on the hip and lower back pains that affect me when I’m standing or walking for any reasonable period of time. The therapist I’m working with is Paul Craig, but they have a number of therapists to choose from, both male and female. Their bios and credentials are on the website. From what I’ve seen they are very thorough and careful in evaluating and assessing a patient’s problem(s), and the exercises and activities they prescribe are very gentle and deliberately intended to be pain-free. That seems to be a change in focus from the last time I had to do any PT, back in 1990. By starting off with smaller movements that aren’t painful they can actually get the patient to move more and do more repetitions of actions, which helps to loosen up the targeted muscles pretty quickly! That undoubtedly explains the rapid progress in getting my shoulders working better again and with little pain! The clinic is in a free standing building near the corner of 135th and Nieman, in the same shopping center with the Price Chopper at 135th and Quivira. The therapy area is spacious and they have a lot of different machines and other equipment to use with patients. Performance Rehab seems to work with a lot of athletes — there are always several high school football or basketball players there, it seems, working on sports injuries. But everyone is very nice and I’ve never been there when it was crowded. All in all, I’m very pleased with Performance Rehab and I’m happy to recommend it to anyone looking for PT treatment in this part of town. UPDATE5÷3÷2015: I’m now basically pain-free and finished with regular therapy sessions, thanks to Paul’s careful efforts! I will continue to do exercises at home to keep the muscles from tightening up again and they will let me come back(for free) for a short session now and again just to check that I’m still doing the exercises properly.(It’s easy to start doing them incorrectly and end up hurting instead of helping yourself!) Whichever, I’m a happy camper! No more cripping around, hurting! Yay, PT!!!
