Massage Envy – North Overland Park

I barely got 50 minutes and it was pretty evident the massage therapist was inexperienced. He winked at me before he shut the door for me to disrobe, which I found odd. I requested deep tissue but he said that was tricky to do with my bone structure. I thought it was a 60 minute session and when I inquired about this, I was told «5 minutes pre and 5 minutes post consultation.» He had me in and out in 50. I’ll never return.

Awww. I don’t live in Kansas City anymore, but was back for a week recently for my wedding. My husband and I have a membership at Massage Envy, which we use often at the military base where we are currently located. I was happy to be able to use my monthly massage at one of the KC locations in the week leading up to my wedding, and was glad to have, ostensibly, the opportunity to schedule one for my then-​fiancé, who had a long, stressful road trip to get back to KC for the big event.
Had Massage Envy in OP come through, that would have been excellent. I called to book, late in the day, but well before close, and did not get an answer. I left a message, detailed our membership status, gave our (pretty open) availability, and my message went unreturned. This is unacceptable business practice. I suppose I could have followed up, but in being fairly focused on logistics and wedding prep, I had to write it off as a loss and move on. And, really, is it my responsibility, as the paying customer, to follow up? Our usual location is ultra-​conscientious, so I was really disappointed not to be able to go into my wedding weekend as relaxed as I’d have preferred, and sad that my husband couldn’t work out the kinks from an eight-​hour drive in partial white-​out driving conditions. Massage Envy fail. :(

Massage Envy — why didn’t someone think of this years ago? It combines a retail-​storefront vibe with basic massage services. No hoity-​toity spa froufrou, no trying to get into a busy doctor’s office, no sleaze. Just massage. (They also do facials, but I haven’t tried one yet.)
I’m one of those people with old sports injury + desk job that keeps me sitting for way too many hours + general daily stress = jeez, my shoulder/​back hurts. I’m so glad I’ve found an affordable place that I can just go get a massage without jumping through insurance-​referral hoops or any of that nonsense.

I’ve had many different kinds of massages from many different MT’s but I must say one of the very best is Adam. He is very professional, friendly and talks just enough! I always leave feeling like I’m having an «out of body» experience, really! The ladies at the front desk are always nice and remember me.

After my 90 minute hot stone massage, my muscles felt like buttah! I’m still in a bit of a trance today from yesterday’s massage. My hubbie actually asked me if I was high when I got home, I was that relaxed. The masseuse was professional, used appropriate pressure, changed pressure when requested and kept using the requested pressure (not something every masseuse can do). Do yourself a favor… go and get stoned at massage envy!

What can I say, Massage Envy — you had me at hello? As soon as I walked in, my very first time, you ushered me to a quiet room with muted lights and soft music. You let me relax on a comfy couch while flipping through a magazine. The massage therapist was oh-​so-​professional, and I could tell she actually took the time to review my intake questionaire. The massage lotion smelled divine, like butter cream frosting. I left with the perfect happy ending. No one of the sleazy ones you may be giggling about as you read this review, but one where I was oh so relaxed with all my tensions melted away.

Some people have old sports injuries – I have an old waitressing injury (not as cool). I waitressed all through college and towards the end of my impressive career, my left shoulder became a tight mess of pain.
X-​rays, probes, muscle relaxers, 15 – 20 massages later: still pain.
I was lured to this location based upon a $ 39 intro 1-​hour massage. I have been going back for several months and it is worth every penny. Caroline is my masseuse and she is AMAZING. She is the first masseuse who has listened to me and really works on alleviating my pain. She uses the perfect combination of pressure and technique.
I would suggest anyone who had back, neck shoulder pain or just needs to pamper themselves go see Caroline. It is amazing how much better I feel after I leave the warm, tranquil room. it seems like a splurge, but to become holistically well, $ 40(+ well deserved gratuity) is well worth it!
