Really 0 star. I tried to call for an appointment — no answer. I rode over at 10:30AM on Thursday and it was closed. Never got the chance to experience anything.

This is a gorgeous & very clean salon!!! The staff is very kind, social and professional! I got an awesome haircut and highlights that I looooove!!! Also had the best pedicure I have ever received here!!! They have disposable pedicure tubs for each client so you can never get a fungus like other salons(know too many that has happened to!) I would highly recommend!!! And of course helping the local businesses in this area after Sandy is an adder perk!!! The owner of this salon completely renovated the entire place beautifully right before sandy and then unfortunately completely again there after!!! So like most businesses in the ortley area they are struggling to get through this terrible time! I read others reviews about credit cards and lack of staffing. Cut people a break do you all not realize the devastation in that area people lost EVERYTHING. They are all just trying to stay afloat! I highly highly recommend this salon!!! U won’t regret it and you will highly enjoy your services and great friendly conversation!!! Hope this helps my fellow Unilocalers!!!

Allow me to be the first to review. I honestly shouldn’t be giving stars because after a long wait, I ended up leaving the salon with no services. The salon is very clean and well kept. It’s an inviting and relaxing environment. I called to make an appointment, and they were honest about staffing. You definitely need an appointment. There was only one person doing nails(I did try to visit on a Wednesday). The nail tech told me to come in an hour-and-a-half. I show up, and in the front window there are the stickers representing«we take credit cards.» I go in, and the nail tech is running over with her previous appointment. I ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes. I then ask for confirmation, «you take credit cards, right?» I almost felt stupid asking because they had the stickers in the window. «Nope. We don’t.» What. I waited an hour and a half for my appointment, then an additional 20 minutes and you’re not in-line with the 21st Century STANDARDS?! What full service salon accepts cash only? No, I don’t want to go to the ATM next door and pay a $ 5 fee to the ATM, then a fee to my bank. It is 2013. Get a Square for God’s sake. I’m sure the experience was going to be lovely. It really is a beautiful salon.

I didn’t want to be late. I was 10 min. early. That’s ok. I saw that a lady was going in. I waited outside because the place didn’t open yet. I wanted to give the woman a chance to set up. While I was waiting in the parking an old lady arrived for service. I said someone just arrived but, it’s not open yet. She just laughed at me & went in. Shortly after I went in & expected to have the hairdresser start my wash & blow out. Well the old lady went. & sat in a chair & the stylist started on her. Awkward! No greeting or introduction in the lot or when I was standing there wondering what I’m supposed to do. I sat & read mags. Another stylist came in. Real loud. Blah, blah, blah. It was actually entertaining. She did not acknowledge me either. To busy complaining about traffic. She conversed with the already there stylist. As I was sitting there another old lady showed up. She sat in another chair. They proceeded to offer them bagels & cream cheese. I’m thinking to myself. This is like watching a reality show. Finally, a receptionist shows up & asks me if I’m here for the wash & blowout. I was thinking to myself. Thank goodness someone knows why I’m here. I said, yes. She told me that Crystal is on her way. I’m thinking Stan is outside doing errands somewhere & this is already taking to long. I’m starting to get a lump in my stomach because we gotta go. We have a full day of plans & weekend traffic at the shore could take awhile. Crystal finally showed up. She told me to put my bag down & follow her to the bowl. I leaned back with a towel wrap & she sprays my head with freezing cold water. She didn’t even adjust it before putting it on my scalp. Shock. I mentioned, it’s kinda cold. Oh. She said. I explained that we were from San Francisco & we have friends at the Shore & I’m here today to get my hair washed & blown out with a iron out. It was so short a time at the bowl I actually asked her if she put conditioner in my hair. She said, yes. Forget even getting a massage. Don’t you get a little head massage when they are applying & working in the conditioner? I’m just glad I washed my hair yesterday. She said, where did you hear of us I said I’m a Unilocaler. Unilocal. So now I go to the chair. The mirrors are hung so high no one can see. I mean I could see myself from the nose up. It didn’t matter anyway because she swung me towards the waiting area. She proceeded with the blow dry. I told her straight like Louise Brooks, not a bob. I was a little uneasy because she was using a big curling brush. This was her shop. I wasn’t gonna micro manage. In the meantime I see Stanley getting put of the Jag to check up & see the progress. He comes in. I don’t saw anything to see if the hens greet him. Well. They were very happy. Hello. How can we help you? Would you like a coffee & bagel with cream cheese? I was floored. He declined with a smile. He said I’ll be at Sunny Hunny. Next door. Meanwhile this lady is blowing my hair and now she keeps burning my scalp & ear with the blow dryer. I’m like, hey ! It’s kinda HOT. Oh. Well now I just can’t wait til it’s over. We are only way through & I smell my hair burning. I smell burning hair. So she not burning my scalp but, now just my hair. The next fare walks through the door. Hi! Have a bagel with cream cheese & coffee. Can you believe his? I should contact Mel Brooks & tell this story. So… She sits & starts conversing with Crystal. Nice girl. Just fixing up their house. Blah, blah. All I could think is … Just get to the iron. I gotta go. Finally. The iron. It was just like a two second thing. My hair was a little poofy. I wanted it stick straight. I asked her to fix the bangs. She seemed put out & bothered. I didn’t get my 10% off for checking in. That experience cost me $ 30.00. $ 25.00 for service & $ 5.00 Tip. They got — a STAR for tartyness — a STAR for freezing my scalp — a STAR for no bagel & coffee — a STAR for burning me If your visiting from out of town. Forget about it. Pay the usual $ 45.00& get someone who actually wants your business at another salon.
