Delicious pizza, cold beer, reasonable price, and friendly staff. What else can you ask for?

This is a Maine classic and the Orono location is as good as it gets. Pats Pizza is an awesome thin crust pizza served in a classic college dive location. The service is friendly, fast and efficient. Do not visit UMO without making a trip to Pat’s!

You’re ordering a pepperoni pizza(dine in ONLY) and a can of Moxie. Nothing else. Enjoy what this storied landmark establishment has to offer. You’re welcome.

Not all that impressive but was decent enough. Caesar salad was tasty but that might have been due to its saltiness. Pizza was just ok. Toppings were ok but the crust was thin, and not yeasty enough. Besides the food, the place would be charming and passable if it was a bit cleaner. Seemed like it was the go to place for locals, especially in the summer when the college crown is elsewhere.

Get: Pepperoni & Jalapeño 10″ Pizza Pat’s Root Beer Wet Naps I was convinced my opinion of Pat’s was tilted with nostolgic pining. My father lived in Orono whereas I was born and have lived almost exclusively in Washington state. Periodic trips back east were never complete without a stop at Pat’s in Orono. Like an internal alarm clock, there comes a time each year where I find my mind drifting toward that memory of mouth-watering pizza sealed between two brown paper plates, parchment paper, and a few metal staples(get off my case, we got take out). And finally this last summer, I was able to field the opinion of someone not entirely assimilated by the Borg that is Pat’s and it’s fleet of nostalgia. My wife got the full treatment. We even ate in. At a wooden booth complete with all of the neglect and petrified memories that one counts on whence eating in at Pat’s of Orono. And, by God — she loved it. Even she was surprised. I had followed through on a promise! It was delicious and evoked cravings unlike she’d ever experienced. Further, she was not spurred by the crumbling décor — she found it endearing and evocative of reverence — ASITSHOULD. A trip to Orono. .. strike that. .. a trip to MAINE is not complete without a pizza from Pat’s of Orono. Appreciate it for what it is — a postage stamp of a time lapsed. .. coupled with some darn good pizza. Positives: It heals all that is bad in the world Negatives: How dare you speak ill of this national treasure?!

The original Pat’s! Be careful what day of the week you choose to enter, though. They can get absolutely slammed on Friday and Saturday nights being a local favorite. This place has been around forever serving up GREAT pizza pies. They deserve your business. It’s like stepping into a time warp and you’ll always remember it.

Used to eat there often in the 1990’s during college. Have been back in 2007 and 2014. The pizza is still very good. I just find myself wondering when they might clean and even replace some tile. The place us legendary among umaine students, but needs some sprucing up.

I have literally been going to Pat’s since I was born, their pizza is the pizza I judge all others by. It brings back so many memories every time I go there. While you’re there grab a can of moxie to compliment your amazing pizza.

I can not see any more than a one star rating. The restaurant is FILTHY. There is crud everywhere. Greasy caked on, sand blasting might do it, hazmat suit wearing, let’s get rid of it crud! Under the ovens Crud, on the ceiling, crud. Food is the second most favorite place for flys to land on and Pats is the host of many confused flys. They aren’t sure if they are landing on #1 or #2. The orders are wrong, food isn’t even mediocre, maybe if your use to prison food it would please you. Other than that. I won’t be going back any time soon.

Oh, Pat’s…how I miss you! Your pizza sustained me through four years of college and I can still remember what it tasted like! I can’t count how many Pat’s pizzas I ate during my time at the University of Maine, but it was a lot. I passed through Orono a few years ago on a trip to Bar Harbor and of course, I had to stop for a pie. Just like I remembered! I agree with everyone who said if you’re not from the area, or went to school there like me, you just don’t get it. Pat’s is an institution in Orono!

Breadsticks are THEBEST. Thin crust isn’t for everyone, but I LOVEIT. Lots of toppings, too. Pretty decent price.

You don’t miss a great pizza joint until you move away! Pats is a great atmosphere. Food and beer are cheap and great. I have many fond memories of Pats, their pizzas and UMO hockey. The fried mushrooms are delicious as well as their various pizzas.

Retro review coming up. I spent a few years at the U of Maine(class of ’62). Stopped in to Pat’s on a trip back up that way in 2000. Somewhere I have my «Master’s of Malt Beverages» from there. Yes, the pizza was different but was cheap pub grub for a poor college student to wash down with some cold«Gansett. Remember them delivering a lot of pizzas to the dorms back then. Good times.

Love this place, it must stop for anyone who enjoys great pizza pie. The establishment has been around since my mom was a little girl. I was introduced to PATS by my Aunt and Uncle and now take my kids there when ever where in town. Love there meat lovers Pizza, and my kids say there cheese pizza is the cheesiest and great tasting. Always take one for the road . The main room looks like you stepped back time right. Traditional diner bar stools and booths. Yup ready for road trip just for some PATs pizza

Pat’s in Orono is an institution. There’s only one way to go here– an individual, ten inch pizza with your choice of toppings. The dough isn’t heavy– unless you get«double dough” — and the crust is minimal. Toppings range from your standards to banana peppers and three different types of olives. The main room is a step back in time, with wooden booths and a diner-style bar. The Red Room has booths and tables for larger parties. Downstairs is the Tap Room– a perfect spot to watch a game with flatscreens and long, communal tables. If you are in the heart of Vacationland, make the pilgrimage!!!

For a Mainer, reviewing Pat’s Pizza is like auditing your mother. There’s no way you’re going to be objective. Fact is, I grew up on this stuff, and my memories of hanging out here with my friends before hockey games or when extended family came to town are irreplaceable. The sights and sounds and smells(and tastes) of Pat’s are part of my DNA, and no doubt clog the cockles of my heart to this day. …but about those smells. I can see why outtah statahs have such a hard time with this place: if it feels like you’re eating in a diner that hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years, it’s because you’re eating in a diner that hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years(or, perhaps, in the basement of a diner that hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years). This is charming to the locals of course, and perhaps there’s some social commentary about the community’s resistance to change embedded in that stubborn frozen-in-time décor. Fortunately, the prices are also out of date, and you can get a great meal here on the cheap. And the pizza is truly unique and delicious – theories abound, but I think it has something to do with the crust. I hate to add to the all too common ‘if you’re not from here you just don’t understand’ ideology, but admittedly a lot of this place’s charm has to do with its place in the local community. But if you’re in Orono, you really do have to try it. And when you’re there, be friendly, laid back, and sincere, and you’ll fit right in.* * Offer does not apply to Yankees fans.

Okay so when I first moved to Bangor, ME … I was told that I have to go to Pat’s Pizza to try their pies and really good food. So, a few buddies and I meandered over to the downstairs section to watch the game and grab a few wobbly pops and some zas. We were sadly dissapointed. Let me describe the experience for you: Pizza was overly greasy where it made the crust soggy and non firm at all(I like a little grease and some plaibility of the crust but this was BADNEWS the crust even seperated in my buds hands it was so greasy. The service was some of the worst we have ever had. This guy that was working there was rude and really did not want to be there. He never came back to our table and checked on us and actually threw the food when he delivered it. The tables were not cleaned, just had a shimmer of grease from the previous patrons before us where I could have grabbed a credit card and scraped off some sludge. Lastly the place was not that crowded and when we asked if we could watch the Patriots game(Red Sox were on) the guy said. yeah I am watching the Sox. Really? Not even a gesture of putting it on the other TV for us? If you want to go to a bar/pizza joint in the middle of a college community(UMaine Orono). Of if you want some late night grub after a night of drinking then go there because you will be feeling good and not being critical like this Unilocaler. Sorry Pat’s you did not live up to your reputation.

Pizza has got to be one of the most subjective food items in the world. Thin crust, thick crust, deep dish, exotic toppings, plain toppings. I know people who absolutely hate pizza that I really like. And probably vice-versa. But Pat’s has booze, table service, and is a way more pleasant place to eat than most of the zillion identical pizza and sub joiints all over New England. I thought the pizza was quite acceptable too, but as I said above, take it with a grain of salt.
