I’m a lover of Mediterranean meals so I was ecstatic about discovering WhiteWood! To my surprise, both times I’ve eaten there, I got sick. Like really, really sick! Not only me, but a few of my friends as well! It’s a cool spot in the heart of downtown. Service was always good, unfortunately I can’t speak so highly of anything else!

The restaurant apparently serves bugs with their falafel, and is now closed:

If you follow my reviews you already know I am a creature of habit, and when I find something I like I am stuck on it. I am stuck on Whitewood and their Napoli flatbread! Aww man. Is it me, or do you ever want to get lunch out but you are craving a tasty yet light dish and don’t know where to go? The 2 p.m. struggle is real and I am all too familiar with a food coma, lol. Whitewood is the perfect place to accommodate the need for tasty food without the after-lunch sleepy feeling. They have a variety of dishes that I confidently say could accommodate almost every foodie’s preferences. I love the flatbread so much that I’ve never tried anything else. Terrible I know! The only downside to this place is it gets packed quick. Which can be frustrating but at least it speaks volumes about their menu. If you are trying to visit at lunch time leave your office early or right at 12 p.m. and head over. They do have a bit of seating but again, this place crowds quickly. If you do get stuck in line don’t fret. It is totally worth the wait.

Pricey for delivery that’s why I gave it 4 stars but very good food the chicken breast and basmati rice are very much on point!

First off, the food is good. It used to be better, but its still okay for a quick lunch downtown. Chicken shawrma is my go-to. The customer service on the other hand is downright atrocious. The owner is rude, condescending, and, truthfully, acts like he couldn’t give a damn about his customers. Good luck even getting them to pickup the phone for a take-out order. It really is a wonder to me that this place has stayed around as long as it has given the utterly depressing service. There are many other places in the area more deserving of your patronage.

I got the lamb gyro and it was good. Nothing special about it, but it was good. The wait for takeout wasn’t too bad. The place isn’t going to blow your socks off, but you’ll get solid quality at a reasonable price.

BIGFAN of this great little place! If you want authentic Greek, this is the place to go if you are in Downtown Orlando! It is all outside seating which may get a bit hot on a typical Florida day. But, ill tell you this, if it was too hot I would order and sit in my car with the air on to enjoy this food any day! I opted for the Greek Salad with Lamb. I would have liked to see the normal greek potato salad added but I can do without the extra carbs. Their menu is quite large and features some fantastic dishes! All of the plates that came out when I was there were very impressive. They all looked very fresh and colorful. I will be a regular at this joint every time I’m in the area!

I just received my order of hummus, mixed grill kabobs w/mixed veggies and a margherita flatbread. The good: the steak and chicken kabobs. Well, not overly cooked or seasoned. The bad: everything else. I could get over the microwaved bits of celery and carrots for my ‘mixed veggie’ sides. The hummus was so thin in inconsistency, it was nauseating. Flavor was ok once you got over the slime texture. The pieces of pita were boxed separately, but we’re somehow covered in random sauces at the edges. I’ve worked in many restaurants. They were clearly pulled from another dish. And it being Saturday evening– that is a DISGUSTING thought. The real loser of the meal was the margherita pizza. Size and initial glance of ingredients made me think it looked great. Then I noticed a green sludge sauce at a few corners of the pizza. No matter, I figured, so I took a different piece and took a bite. It was(again) nauseatingly mushy, and the taste reminded me of egg salad. There was a THICK layer of green tinted mayonnaise coating the entire flatbread under the cheese. The entire thing went in the trash. It was easily the grossest thing I have ever eaten. I understand a restaurant trying to put a spin on dishes– but mayonnaise?!? And no, that was not listed in the menu’s description. Above all, the pita bread that had clearly been removed from another dish is what killed this place for me. I don’t even want to think about it any longer.

I stopped in here for lunch today and was a little disappointed. I had the Farmer’s Falafel Wrap, recommended by the guy taking my order, but it was pretty bland, despite having hummus, tabouleh, and tahini in the mix. It also didn’t come with anything, which makes the $ 8.50 a little steep. I’ll certainly give them another try, but I’ll stick to Annie’s for a downtown falafel.(which sounds like some weird sexual thing but hopefully isn’t…)

I was just hung up on by some rude lady who answered the phone when I asked for delivery. This business never delivers. ever. Its totally false advertising and Unilocal you should make them update their listing. With so many better choices downtown — I’m never going to to patron Whitewood again because they clearly hire rude staff members who hang up on customers and call them names. I will also be reporting this company to the BBB.

4 Stars for great Mediterranean lunch spot in the heart of downtown! I placed a large order with some colleagues and initially was impressed with how quickly they put it together and labeled everything. And I stayed impressed as I ate tons of flatbreads, salad, olives, hummus, etc. everything I tried was really flavorful and the textures were perfect. I appreciated how easy it was to order for a diverse group as they have many options for vegetarians. This is a great lunch spot in DT and I’ll definitely be back!(Esp. now that I know they have beer & wine!)

My mouth waters every time I walk by this place. This has to be one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Orlando. You can literally watch the guys behind the counter cut the meat of the spit. The stuffed grape leaves are always fresh, and the hummus is delicious. The best part? All of this can be had at an affordable price! Whenever I’m downtown and am hungry, this is my go to place.

Mediocre mediterranean place. We came here cuz it was one of the meager choices in street on New Year’s Day. Their hummus doesn’t have the right consistency, too thin. And the flavor was really off! Seems like they put too much tahini, and not enough chick peas. And their baba ghanoush was too salty as well. The flavor of the chicle was good, but the meat was not reasonably brined, so it became very dry and tough after grilled.

The most dopest illest Mediterranean food in Orlando hands down. I usually get the chicken shwarma, and it may perhaps be the most delicious plate of nom ever. The garlic sauce stuff on it is so good I wish I could get a whole bottle of it and drink it forever. Also a cool vibe, street sounds, relatively clean.

What a great restaurant! I really enjoyed the open air concept, so even if you are sitting inside, you feel like you are outside. It is situated on the corner of Orange and Central and is awesome for people watching. We were going to the SAK comedy that night and needed something quick and close to the club. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If you are unfamiliar with Mediterranean food, just ask and they will give you a great recommendation. The food is phenomenal. I got steak kebabs and it came with rice and 2 sides. I got the hummus and it was delicious! I also got the potatoes and they were good. My favorite was definitely the rice and hummus. I really enjoyed this restaurant and highly recommend it. I will definitely come back again when I’m in downtown.

I was downtown with friends watching the World Cup final, starving, & decided I could not hold out any longer & walk in to the first place I saw: Whitewood Mediterranean Grill. Boy am I glad my hunger steered me towards Whitewood’s direction! I ordered falafels(I was BUMMED) but they were sold out so I ended up with the Medi-Eggplant panini & it was a revelation! Crispy eggplant goodness topped with delicious hummus & feta? Hello, who doesn’t love that?! I was so pleasantly surprised since my first visit I’ve been back several times. And yes, I finally had the falafel & it was worth the wait. If you’re looking for an inexpensive yet flavorful bite in downtown check out Whitewood. Quick, delicious & totally satisfying!

A great corner shop right on the cusp of Wall Street Plaza. I arrived prior to the USA vs Belgium game, and many of the surrounding restaurants weren’t serving lunch or open for that matter! I wanted something savory, but healthy, and WMG not only hit the spot, but provided a meal with a great cost/value. What caught my eye about the venue was that all the windows open up to the street front, allowing diners to enjoy the benefits of dining al fresco with the safety of an overhang to keep them out of the elements. Parties of varying size can be accommodated, but be prepared to wait as items are assembled as they are ordered. I really enjoyed my Lamb Gyro platter which came on spiced rice(instead of a bread wrap) and for $ 10.89 included two sides. The fresh veggies and Grandma’s Grape Leaves were perfectly matched for the summer heat. The combination was light and refreshing and as I enjoyed my meal with a beer, I felt like I was sitting in a café in Greece, instead of listening to the downtown, lunch rush traffic of Orlando. Water is also available from their sofa fountain at no additional charge, and they have lemon slices and to go lids, so you can take your hydration with you. Although I was given a service number card to place on my table, I didn’t wait long at all. I could see that this place would easily get packed during the weekday lunch scramble as most of the other surrounding options are fast food. There was a decent crowd of folks on their lunch break which is always a testament to the speed and satisfaction with the service. Also, Mediterranean Food Novices rejoice! If you aren’t too familiar with Greek food, the staff are more than willing to explain what is in each dish without feeling like you’re an ignorant tourist. ;)

Inexpensive and delicious Mediterranean food. My gyro was HUGE. The meat was well seasoned and the pita was soft and fluffy. It’s super casual. I liked the al fresco dining situation, even on a 95 degree day. The service is friendly and fast, and the portions are generous. I think I’ll go crazy next time and get my gyro Dubai style(love that that is even an option). A great lunch break when you’re downtown or at the library, like I. Always. Am.

It’s always a good sign when you’re out to dinner and your friends insist you write a good review of the place. That was the case with Whitewood. We met up downtown without any real dinner plans, and Whitewood just happened to be closest. We really lucked out. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. It was 7:30 on a Friday night and there was only one other table eating dinner and couple at a table with a hookah, so it was pretty dead. The server was really nice and explained the different menu items. We all ordered different platters. I had the falafel with grape leaves and baba ghanoush. It was all very good, but I was particularly fond of the grape leaves(so much so that I raided the ones others didn’t finish). The portions were large, and seemed like a good price for a downtown dinner(we spent right around $ 10 each). Overall, great experience. We will certainly be back.

Tasty, fresh and filling sandwiches. The bread is nice and thin with char marks from the grill. I tried the steak and chicken shawarma and they where both good. Service was quick and prompt. They serve hookah but this is definitely a food joint first
