Rarely ever get to enjoy myself here. Girlfriend always gets weird service. Food is okay and I guess the sports bar atmosphere is there. There are better places to spend money in the area and I recommend going elsewhere.

We were staying in a hotel off of Ivanhoe and were looking for a place to grab dinner on Sunday night. A search showed that that The Hideaway was nearby and had an overall rating of 4 stars… And it had«Bar» in the title, which got extra points! That said, while I love a good dive bar, this place was more cluttered and tacky vs. divey. When we pulled into the parking lot, the first thing I noticed were the porta-potties across from the patio area. I jokingly said this must be a classy place, as they had porta-potties for the patrons. It turns out that wasn’t a joke! As others have mentioned, the parking lot behind this bar is small; There were only about 8 patrons here when we arrived and we still got about the last open space. We had a look at the menu and it was pretty solid for a dive bar. Mostly burgers, wings, sandwiches and deep fried appetizers and sides, but a decent variety of all those things. I looked around and noticed that under the pool table they were storing lots of stuff in plain view of patrons, including large bundles of napkins, paper towels and boxes of other supplies. When I turned around to check out the video games and pinball, I noticed they had boxes of snack chips stacked on one of the video games between the console and the screen. I’ve seen in photos as old as 2010 that it’s always been cluttered like this with storage under the pool table and video games. When I was looking for the restroom, I was told that the portable toilets at the entrance to the parking lot were the only option. The dispensers of hand sanitizer in the potties were empty, and there were beer bottles thrown into the toilets. The bright side was the friendliness of the staff and the fact that this place has lots of screens for watching sports and other programming. Note that they do allow smoking here, and your clothes will reek of it once you’ve left, even with few patrons in the place. This seems to be a bar for true and dedicated drunks, as their happy hour specials through the week start at 7 a.m. and their Saturday happy hour runs from 7 — 10 a.m. We were told by one staff member that this is primarily for the nurses and employees of the nearby medical center who want to drink after they’re finished the overnight shift, and that sometimes there is a small line waiting to get in when they first open in the mornings. I got the 10 wings for $ 7; ranch and blue cheese are extra as was celery, but I can live with that as the wings were pretty decent sized, though the mild wings I got were dry with no real sauce on them. I also got an order of fries which were good. They had a decent amount of beers on tap and in bottles as well as a full bar. In total, with the wings, fries and 3 draft beers, my total bill came to just under $ 25 before gratuity. Note that The Hideaway accepts cash only, though there is an ATM on site.

I LOVE this place! Great atmosphere, good drinks and outstanding food– especially the chicken wings which are so consistently good! But one must remember that this is a DIVE Bar, if you expect more than that, you will be sadly disappointed. While they LOVE their regulars, they treat newcomers with the same respect. If you are a Dolphin fan, this is your place to commiserate the losses and to cheer the wins!

Smoky bar, strong drinks, great little neighborhood spot to grab a drink with friends. My only complaint is the smoke but I usually jus sit on the patio. I’ve never gotten food here but the menu is pretty typical bar food.

Moving to Orlando and had to check out the best dive bars. Conveniently located, small private parking lot with I think 8 spots, 3 are parallel. Went for lunch/early happy hour and it was a little busy but we received prompt service. Friendly bartenders and food came out timely. BBQ cheeseburger — bun is awesome, Hideaway Burger rated by my burger connoisseur of a boyfriend as a 3.5÷5. Overall a chill divey place. Pool tables and ATM because this place is CASHONLY. Cheers!

Never have I felt more confounded by Unilocal reviews than the 4+ stars given to The Hideaway in Winter Park… Sometimes on Sundays, the cook(me) takes the day off, & my son, my spouse & I go someplace new. After reading an article in the newspaper that said The Hideaway was good, we checked Unilocal ratings, saw it had 4. something stars & decided to check it out. There was no parking left in the tiny lot, so the husband dropped us off & went to park. This turned out to be a tactical error, as we couldn’t turn around & get back in the car as soon as we walked inside & got blasted by crackling speakers distortedly blaring football & Cialis commercials. Then there was the cigarette smoke & the loud screaming patrons. Dad was still parking, ending up literally 6 blocks away, & we were all pretty hungry, so we ordered for all before Dad even got back, hoping we could be out sooner. Unfortunately we managed to hit the Hideaway during a Miami Dolphins game. Apparently this is where local Fins fans go to cheer on their team, which is fine; Dad is a huge football fan, so we understand team spirit. But this is a tiny place, & many of these people were really freaking out, in unison, as the Dolphins were loosing. They were yelling full blast & jumping about like they were in the stadium at the actual game. There was one patron in particular, «REX #14» according to his team jersey, who seemed to be the de facto leader of the gang, kind of like Rick on the Walking Dead, but obnoxious. Rex bellowed & screamed at the top of his ample lungs every single time ANYTHING happened. «ANDTHAT’S ANOTHERMIAMIDOLPHIN _______(fumble, first down, etc.)» followed by big booming ham handed clapping & then pounding on the bar. It was like he was providing an extremely animated running commentary of the whole event, & it sounded like he was doing so on a freaking bullhorn or a microphone set on maximum. Honestly, if I’d had some tomatoes, I might have beaned him good. He was dancing around, like the«hey, people, all eyes & ears on me, NOW!!» type, but on steroids, & there was no escaping him, not even with your ears covered. This is not The Hideaways fault, however. But other things were; there was a dirty ashtray with used ciggies on our table. Our server, a nice but busy lady, took our orders, which were simple, because all they have here are wings, burgers, hot dogs & a few sandwiches & sides. The boys had«plain old burgers» as the menu calls them, me the«hot wings». After enduring 25 minutes of smoke & high dB noise while we waited for our food, some people near us lit up clove cigarettes. It was a toxic combination. I got up & went outside for air just as our food came, hoping to find a quieter low smoke place, but with street noise & those speakers set on «STUN» it was just as loud. Plus, there were lots of smokers there, too, so we just went back to our table to eat & run. When the burgers arrived, they were dry little meat pucks, ordered plain but drowning in ketchup. They came with bag chips. The hot wings were spiceless, room temperature to cool, tasted old, & were overcooked to the point of chalkiness in parts. The place was busy, but not crazy busy; maybe they par– cooked food ahead because it was game day, then reheated it, but this was not at all the«dank» «awesome» foods we’d read about. In all fairness, the celery was fabulous, however, some of the best celery ever. When I went to the restroom to wash my hands, I saw the kitchen. It was an area about the size of a closet or studio apartment kitchen & really«rustic». I’ve lived in the area since the 1980s, LOVE a good dive & have been to The Hideaway for drinks years ago, but this was the first & last time for food. So, this is where I buck the trend to give The Hideaway 4 – 5 stars. My ears will never be the same after Rex’s ridiculous ranting, my clothes stink like cigarettes, & I’m out $ 27 but didnt eat, so I’m hangry. I’m really sorry, don’t usually do low stars, but imho, the food at this place blows. Oh, yeah, & if you do go, BRINGCA$H!!! No plastic accepted!

Interesting bar with a friendly staff and tasty wings. I’m not much of a bar/pub person(hence the lower rating). I really didn’t enjoy the stench of feet and smoke lingering in the air. After a while, you kind of get used to it, but you’ll definitely leave the place smelling like you smoked a pack of cigarettes. Aside from that, the service here is really good. The staff is super friendly and attentive. During our 1.5 hours here, two servers checked up on us around the clock. The food took a little to come out, but the wings and onion rings we ordered were tasty. I’d advise against the teriyaki though. I was expecting a sweet sauce, but it was more savory and tart than anything. Prices are really reasonable here and service is great. If you can overlook the smell of this place, definitely hit it up!

Great bar food, amazing burgers and sandwiches. I only wish they accepted cards. It’s very convenient because I can walk there from work. However it has costed me $ 10 for a grilled cheese and fries which I think is crazy.

Stopped in here for lunch this past Wednesday while running some errands. I never tried any of the food offerings that The Hideaway has on their menu. I ordered a «Plain Old Burger», with chips and pickle($ 6.00). Washed it down with a small pitcher of Bud Light($ 5.00). My total came up to $ 11.64. My hamburger was served immediately from the kitchen, and it was delicious. A good burger for the price. As I mentioned before, Hideaway is not that close to me. But if I am in the area, I will most likely stop in here again and try a different hamburger from their menu.

A local favorite, but get there early if you want to get a spot on the pool table. I would say that is the only downturn to the small cap. Great vibe though!

Not even ending the night breaking my cell phone here could ruin my great first experience at Hideaway! Sitting on the patio for four hours, a hodge podge of characters came in and out, including all the dive bar stereotypes and families too. They have a good happy hour and pour liquor drinks as strong as any other mills bar, despite being just on the border of that district. They also serve a number of beers in pint, small and large pitcher formats and have a decent craft beer list. Several servers took care of us throughout the night and they were all fantastic. Both the patio and inside bar can get rowdy and noisy and they have a pool table and other games inside. The smoke scent still drifts on to the patio and into your clothes, but I’d be willing to put up with that here. The biggest surprise is the FANTASTIC food that they serve! Their chicken quesadillas are my new favorite in town– they are giant and flavorful and reheat well the next day. I also took home a hot marino sub for the boyfriend whose exact words were«this is how roast beef should taste».” For $ 8.50 it comes piled with roast beef, ham, salami and a slew of cheeses and toppings. Remember it’s cash only, has a tiny parking lot and you’re on your own if you wear any colors but the dolphins on game day!

Somewhere between a neighborhood pub and a dive bar. Staff is friendly. The crowd is a great mix of locals from the area… There is a limited food menu and it’s pretty good for the price. Downside: cash only. Kind of a pain to not be able to use a debit card. They have an ATM inside but there is a service fee to use it. The other downside: it’s smokey inside. I’m not a smoker so this keeps me from visiting more often but if you don’t mind smelling like an ashtray it’s not a problem I guess.

4 Stars for great burgers, really friendly service, and feeling like a true local. I’ve been holding off on reviewing The Hideaway because I’d only been for a drink. I kept hearing that they make a mean burger but somehow just couldn’t believe it. Until tonight. Holy hell. That’s a freaking great, simple burger! I haven’t had such a solid burger in a while. I really appreciate over-the-top ingredients and flavors, and The Hideaway does have some interesting combinations, but there’s something to be said about a great plain ol’ burger. Dang. A few notes– Parking is very limited, but there are plenty of side streets. Again, it’s cash only, though there is an ATM inside. The screeching metal on metal sound that’s making your skin crawl is just someone taking a seat. Seriously, the sound is pretty horrendous. But you’ll live. We took a seat on the patio(which I prefer to the dark inside bar) and it was fun seeing who would walk up next– Folks with dogs, men in business attire(just off of work on a Friday), young couples on bikes, older leathery Floridians. It’s just a really chill spot and it looks like the neighbors know it. And now I do too. :)

The Hideaway is one of my favorite Orlando bars. Most of the people who come here are locals from all walks of life and every one of the bartenders is awesome. They also have pretty decent burgers and certainly hold their own against places like Graffiti Junktion. It is cash only bu there is an ATM there. There is also outdoor seating which is another reason to choose Hideaway over the other places around.

A nice place to enjoy some sunshine in Orlando with great drinks and snacks. The jack Apple slush was indeed a good one, and you can get a cheaper price for refilling the cup.

Just like all other reviews this place is fun. The burgers will surprise you. They don’t look big at first but you will keep on eating. The drinks are made with a loving and heavy hand. They have a weekly pool league with one of the fastest table I have experienced. Now if your not big on smoke you will want to be out side. It’s a smokers paradise…

I went here recently with a friend who wanted to check out a beer they had on tap. I was excited because on Facebook it said they had a Cigar City Peach Cider. Unfortunately they were out of it, but the bartender made me a great peach drink to make up for it. It totally did! So just be careful of their specials and beer lists on the FB page as they may not be up to date or accurate. This is definitely a dive bar — jukebox, pool table, smoking(yup, its allowed inside), loud people, and tvs with all sorts of sports and trashy shows on. They do serve food and my friend enjoyed the patty melt that she ordered. In fact most of the food that made its way by us looked and smelled good. If I hadnt eaten beforehand I probably would have tried something out. Parking is a bit of a pain due to the location and the small«one way in and out» lot behind the bar. Definitely look for side street parking if you can.

Probably the last dive bar in the area. Fair prices and chill atmosphere. Just beware, it’s allowed to smoke inside so even if you don’t smoke you’ll go home smelling as if you did. In spite of that it’s actually a neat place to go to occasionally when you’re tired of all the pretentious and hipster bars.

I discovered The Hideaway over 10 years ago. It was summer 2004, the year Florida had three hurricanes pass through. I think this was around the time Charlie hit. We were looking for place to chill and the Hideaway was open, much to our pleasant surprise. Since then we’ve been returning every so often to this little sports bar tucked away near Virginia and Orange. For years we would take our golden retriever Missy and hang out in the front patio. For awhile we were known as the«Missy» party. We would join friends and have beers, wings, burgers, philly cheese steaks. We would hit trivia night on Tuesdays, attend patio birthday parties, or just chill with a drink. Inside, you know the drill: divey atmosphere, pool table, tvs behind the bar, friendly bartenders, pinball machine, jukebox. They still don’t take credit cards, but there is an ATM available. Check out the big murals from local artist Andrew Spear. Park on a side street(on the other side of Virginia) if their small lot is full. Magic and Dolphin fans are welcome. Note: smoking is allowed here, but their filtration system is pretty good. This is a real bar with no pretension. It’s a constant in the area, like gravity.

Love this place! The food is pretty good(had a basket of wings and bf had the plain cheeseburger). Beer is beer. It’s kinda small and the bar is kinda tight. So if you go on a busy night expect to bump elbows with a stranger. The only downfall is that the place is cash only… Come on now, really? Went to go watch the Super Bowl and everyone was really friendly. Lots of regulars. The service is great. Will be going back often!
