Just superb. Service and food were lovely. Would highly recommend. We were able to take our sweet time and enjoy the meal in an unrushed and comfortable fashion in advance of a Cirque show. I always love a J. Alexander meal. They never seem to miss.

This was a bad eating experience, very unfriendly staff. Tuna poor quality. Staff was not knowledgeable about the food. Too expensive for what you get. I would go to seasons 52, they are so friendly, and great prices for the quality you get.

My husband and I had lunch at J. Alexander’s before heading home to Miami. We have dined here once before and both times the food was very good. I am basing this review on management and poor planning. About 3 – 5 minutes after receiving our food, the power went out. There was a horrible storm that day. We basically ate our entire meal in the dark. Hey whatever, it happens. My poor rating is for them not being prepared. We were not even offered a candle to help brighten our table and our waiter pretty much disappeared. About 20 minutes later he showed up with the check and asked if we had cash bc the credit card machines were down. Seriously?! After eating our entire meal in the dark with no svc u would at least expect something for the inconvenience. They ended up copying our card the old fashioned way and charging us later. A restaurant group like Hillstone /Houstons would not have charged us at all in hopes that we would return. At least the food was good. We do visit Orlando a few times a yer. Overall, I may return, but with all of the dining options in the area, it will probably be a while until I do.

J Alexander’s is the kind of small US restaurant chain that just does everything right and I wish we had over in the UK. The interior is atmospheric and masculine with a ‘contemporary’ style vibe in an expansive dining area with comfy booths and low hanging mood lighting. The Mad Men analogy is a good one. Service is top notch and just hums along. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Kettle One Martini to start. Good and cold with a top up left on the side. Our starters were generous and well prepared. My NY strip was was perfect with great mac and cheese on the side. Staff were great with friendly and super efficient, courteous service. Hope to visit again.

I’ll go here just for the excellent service and attention to detail. There were 3 of us and we wanted the fish tacos as an appetizer(2 per order). The chef came out and made an additional without even asking! Wow! Also, they were very accomodating with special requests and very attentive. Why can’t we get this kind of service EVERYWHERE! If you save room for dessert, be warned, the carrot cake is the size of my head and pretty good!

Lack of focus, all over the map. you can get a sandwich or steak dinner. The menu needs some serious Ritalin overdose. Mexico, Israel, Maui are used to describe some courses. They try too hard to please everyone, a good location might be the UN cafeteria. Nuff said.

A disappointing and not particularly successful copy of Houston’s(now Hilstone’s). Table service is uneven, and the food is just okay. Sandwich pricing is for tourists, so it’s impossible to get lunch for less than about $ 20 with tip and drink. Happy hour is a good deal, but no better than Morton’s or Flemings, where the steaks and burgers are better.

I can never figure out why this place is not packed every night. J. Alexander’s is a reasonably priced gem in a highly saturated restaurant row filled with high priced options. The location is not bad. Its in with a couple other restaurants and stores. Parking is a bit of a pain, but I still would not recommend the valet. The restaurant itself is a little dark, with an open kitchen concept. The design is such that even with a crowd, the restaurant stays pretty quiet. Service is generally pretty good and above average, although it can be a little slow. Even on the slow days the staff is cheerful and ready to help. The food is good, quality American fare. As an appetizer, my kids love the spinach con queso. It is a fair size of dip with an abundance of chips. Personally I love the onion rings. They are enormous! You could literally use the smallest of them as an adult bracelet. Entrees are generally quite large and will leave little room for dessert. The cheeseburger is good, but the French dip and prime rib sandwiches are well above average, and are priced well. The steaks and prime rib are also good choices. Again, they are good sized meals, with generous portions of sides. The mac and cheese is a must have side. Its big enough to share between two people, very rich and creamy. While I tend to like a southern style mac and cheese, this is among the top five I have eaten. The pork tenderloin is delicious, but the flavor of the pork is masked by the slightly spicy bang bang sauce. Crab cakes will not leave you loosening your belt, but are very good with large chunks of crab. As a pasta dish, the Rattlesnake pasta is very good, and again, not outrageously priced. The kids love the chicken tenders, which are flavorfully breaded and fried. They are a good choice as there is no formal children’s menu. That being said, the kitchen has always been willing to put something together to make the kids happy. As for desserts, if you still have room, skip everything but the carrot cake. Its served warm with melty cream cheese icing and is just beyond delicious. If you just cant stand warm melty goodness, go ahead and get the key lime pie, or crème brûlée. Both are serviceable, and would be good desserts on any menu, but pale in comparison to the carrot cake. J Alexanders takes reservations, and they are apparently recommended, but I have found they are usually not needed unless going with a group larger than four people.

Great happy hour! $ 6 burger and fries. High quality burger and great beer prices. A great cheap eat, and a very nice place. The bar service and servers were outstanding.

We stopped by on a «school night» for a get-together in the bar area. Based on our experience, we’ll definitely be back for a full meal. The bar staff were phenomenally responsive, professional and friendly. Even though happy hour had just passed, our bartender was able to squeeze in a happy-hour appetizer order. It’s an effort that was appreciated, as we enjoyed the shoestring fries and chicken fingers with our drinks. We also ordered the onion rings, which come stacked in a tower. Creative presentation, and decent(if average) taste. My partner’s Cosmo came with a second serving, in a small wine carafe, which was chilling on ice in a brandy snifter. Nice touch. My only regret is not having taken the time to dine a full meal. Soon, and perhaps very soon, we will be back to rectify that.

What really stood out for me wasn’t even the food, it was the amazing teamwork that the staff had. Everyone was really alert and willing to jump in if anyone in our party needed anything. The food was amazing too, started out with the artichokes, and had the the Prime Rib sandwich with the macaroni and cheese. No complaints at all… and the mac n cheese… out of this world, so creamy! It was a bit on the pricey side for my wallet but defintiely worth it.

This place is great! The food was very good and the price very reasonable. The Maui ribeye was excellent! Never thought I actually order a steak marinated in teriyaki for 4 days. My wife had the prime rib which was also excellent. Kids ordered the mac n cheese off the side dishes and halved a burger. Everything was prepared perfectly. Unfortunately we ate so much we did not order the carrot cake. A definite place to return for dinner.

The food is fresh and delicious. All the ingredients are fresh and I would venture to guess that everything is made daily from scratch. The service is also impeccable. All the servers are friendly and helpful to the customers as well as each other. Service is speedy and prices aren’t bad either. The restaurant has great ambiance as well. The Mac and cheese is delicious, as are the steak tacos and the crème brûlée is one of the best I’ve had. This is a must try restaurant!

The interior of this place screams«Mad Men» to me, but what do I know, I don’t even watch the show. I ordered the Prime Rib Jus on Baguette, even though I thought it was a tad pricy at $ 16. My husband nearly jumped on my plate. This is a big sandwich with thick juicy slices of Prime Rib. OMG it was so good and juicy, it didn’t really need the«Jus». Served very simply, with just a few fries and a pickle. It was all I needed. Did I say«juicy’? I don’t even remember what HE had, my head was way too buried in my samich. Worth every penny.

I love the atmosphere, service and most importantly the quality of the food. I’ve had steaks from many restaurants from all over the world. From Dubai to California, both expensive and not as expensive(from $ 20 — $ 100) steaks. J Alexanders Jack Daniels/Teryaki Ribeye Steak with the loaded mash potatoes is my # 1 favorite out of all the restaurants i’ve been to. I would definitely go back again.

Pleasantly surprised by the restaurant and service at J. Alexander’s. I stupidly thought we could walk into Seasons 52 across the street(the Dorsia of Orlando, apparently) at 8pm for dinner without a reservation. An hour and a half wait. Yeah, no thanks. We hopped over to J. Alexander’s instead, were promptly seated and received the best service I’ve experienced in a long time. Our table was well attended, my water glass always promptly refilled and the manager came over to introduce himself and present our dishes. We weren’t terribly hungry so we ordered the smoked salmon appetizer and an order of onion rings. They were both delicious although I found the smoked salmon to be just a bit stronger than I was anticipating — the flavor of smoke was almost overpowering but still a pretty good dish. I think Oblivion’s onion rings have set the bar pretty high but J. Alexander’s weren’t bad. I ordered a martini from their menu and love the way their drinks are mixed. I haven’t been disappointed with their drinks so far! Not a bad spot for a nice dinner for two!

Cristina N. and I decided to give J. Alexander’s a try since we were in the area and just wanted to have a few drinks. It’s a very comfortable layout as far as the dining area goes. Though, I feel there is quite a bit of wasted space and doesn’t look like they’d be able to accommodate a very large capacity. Still though, it was very spacious and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. Though we were assigned one particular waiter(such as with all restaurants), it seemed like any passing server would tend to our table when necessary(picking up empty plates, refill, etc.). Even the manager came out to serve us an appetizer we ordered, introducing himself and letting us know to ask if we have any questions. I stuck with some draft beer, but we snacked on two appetizers. One were the onion rings. They serve them to you stacked up high on a plate. While fun, they were just okay. They tasted like generic onion rings and really, I could only eat so many before the greasiness overwhelmed me and I had to stop. The other appetizer we tried was the Smoked Salmon and Artichoke dip, I believe. This was really good. I think between the two of us we just about finished this plate. Very tasty and can definitely taste the smokiness of it. Prices were a bit high. For two Blue Moons(draft beer), a cocktail, and two appetizers, we spend about $ 50. But still, I think I’d like to come back to try a main entrée.
