This restaurant was HORRIBLE!!! Couple weeks ago, I went to Orlando with my friends to celebrate the New Year. We were looking for some authentic Chinese food. The reviews on Unilocal showed that this restaurant is the best Shanghai Cuisine in town. Therefore, we decided to try this restaurant. However, we were so disappointed about this restaurant. First of all, it took us nearly a hour waiting to find a table, and the service was horrible. Every time I asked them how long should I wait, they just answered me «couple minutes». After we were seated, it took us more than 15 minutes to find the waiter to order the food. Secondly, the food was terrible. I can’t even figure out what were we eating. They don’t even know what is the real Chinese food. I would rather spend $ 6.99 to eat at a Chinese buffet restaurant than this expensive one. After we finished our meal, the waiter brought us the check. I saw there were 18% service charge on my check. I didn’t want to pay even a penny of service charge at that time. I couldn’t understand why do I have to pay 18% service charge for this horrible dining experience. I hope they should hire someone who rally knows how to operate a restaurant.

The food is delicious. Recommend the sautéed grouper fish slices basted w. Shao Xing sauce. The fish slices are smooth and taste authentic. The place is clean with a good and enjoyable environment. The service is simply great. Our waitress is kind and helpful. My girlfriend wanted to add some hot sauce and our waitress brought her their own pepper sauce which tastes great. If you want a quite dinner with authentic Shanghai food I would definitely recommend it.

Yea service was slow, the food was tasteless like we can homemade by ourselves and totally not worth the price. Most importantly, they charged gratuity right on the bill for 18%!! My friend was like that’s not even legit we can sue them for putting gratuity on the bill and we were there lunch time around 2pm I thought 15% would be enough. Anyway we are from New York and only staying here for two weeks so I have to leave an one star comment here just keep everybody away from here.

Was visiting Orlando and saw the decent reviews for this place as authentic. The food is pretty authentic and yummy if you have about 1.5 hours to wait on it. We came on a Friday night and the place was almost half filled. We waited for about 15 minutes to place our order… and then 1.5 hours for the food to arrive. While we were waiting, we noticed another table leave after sitting around for 30 minutes without being served and a guy at another table fall asleep while waiting for his food. After the 2 dishes we ordered finally came out, they had forgotten our dumpling appetizer. At this point, we didn’t want it anymore but the waitress didn’t even noticed and charged us for it anyway… waiting for our check also took another 20 minutes :(I think the place is too big for them to handle.

Today we arrived as a party of six at about 12:30pm. We happened to arrived after two other parties of six arrived for lunch. We were greeted by the door with«Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate so many guests at one time, it will be 30 minutes for seating.» What was odd was at most, the tables were 40% occupied. We discussed whether it would be worth eating for about another 5 minutes, while one of the group of six left. That left 2 groups of six, counting ours. The man in charge came back from the kitchen again and told me, «Seriously, we are unable to accommodate so many quests at one time.» When we asked if and when we could be seated for a table, the answer was again, «30 minutes». We motioned to the empty tables, he replied, «No, please don’t». It became clear that this restaurant no longer wanted to serve any more guests today and this was also the first time in my life, in any city, state, country or continent I have been ever refused service at a restaurant. 1 star for the previous awesome food, –5 for the worst customer service I have experienced in a food service establishment. I wont be returning here for a 3rd time.

Good authentic dishes, but best to come here when it’s not busy. Seems like their process is a bit old fashioned. However, our server Andy was super accommodating and entertaining. Would definitely come back and sit at Andy’s table. We ordered a shrimp appetizer which had a finger licking sauce. A spinach in chicken broth dish which was ok. Entrees: mandarin fish which was enjoyed by all. Pan fried noodles are tasty but the dish was smaller than expected. Forgot what else.

The worst Service ever. It was just SO bad and SO slow. We wanted hot water and the waiter told us the hot water is only come with tea. It made no sense. And there are no waiters walking around. The order is super slow, we waited about half hour or maybe more. Finally I finished this unhappy dinner, me and my 4 friends wanted to check out but the waiter said 18% gratuity would be charged if we do the separate check. They gave us no service and still force charged the 18% gratuity. Everything is just terrible except the food. The food is ok but I definitely won’t go there ever.

First, I want to say the service is fucking shit, nobody take care of you when you set there, even no water for you until you ask for them. Second, the food is not very well. Third one is so fucking important, I ordered a mandarin fish, look at picture, it is so good. But in fact, that was not a mandarin fish. And also that fish is most expensive dish. We cost much money, it does not matter, but we want the real mandarin fish. They made a fake mandarin fish. I remain everybody do not order mandarin fish. 我操,服务差,尤其想说的是那个桂鱼,就tm不是桂鱼好吗…大家再不要点那个桂鱼了,骗人的

The food is good, but the service is so freaking horrible. No one cares about us even we raise our hands to remind them many times. We had to wait about half-hour to get our beverages. After we ordered for an hour, we finally got our dishes one by one served every 20 minutes. They bring us our bill amazingly fast though. However!!! The tips were automatically charged in the bill, for 18%. Like what the heck. The service really sucks! WORST experience ever. The food is ok but the service RUINEDEVERYTHING!!! Will NEVER come back again. This place SUCKS! Today is my gf’s birthday and this place totally ruined our day. I wish I can give them negative star! 臭傻逼 服务差成这样还舔个逼脸要18%小费 呵呵

I ordered the Squirrel mandarin fish, but they didn’t give me mandarin fish, I’m sure about it is not mandarin fish, but they kept saying that is the mandarin fish. I’m so mad about it! And the service is SOBAD! 点了松鼠桂鱼,上的菜根本不是桂鱼,建议不要点。而且巨贵,不好吃。

Foods are amazingly good, but the service there was really really bad. I would give 5 stars to the quality of food but 0 star to the service. Foods are decently good! They even offer Radish Pan Cake(油墩子), which is a very traditional Shanghai food that I couldn’t find in Shanghai these days. All the food we ordered are really taste like Chinese food. However, the slowest and the worst service destroyed all our positive feelings to this restraint brought by the food. After we were seated, no one came to ask for order and water. We raised hand and reminded them many times, but, sadly, no one cares about us. After 30 mins waiting, a guy finally came to me. He served us water, but we never got refilled. One hours later after we made the order, we finally got our food one by one with almost 20mins for each dish to be served. We came on 7:30 pm, and left around 10:00 pm. Luckily, they gave us our bill really fast, So that we can go to some where else to find more food. Maybe I should have one more star for this. Overall, please take well care of your customers, at least show your concern to those who come to your restaurant. You should know that it might be someone’s first time try Shanghai/Chinese food, but the bad service will leave them a really terrible impression on Chinese food and Chinese restaurant.

The overall taste was ok. The portion sizes are relatively small. The service is super slow even though there are only 3 – 4 tables. We came on a Sunday and there were a lot of things on the menu that were not available. They even charge for the tea and rice, which is generally free at most Chinese restaurants. I would not recommend coming here even though you really want Chinese food.

Service sucks!!! And I’m being polite. Our pork braised was full of fat. It was disgusting. Kang pao chicken was full of carrots with hard tofu.

One star for the environment. Bad service, slow, slow and slow. Beef is not fresh. We left half of the beef. Overpriced for the bad quality food.

We spent our day at Universal Studio, and drove to this place, a totally wrong choice! We set down for ten minutes, and there was no server come to take order or bring water. After 20 minutes, a young server was able to take our order but two of our dishes were out for the day, so we have to go for something else. After three requests and 30 minutes of waiting, we finally saw our water coming. Later the waitress brought several dishes to our table, but non of them was ordered by us(could be the food for the table next to us, they seemed have been waiting for a while). Then the waitress said she didn’t see our order and we had to re-order. Seriously?! We spent 40 minutes and all we got was water and re-order? How can this place exist? We soon left this place with hunger and anger. Will never recommend this place to anyone! Really bad service, ridiculously long waiting, and the servers seemed didn’t know what they are doing.

This is probably as good as Orlando food can get. Every time I go to Orlando, I dread the food that they offer. Nothing is ever tasty or remarkably tasty there and the first thing that I would do when I’m back in NY is to go to a Chinese restaurant for satueed greens. Thank goodness this time there was IShanghai across the street from my hotel. The service here was really attentive and generous. My friend and I were even offered complimentary tester food from the kitchen. They offer more traditional Chinese-Shanghainese food and Americanized Chinese food as well. I just love the good array of healthy vegetable options with other meat dishes as well. My friend and I ordered the chicken broth with spinach and Kung Pao Chicken. To my surprise, the Kung Pao Chicken was not battered or fried at all and yet maintained it’s full flavor! I wish they used cashews instead of peanuts though. I would definitely come back here again the next time I’m in Orlando.

Service was horrible, the waitress kept us waiting forever. And the food isn’t any better, I’d rather just go to Panda express or something. If you want to spent the 2 hours for some American chinese food, then you can go ahead. Otherwise, I would avoid this place. And of course they charge you 18% for service, are you kidding me? I wouldn’t even give a cent for that service. 服务差的一比,简直就是坑爹。

iShanghai is one of the top Chinese restaurants in Orlando. Our dinner for four there last night was well prepared, using the most delicious ingredients available. We definitely will recommend it to our families and friends. Yes, as good as it gets!
