This is a typical Mexican Restaurant. You are served chips and salsa when you are seated. They have a huge menu and offer beer and soft drinks. I have to say, I really like their Coke. It is super fizzy, just the way I like it. Now for the food. Delicious. The plates are huge portions. I always have enough leftovers to take home. The tacos are crunchy and the beef is seasoned perfect. The rice is light and fluffy. The refrained beans are homemade and have just the right amount of texture. The salsa is usually the perfect hotness for us gringo’s but once in awhile we seem to get a hot bath. This is our favorite Mexican Restaurant in the Orem/Provo area. Service is always good.

First. I am probably one of the pickiest people ever when it comes to Mexican food. I grew up eating my great grandmas food therefore. I have high expectations. Also I have yet to find a place I like since we have been here(3+years now) UNTILNOW!!! First let me say that our waiter(Jorge) was awesome, super friendly, not pushy and gave his honest opinion when I couldn’t decide what to order. He gave me a few options and told me which ones he REALLY liked and which ones were so so. I love waiters that do this because they are being honest and showing they aren’t just trying to push the most expensive plates on you. Now onto the food! This place is DELICIOUS! The chips and salsa are spot on, salsa is perfect, not too spicy, not too chunky, just right in my opinion. I got the Enchiladas Rancheras and it was seriously amazing! 2 pork enchiladas with rice and beans. I never eat the rice and beans anywhere we go because usually they are just disgusting, this place has delicious rice and beans and the flavors all go together perfectly! My husband got the steal fajitas and this was by far the best ever, 1. You get a HUGE portion 2. The flavors are perfect and simple and they literally just go together so well! 3. The price is WORTHIT!!! Last. We got the fried ice cream. One of our favorite things ever. My only complaint on this was the semi sweet chocolate chips, they were just a little out of place, otherwise, it was perfect too! We will definitely be returning!

I don’t recommend you come here looking for good Mexican food. There isn’t any; even by Utah standards. On the bright side, their chips and salsa are not bad and their sodas taste like soda!

Decent restaurant, very nice people. Stick to the basics if you are ordering here. If you are a fan of chili Verde absolutely do not order it here. Typically chili Verde is pork slowly cooked /stewed in green sauce — and comes out nice and soft full of flavor. Here when I ordered chili Verde they take huge chunks of pork, throw them in the deep fryer, then throw green sauce on the top of it and call it a day. What you get are huge, dry, flavorless chunks of pork with green sauce on top. Had to send it back for a Carne asada burrito that was decent. Don’t think I’ll be coming back. Of course the people of utah County love this place because all of the places out here are dumbed down and white washed. Some of these reviews make me cringe. The awesome assortment of hot sauces recent reviews mentioned are literally cholula and tapatio… These aren’t top secret Mexican hot sauces LOL Nothing authentic about this place.

Mi Ranchito is delicious. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Utah County. When you first enter the restaurant is decorated in fun bright colors. It’s all decorated with Mexican decorations. They usually seat you pretty quickly. It seems decently clean, but could be improved. The staff are quick and helpful. The chips and salsa are fantastic. The salsa actually has some heat which is unusual around here! Something I really like is the assortment of hot sauces they leave on the table to try. They are different Mexican hot sauces and some are so spicy. For drinks try the horchata. It’s the best one around! I usually order the beef burrito or the fajitas. Both are delicious. The burrito tastes fresh. It’s smothered in red sauce and cheese. The rice and beans are also quite fresh. Lots of beans from Mexican restaurants around here taste canned, but these are undoubtably fresh. The guacamole is also delicious. If you’re looking for some good Mexican, give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

They’re shrimp quesadillas are freakin’ amazing. Good chips and salsa and always busy, but never takes long to be seated(with 4 or less in party). Our go-to mexican joint in the area(and we even live down in Spanish Fork)

This place was alright. Not horrible, but maybe I will go when I feel better. I mean, I kept hearing good things about the place, I wanted to try it out. It was good, waitress was quick, I was just sick.

The only Mexican food I eat in Orem. They are not only cheap, but they’re super fast and everything tastes great. If you get the beef fajitas you’ll be satisfied for multiple meals after since they give you SOMUCHFOOD! Give this place a shot.

Love this place. Portions are huge, quality/taste is great. Nothing is bland… very flavorful and service is ok too. Atmosphere is like any other Mexican restaurant… nothing fancy or special, but good enough.

I on the other hand i disagree with the negative comments left here. We had a problem with this place 3 years ago but we’ve since returned. I absolutely love their food. The chicken soft-tacos with their rice and beans are a killer meal for me. They give so much food you can hardly finish it. The prices are really good. I think the use 18 oz glasses so have to have less refills. The cheese nachos for $ 8 is a meal. Red Iguana in SLC is also great as well as dos Omigos in Winnemuca NV. But for a Utah place I give it A+ rating. Plus you can tell when a place is bad. Just look at the place: it is always crowded

Let me preface this by saying that I consider myself somewhat of a Mexican food connoisseur. My favorite foods on this planet are bean and cheese burritos and beef tacos. I know, I’m a simple person. This restaurant is my go to sit down place for Mexican food. The chips and salsa are delicious and a great first impression for the me. I also love the quality and quantity of the entrees. My husband always gets the fajitas and is never disappointed. I try to change things up once in awhile(which is scary for me), but I always go back to the supreme burrito which has everything imaginable stuffed in a tortilla. I never walk out of there without a to-go box weighing at least as much of a small child. The reason I knocked off a star is due to the service. It’s just OK — the food and refills come out in a timely fashion, but at times I feel like my mere presence is an inconvenience to my waiter. If you’ve got a hankering for huge portions of delicious Mexican food, do yourself a favor and dine at Mi Ranchito!

My son-in-law and I were in Orem at lunchtime and noticed this place. I wanted to stop, because it looked like a typical Mexican dive, which I like. My wife does NOT like them so I don’t get to indulge too often. Seizing our chance, in we went. It was pretty much a typical Mexican dive in appearance. Lots of kitsch, families with screaming kids eating cheap, etc. I was pleased that they not only had diet Dr Pepper, but they could add shots to it!(I chose coconut). So kudoes for a cool non alcoholic selection. We perused the menu and a 2-person meal named«Molcajete» caught the eye. I challenged the waitress — saying«Let’s lay it on the line. I’m from Texas. Impress me.» She immediately pointed to the molcajete, confirming our suspicion. The meal did not start off well. Their salsa was terrible — tasted like it had a Campbell’s tomato soup as a base. Ecch. Luckily, the main meal arrived soon. It was stupendous. Terrific shrimp, plus skirt steak, nopales, and(sadly) a bunch of chicken(the inexpensive substrate of many a mixed-meat meal). ‘Twas all cooked up in a delicious sauce that was great to sop up with tortillas. To one side was a platter of the usual Tex-Mex sides — rice, refritos, crisp lettuce, sour cream, guac, & topping it off, one lonely black olive. Though touted as a two-man meal and even though we were both hungry, we took plenty home as leftovers. We agreed that we could have also fed our wives with our order. Other high points — for the first time, they brought enough tortillas that I didn’t run out. I only had one left, but still. Also when they refilled my drink, they remembered to squirt in the shot of coconut. They lose a point for their nasty salsa, the screaming kids at the table next to us, and the fact that they are not in Texas, so I can visit only once a year. Recommended. But skip the salsa.

Growing up in Orem, Los Hermanos always was top dog when it came to Mexican, but Los Hermanos has lost its touch. And Mi Ranchito has picked up the slack. It’s our favorite! We travel all the way from Cottonwood Heights to get our fill. It’s fantastic! Their smothered burrito tastes a million times better than Los Hermanos. We will continue to battle the traffic and crowds for those burritos!

I have been going to the Mi Ranchito in American Fork my entire life so this family owned restaurant definitely holds a special place in my heart. The #22 bean and cheese burrito is pretty much the only thing I’ve ever had and it’s one of my favorite meals. I usually end up eating there about once a week, but I have been known to occasionally eat there twice in one day. The service is always good and it has a good atmosphere. Definitely a favorite of mine and my crew.

Food was great the salsa pretty spicy and the steak and potato burrito was yummy. The reason i gave it 3 stars was because of the waitress, we sat at our table after being seated for almost 20 minutes, we couldn’t eat any more chips and salsa because of no water or drinks. Finally after about another 5 minutes we got our drinks and orders in the food came out quick. After we were done we needed boxes to go and again no where insight for another 20 minutes. Good food lousy service

5 stars for chips and salsa! The chips are warm and crisp. The first batch of salsa was a little bit more spicier which I liked but the second round not so much. 4 stars for service: they were. Quick and efficient. Kept on refills of drinks, chips, & salsa. 3 stars on food. The tacos are outstanding which deserve 4 stars but everything else was blah. The enchiladas and the chili relano was just ok. Not a lot of flavor and very soggy. Overall I give this place a 3 star rating. I would never choose to eat here but if someone wanted to go then I would go. It’s very hard to find good authentic Mexican food around Utah county.

Service was fine(no coffee refill though) and the ambience okay but neither my son or I cared to finish our orders of a bean and cheese burrito(his) & chorizo burrito(mine: eggs and chorizo mixed). Still hungry, I ordered a third plate(beef taco + chicken enchilada) but still didn’t clean my plate. 2 to go boxes later we were on our way out the door. Luckily my nearby niece and nephew will eat almost anything because I hate wasting food.

Great, fast service. Hot, cheesy enchiladas. Refried beans with whole beans. Healthy, non-greasy rice that is full of flavor. Zingy salsa.

I’ve been eating at this restaurant, in this location, for over 30 years. It’s not the best Mexican food in Utah. In fact, it’s no longer even the best Mexican food in Orem! But it IS good quality, consistent, plentiful, reasonably authentic Mexi cuisine. They offer shredded beef, not just ground. Their salsa has some kick to it and also delivers bold flavor. The chile verde is delicious and spicy and has plenty of the pork chunks you’re looking for. The food isn’t anything to wake from a coma for, but it’s always tasty and fresh. They do glob on the cheese, but not sickeningly so. They have a full bar, which is a big deal in this part of the world. The servers are always friendly and helpful. They’re also OPEN on SUNDAYS, so if you’re in the mood for Mexi food… go here and you won’t be disappointed.
