I hired Charles to do several tasks and all but one was a disaster. He removed a tree competently, but failed on all the following tasks. 1) Failed to remove debris he said he would 2) Failed to grind all roots per agreement 3) Broke my sprinkler pipes in 4 different spots 4) Chipped my concrete patio with his grinding tool 5) Broke a gate post, requiring repair 6) Failed to follow instructions in trimming some bushed leaving them sightly Bottom line is if you ONLY want a tree removed, then you might get that job done correctly, but if you plan to have anything else done, where verbal instructions or attention to detail is needed, run as far away from Charles as you can. You will be saving yourself time, money and frustration.

Arborist for Hire did a remarkable job for me! Charles came right out to do the job estimate. He did a wonderful job trimming the trees we needed trimmed. He completed the job right when he promised. He offered helpful advice to keep the trees healthy. He did all this at a very reasonable price. I’m delighted and proud of his work. I will gladly call Charles when I have more work for an arborist in the Orangevale area.

I instructed Charles Spaulding of A Aborist For Hire to 1) Trim the oak tree away from my neighbor’s Crape Myrtle Tree, 2) Trim the oak tree so it would no longer hang over our neighbor’s house, 3) Trim the oak tree so that it would no longer hang over our house, 4) then shape the oak tree so that it looks even and symetrical, 5) trim the Pear Tree so that it is no longer hanging over our house. Charles said that he also wanted to thin both trees, which I agreed to. He gave me an estimate of $ 360 and wrote something illegibly on a «Service Description» form, which he handed to me. I agreed to the price for all of the work that was discussed. He said that he would come by in the late afternoon/evening to do the work within the two days. The day after the next, he came by in the morning while I was at work and trimmed the oak tree away from my neighbor’s Crape Myrtle Tree, thinned the oak, and removed several small branches from the Pear Tree. I called him and asked when he was coming back to finish the job. He told me that he did everything that we agreed to. I told him that the primary reason I hired him was because my neighbors are complaining about the oak tree crowding their Myrtle Tree and dropping leaves into their rain gutters. He told me that he listens to the homeowners opinion and then does the work that needs to be done, ignoring the homeowner if they don’t know what they are talking about like he claimed I didn’t. I told him that I hired him to perform certain tasks, which he failed to do. He only completed one of the tasks that I hired him to do, which was trimming the oak away from the neighbor’s tree. I told him if he did not complete the job, I would have to hire another contractor to do it. He said that he would not do the work that I was requesting, and that he needs to get paid. I told him that I would only pay him for the partial work that he did. He said that he completed the job. I said then why are the trees hanging over the houses still, and why has the oak tree not been trimmed and shaped? Basically, he only cut the branches that were easy to get to. He did the part of the job that was easy, and did not do the parts that were higher up and more difficult. He said if you don’t pay me the full amount, I will take you to court. I said fine. Later that evening, I wrote a check for the full amount and put it in the mail, just to get rid of this guy. He is obviously a con man and a crook.
