Excellent food! Very polite and helpful staff. Lovely dining room. Fun family place but not distracting for a couple. It was a very nice evening out for us.

Hits the nail on the head every dish! My boyfriend and I have been to Star of India too many times to count at this point, and each time we’ve been there, our experience has been excellent! Between the two of us, there isn’t a meat free, dairy free dish from Star of India that we haven’t tasted and every one has been amazing! That having been said, if you don’t eat dairy, let the wait staff know when you arrive so they can prepare butter-free rice for you. In addition, their weekend buffet is very reasonably priced and provides many options. Highly recommend!

Best food in the area. I come here once a week and the food is always fresh and delicious. The food here is awesome. Some spicy some not so spicy, it’s great for anybody and the price is right.

Chicken vindaloo, veggie korma, and naan… excellent…spiced to order. Been about six times and have never been disappointed. Veggie food is prepared separately.

If u want to taste a normal tomato rice order their chicken biryani. I heard their palak paneer was good but it was a disaster too.

For whoever is managing the place, thanks for keeping the food fresh. I mean really fresh. The freshness of the food shows in the taste of meat especially, chicken. Good job shopping! All the chicken dishes tasted good. Uthappam was a bit undercooked inside and some dishes like grilled chicken and vegetable fritters were too salty for our taste. But waiters were attentive, naan was fresh, good spread. Good value for money.

They freshly ground spices and each premium meal is made fresh. Interior and service is always very clean and professional. They show they really care. Star can deliver heat on scale from 1 – 10 if you want it spicy Star can deliver on schedule. Garlic Nan, Rogan Josh lamb, Pakora, Saag all excellent. Prefer over all other Indian restaurants in area.

Butter chicken and paneer was delicious. The nan, and vegetable samosas very tasty We went there to get the buffet but it was around 2 and it was pretty limited, they said they wouldn’t refill until it was all gone so we ordered off the menu instead. Service was good, but it was very hot in there the Ac was not working well. Other wise for the price things everything was tasty and fresh.

They are rude and are not aware of how to manage misunderstanding. I went there with a guest during buffet hours, the guest didn’t want to eat as he wasn’t sure about Indian food, anyway I wanted to sit in and eat. I offered him to try the nahn so he did. During the entire time he never went to the buffet and he never got a plate. All I did was have him try my bread. When I went to pay, my bill was 23.00. I asked the clerk if I had to pay for him, he said yes because he touch the bread from my plate(lmao), I didn’t want to make it a big deal so I asked since I’m paying for him and he didn’t eat can he just grab something to go. The clerk said no, he was very rude also. Now if I wanted to be petty I would have sat back down went to the buffet and took 5 plates filled with food and leave it on the table. There are way better ways a business could handle a situation like this, and it was not how they handled the situation.

Star of India is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. It is wonderful Indian cuisine — aromatic, spicy to the degree one requests. A wide variety of all the favorites. We enjoyed Shrimp Tikka Masala and Nine Vegetable Curry tonight. Cooked to perfection. Great selection of appetizers and desserts. Katchcumber salad is one of our favorite starters — crisp cucumbers with tomatoes, onion and chick peas, flavored with fresh cilantro — mmmmmm Friendly service. It’s simply the best deal for miles

The lunch buffet is a good value at $ 9.52 after tax. Real indian people eat here. I don’t think this is the best Indian food in CT, but it’s worth a try

The greatest Indian restaurant around! Please visit here, they deserve so much more attention than they get. All their food is well made. Their chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and lamb samosas are to die for.

We have had Star of India on many occasions as a couple and with small groups of friends. Everytime the food has been delicious, hot and fresh. I usually leave happier and more satisfied here than Coromandel which is a block over. They are far more expensive and honestly, I like Star of India’s food better. I am a chicken korma junkie and it’s perfect here. The portions are a great size, and you can definitely share two dishes and have leftovers. This is our go to place when we’re in the area.

I loved the food here. Complex flavors that were really nicely put together and as spicy as you’d like. I thought the portions were on the small side though. We had a meat somosa app, naan, curry goat, and chicken tikka masala. They were delish. That being said, I can’t rate this place any higher because our waiter was just… rude. Unfriendly and looked like he didn’t want to wait on us. So weird. Maybe he got the vibe that we were unhappy because a 2nd guy brought out our food who was much more happy and professional. I wish he’d waited on us from the start. Also I ordered a glass of Malbec… when I sipped it, it was spoiled. Yuck. Portions smaller, prices okay, food is great. I’d stick with takeout for this place. The dining experience is not worth it.

Probably the BEST Indian food in southern CT. You can take my word for it, I have been eating home cooked Indian food for the past 25 years. Star has greta portions and flavors, and can customize ANY dish how you want, i.e. less/more creamy or less/more spicy. They best things to get are the Naan breads, kheema curry(lamb), chicken tikka masala, and the tandoori chicken(takes 20 minute two cook but so worth)

Fantastic little hole-in-the-wall in an unassuming strip mall. Have only been here once for takeout, but am already a huge fan. The prices are very competitive, and the food is fantastic. And I’m very picky about Indian food. Can’t wait to try more of the menu.

Wonderful and attentive staff. Avery clean and organized storefront restaurant in a small strip mall. I love the huge lighted STAROFINDIA sign. Well, first of all and most important, the server chose to believe me when I told him I wanted the food«Hot like in South India». Not only was it hot, it was in all ways perfectly spiced. There were several other tables that were seated after I was, and everyone, including two Indian guys, asked for the food to be «Mild». So I think this place knows how to give their customers just what they want. Actually the notation on the check for the kitchen was«VH» — as in, very hot. The Paneer Tikka Masala & the Bhindi Masala were very good. The Bhel Puri was great and super hot. The Mango Kulfi tasted just like eating a mango. Worth a side trip.
