I read the first review and almost didn’t let them service my son’s car, That would have been a big mistake. They were professional and fair through the entire process. My son blew a tire out close to their location, and they changed it out to the spare without a charge. As I worked with them to find the replacement tire at a competitive price, they could not have been more gracious. They did the work as scheduled and with no surprises. I m certainly glad I gave them a chance.

Decided to use Gateway because I am a Christian and they are suppose to be a Christian business. They quoted me a price a little higher then some of their in town competition but could replace a bad water pump on my truck that same afternoon. Being my only mode of transportation I decided to go ahead and use them. Friendly staff my only complaint was that the price I was told went up and up. They did check with me to authorize the extra work they said I needed. The work that was to be around $ 270 ended up over $ 400. Then about 1 week later while in route to a doctor appointment my truck dies on the interstate. looking under the hood I observe antifreeze EVERWHERE, on everything and a giant pool of antifreeze under the vehicle. I call my insurance and they send a tow truck, I have it towed back to them. It takes them 7 days to check my vehicle out. Every time I called checking on the status I was told the same thing(I was just about to call you) they always said. I got tired of hearing that. Thinking that they would make things right, I never got angry or rushed them, again this is my only vehicle. They called on the 7th day to inform me the antifreeze shorted out all wires with numerious other things messed up. When I picked up my truck the next day the bill was over $ 300. This is over $ 700 paid out in less than 2 weeks. Did I mention that I am disabled and only draw a small check once a month. It is in my opinion and in the opinion of several mechanics I approached(not affiliated with Gateway) that the incident on the interstate was a result of them rushing to complete the water pump job, where they also replaced a hose. Therefore there should not have been a charge for the second visit due to their incompetent, mistake or whatever you want to call it. I myself will be looking for another automotive shop that hopefully will be honest and fair. I will not use Gateway tire and automotive in Opelika Alabama again. so my advice to you is 《USEATYOUROWNRISK》
