MJ Gabel

After reading a very informative article by Anne on a popular site (don’t want to mention here as I think Unilocal would get upset) I decided to give them a call to see about consigning the wedding ring/​band I got back in my divorce. Low and behold, I was connected with Anne herself. I cannot express how nice, transparent and up front she was. There was no sense of her being a «used car salesman» or «schmarmy» in anyway. She explained the process to me very matter-​of-​fact-​like and guided me along in the process to send the rings in to be evaluated and processed. I will follow up this review after my process has been completed.
I felt it was necessary to add an honest review of my encounter with one of the owners of this store. I saw a previous review that seemed a bit harsh. I can’t say I’ve talked to Anne’s husband. I can say that any reviewer who comes on and insults another person three times in one sentence (the first sentence no less) comes off rather jaded and petty. No one should expect to get top dollar for a used piece of jewelry. I don’t think it’s fair to belittle a man who was giving you his opinion about his business. Just my two cents on that review…

I had a great experience working with Anne at MJ Gabel. She provided excellent service and was able to get me a price for my band/​ring set that was more than I could get locally. I would definitely do business with them again!

If you feel like listening to a windbag who loves the sound of his own voice and wasting your time, Matthew Gabel is the perfect person for you to do business with. Knowledgable but very unprofessional, he tried to lecture me and argue with me about my knowledge about diamonds whenever I asked him any questions. This was across four different phone calls.
In addition, he gave me really bad advice under the false pretense that he was helping me out, when in fact he was trying to lower the price for himself in a transaction (or he’s just stupid — either way super unhelpful). I would never do business with him — his knowledge and skill is far outweighed by his cocky attitude and customer-​is-​always-​wrong point of view.

I had 2 diamonds that I wanted to sell, but didn’t know the best way to proceed. I went to some local retailers, who gave me some disappointing offers. I heard about MJ Gabel and started to communicate with Anne, who was very professional, personable and sincere. Shipping diamonds across the U.S. to someone I didn’t know, made me nervous, but Anne kept in touch with me every step of the way, explaining my options and her recommendations. We decided that going to Auction had the best potential, and as a result, the amount that I received for my diamonds exceeded everybody’s expections. I received payment for my diamonds about a week after the auction closed. The entire process was painless and simple; I put my trust in Anne and Matt Gabel and I am happy that I did.
