The Afternoon

The Afternoon has some of the most fun and quirky inventory. The items it sells are right up my alley. I go to Midtown about three times a week and I would go into The Afternoon more often if they had better customer service. To be completely honest, their customer service is just terrible. It drives me away from the store. Each time I go in I am not greeted or asked if I need help. Instead, I am given a quick look up and down and walked away from. This is just disrespectful and I don’t appreciate it. My friends and I don’t come in and make a ruckus. We are polite and shop around, commenting on how amazing the products are. In fact, I bought some items and was treated like an annoyance. They practically shooed me out of there and disapproved of me buying things there. In fact, the two workers were just sitting down on their phones while a half eaten, browning apple sat on the countertop. Each friend with whom I have shopped at the Afternoon works in customer service and we treat our customers like the amazing people they are. We are seventeen. The last time I shopped at this store and left I was contemplating going back and saying something about how I love the store but the customer service makes me feel unwelcome but I was just too intimidated by the worker. That speaks volumes about management and I am beyond disappointed. Skip this store next time you’re in Midtown and just go to Thirstea or Me & Me instead. They’re lovely there.

What a great store to browse or buy. This is the kind of store you would love to kill an hour at, just wandering around and checking out all they have out on display. There is home décor scattered throughout, kitchen tools and hardwares, stationary, high end candles and jewelry, books and many small décor treasures if you just take the time to look. It’s a perfect place to treat yourself or find a friend a gift. They have been a lasting presence in midtown crossing since the strip opened in 2010, while other shops have overturned hands. This is perhaps a testament to their success.
What I also love about the afternoon is how friendly the owner is and that they allow dogs inside. With so many small items, it’s great they trust their patrons to bring in a pup that can calmly browse along. Thank you for being dog friendly!

Cute shop in midtown with some great gifts for that hard to shop for person in your life. Anything from coffee table books, unique kitchen utensils, jewelry, lotions, décor and more. I have always encountered friendly staff. This is the place to go if you are looking for the kits to make necklace pendants from your child’s fingerprint. I have gotten2 kits here and both were a success.

Pro tip: if it’s raining, call in advance to ensure they are in fact open. Drove a half hour from Bellevue this evening to find them closed at 7:40, with their posted hours showing they’re open until 9.
Normally a shop I enjoy and I’ll be back, but this is Nebraska — it flurries — I can find open places to do my holiday shopping rather than waste a drive to a place that closes at the slightest hint of bad weather.
Better luck next time I suppose.

Cute little place to get something for someone… Loved that I was there on one of their Saturday specials… A little coffee, some treats and best of all some SALES!

A nice retail store at Midtown Crossing, which I always visit when strolling after a meal at one of the many Midtown eateries. I enter just intending to browse, and always leave with a quality kitchen item I didn’t know I had to have.

My wife drags me into The Afternoon whenever we are in Midtown. Our most recent visit was this past week.
They have some of the weirdest and coolest stuff at pretty high prices, but its a specialty boutique so that is expected.
They have funny books, cool kitchen gadgets, and a ton of odds and ends items.
My wife and I always stop in when we are in the area and it never disappoints.

Am I weird for saying that I preferred the old Westroads location? Maybe it was just the familiarity of it, plus actually having a cool store in an otherwise ho-​hum mall that’s trying to pretend it’s not aging and slowly fading into obscurity like all the other malls in America.
Digression aside, I still like The Afternoon and their unique array of goods for just about any occasion. From upscale kitchen supplies to jewelry to quirky last minute gifts, The Afternoon can be your one-​stop shop for all the above. It’s also nice to have a solid retail option at Midtown Crossing, a development that is quite restaurant heavy at the moment.

First time in their new location and aside from being pricey, the service needs to be more attentive. after waiting 7 minutes to be taken care of because someone they knew was coming, they were tidying up, they can do that after, they take care of me, customers first! A new first time customer comes in and looks around and says to the girl taking care of me, is this a book store, then the girl says in a snooty answer, no, it’s a gift store, I felt that was wrong to answer with that type of attitude. I like friendly, helpful, what can I help you find, I got no of this from the two girls, who need more experience with customer service. I’m not feeling it!

The Afternoon had something for everyone! This is one of favorite places to shop for others. It’s filled with unique books, quirky gadgets, and everything in between. I shop here often for others as they have something for almost every interest. Something for the reader, the gardener, the cook, the child, and then some. Shop at The Afternoon for unique and interesting pieces.
Can’t find anything at this location? The one at Westroads is a lot bigger!

I really like this store. My husband and I were browsing the day of the recent snowstorm, and the owner, Michelle, could not have been nicer. They have a great variety of things (books; frames; jewelry; greeting cards; small kitchenware, etc.) which made browsing fun. The layout of the store is absent typical straight aisles seen in most stores. instead there are curves and alcoves that lead to great finds and gifts.
Bought the cute male/​female sculpture salt and pepper shakers and just love them. This is the type of store to go to when you need a special gift that’s not typical or traditional. Great fun exploring the store!
