Mutual of Omaha Bank

I used to love this bank — people are helpful and polite. I moved to a state that no longer has a MOO bank so I moved my checking account to another bank. I still have 3 other accounts with MOO. I closed my MOO checking account and as a result I lost ALL ONLINE access to the history of that account. I had gone paperless since everything I need is online. Now that it is tax season I have NO ONLINE ACCESS and no paper copies! How can a financial institution be run these days with such an out-​dated process?

Went to my local branch to change a CD – can’t do it. We don’t have a banker. How can you be a bank without a banker. Took my money elsewhere.

I have to write an update to my review. A little on my background, I work as a network engineer for a MSP and I have done IT work for some banks. The fact the main mutual of omaha website doesn’t force SSL/​https on the home page is troublesome. It’s not fool proof by any means but opens up for a man in the middle attack on a compromised network. Plus, no mobile app and accessing via a mobile Web browser is terrible. It’s bothering to me as this is only what I can see. It makes me wonder what is going on in the backend?

I had 3 accounts with MOB (2 checking and 1 MM) They recently sold several branches to Centennial Bank and transferred all accounts in those branches from MOB to Centennial. I felt that I should have been asked if I wanted to be a customer of Centennial Bank. So… I go into by local branch that is now Centennial and want to transfer $$ from my MM a/​c to my checking a/​c. Sorry, MOB didn’t transfer the MM a/​c. In order to transfer $$ from my MM a/​c I have to set up Bill Pay. OK, only problem is I can’t do it online so I call customer service. After 30+ minutes on the phone they can’t figure it out but will call be back. Not a peep! After a week I call back and again after about 30 minutes on the phone they can’t figure it out and PROMISE to call me back. I tell them forget just close the a/​c. Oh no you can’t do that by phone your have to go online and send them a message. So, I get on line and send them a message saying I want to close the account. I gave no instructions on how they should send me my $$. I was waiting for a response before giving them the wiring instructions. So. I get an email telling me that there is a message waiting for me online and I should go online to get the message. So. I log on to get the message and I’m told my a/​c has been disabled! I call customer service and they tell me the a/​c is closed and I can’t access the message online and neither can they. Naturally I’d like to know what they did with the $$ !!! Guess what, they mailed it snail mail to my «address of record». So. it will be a week at least before I get the ck. and then a week that before I can access it after I deposit in my new bank.
If I could rate them –20 stars I would. THEY SUCK.

This bank offers the WORST customer service you will ever experience. Hopefully you will never need to call their help desk if you have a problem. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to pick up my «on hold», I asked them to email a new password and he said that they didn’t have an email address associated with the account. I asked how I received an email telling me that my account had locked due to failed login attempts. He then claimed that he could not see the information. He refused to give me a new password because he said that my husband was listed first on the account! Welcome to 1970!

I sent a question to Customer Service, and they replied by suggesting that I call a phone number. When I tried to call the phone number I found that it had been disconnected.
Very amateurish.

This is a bank that I have been with since they were a small town friendly, helpful, personal, independent Peak National bank Nederland. Then they were purchased by Mutual of Omaha Bank. Over the years they have changed from a community friendly business to an obviously corporate run place where a personal service is no longer even close to what matters. If you are looking for somewhere you are treated like a human instead of a potential criminal for walking in the door shop your banking elsewhere!

The Very Vicious, Unethical, and Corrupt Bank!
This bank has only 2 branches in SoCal (Rancho Cucamonga and San Diego). When the staff and manager of Mutual of Omaha Bank (MOOB) hate you, they hate your entire family and friends too. Since I opened an account 1 year ago, the debit card was constantly defective effecting all of my banking transactions. Instead of resolving the bank’s technical problems, the staff and manager demonstrate corrupt customer service against me and closed my account without a reason. I had no overdrawn, bounced checks, or any fault at my end. However, Flynn used his destructive power to close my account and my family’s account without warning, or notice; especially my family’s account had nothing to do with me. I wrote to the president of MOOB, he cared less, refused to respond, and approved the outrageous conduct of Flynn. MOOB also refused to answer BBB concerning the closures of our accounts. The balances of our accounts were not returned until 35 days after Flynn malicious closed them and the refunds were insufficient. Hope some day justice can be done to this unethical and corrupt MOOB that is toxic to society and human kind. Strongly NOT recommend MOOB to anyone!

My boyfriend decided to buy a house. Great! Yay!
Unfortunately, we got hooked up with a mortgage officer named Holly.
He started the process in September. Supplied Holly with everything she asked for.
We found a house towards the end of October. We asked to close by the end of November.
Boyfriend was traveling for work during this, so we had some hurdles to clear with him being always out of town. We cleared every hurdle, did everything that was asked of us. Our agent is amazing, and he worked hard for us. Holly dropped the ball on so many occasions you’d think she didn’t WANT to do her job. She did nothing to keep track of deadlines, our real estate agent had to ask why she hadn’t processed the appraisal paperwork 2 weeks after the appraisal was done. We were supposed to close on the house yesterday. Today she called the boyfriend asking for verification of his employment. HELLO, isn’t this something you should have had cleared up and DONE back in SEPTEMBER? Holly doesn’t communicate well, and when she does, it’s not good news. I realize that our situation is unique, but neither of us feel as though we are being helped by Holly at all. Only hindered. In retrospect, we should have gone somewhere else, but we’re too deep in it now. Holly’s negligence is costing us money in storage fees and so many other things. We will be writing an official letter of complaint to this bank. If this is how it’s OK to treat your customers, we don’t want anybody else to get suckered in and ignored and abused.
Avoid the mortgage department, at the very least.
