Solid 3.5 dive bar, but gets the fourth star for Ray’s Original Wings serving up delicious Buffalo Wings inside. Located in South O, the Lemon Drop is pretty unassuming from the outside. Inside it has the feel of a classic dive bar. Christmas lights on the ceiling, a couple video games and pinball machines, pool table, and some older tables and chairs. When I was there, they had a couple day drinkers, as well as a couple families that stopped in, so you can count on an eclectic mix. Basic drink selections, but they do have Hopluia on tap, so that was an unexpected plus. With Ray’s serving up good grub in the small kitchen in back, this is a nice dive bar to check out.

I’ve driven by Lemon Drop many-a-time over the years, and am glad I finally had a chance to stop by recently. I’ll admit, I was there for Ray’s Original Buffalo Wings, an independent business that operates as the kitchen of Lemon Drop, but come on, beer and hot wings go together better than bread and butter. As for the Lemon Drop, it’s dark and cozy, spacious and clean. There were a handful of bikers in there day drinking — always a good sign of a quality dive bar. After the group I was with was finishing our drinks, a couple families wondered in, a few kiddos in tow. Appears Lemon Drop is a great place to spread out after that grueling Little League game. Tap-wise, don’t expect anything special, although there were a couple locals to choose from plus your tried-and-true domestics. Whiskey sour? Gin and tonic? Yeah, they can serve that right up for you, no sweat. Next time you’re plowing down South 36th, don’t skip the Lemon Drop, especially if you need a place to relax for an hour or two.

I started going to the Lemon Drop once Ray’s Wings took over the kitchen. As a childhood fan of Ray’s, I had to see if the food was as good as my memory and it did not disappoint. I have brought many people to the Lemon Drop since and they all agree that the wings are the best in town. As for the bar, I am a fan of dives and this place is a decent dive. The tables and atmosphere are quite nice actually, the juke box is online, and the single pool table is of good quality. I’ve had mixed drinks and the pours were good. Not extremely stiff drinks and not short handed either. Summary: The food makes this a must visit and the bar won’t make you regret it.

Went to the Lemon Drop on a recent Sunday afternoon after reading a review in the paper written by a friend who reviews dive bars. I was a bit skeptical as we pulled up, not much curb appeal, a typical south Omaha dive bar is what I thought. Upon entering though i was quite impressed! One half of the bar was a bit more intimate with Christmas lights strung throughout the ceiling, a few arcade games and a TV. The other half of the bar had a pool table and on the day we were there they had professional message therapists ready to take care of your aches and pains.(Every second Sunday of the month they are there). The Lemon Drop proudly serves up Rays Original Buffalo Wings and satisfies your hungry bar cravings. Everything from their famous wings to a fried bologna and onion sandwich to deep fried hot dogs and your typical burgers. Prices are very reasonable, good food, and friendly bar patrons and staff. Would highly recommend stopping by for a margarita, watching a Husker game, or just dropping by to experience a little bit of what the Lemon Drop has to offer.

I’d say I’ve been to Lemon Drop about a dozen times and I’d say over half the trips have been pleasant. Sure they once had loud, annoying karaōke… but a lot of bars do. Lemon Drop is your typical South O dive bar… in other words, it’s nothing fancy. Clean enough. The last two times in we had the same bartender. This lady is a cheat. She makes a weak drink and she is a short change artist. Let’s say a beer and a whiskey & coke is $ 7, if you hand her a $ 20 you’d expect to get $ 13 back, right? Not so much. You might get $ 11 back or $ 12. The first two times this happened I didn’t say anything because I thought she was tipsy. Then I noticed the third time she keeps the money, sets it aside like a tip. WTF! I don’t understand this practice. I have vowed not to return. You’ve been warned. If I am in the mood for a cheap drink in a dive bar there are many, many better options.

Went there last week with a friend. The place itself was alright it was the service I had a problem with. The bartender didn’t like the fact that I just wanted water. Well excuse me for being the designated driver! Besides, it’s not like I don’t tip. We were there waiting for more of our friends to show up. Needless to say we all met up at The Brass Monkey instead. Why should it matter if I just want a water? All my friends drink and tip. I tip as well, even better for good service and I also put my money in the jukebox and things like that. It’s not like I’m just there loitering and causing a disturbance. This is the first time I’ve ever been to a bar that gave me a hard time for ordering a water. I’ll never go back to this place ever again. Go down the street to The Brass Monkey instead. It’s a nicer bar than this place and better service.

Lemon Drop is a really cool bar. There is a small lot in the back for parking. There is ample street parking available. They have a really good music box. An enclosed porch on the backside of the bar that you can smoke on. A few tvs. Great bar specials. I would recommend checking out the Lemon Drop if you’re in the area.
