Plenty of local venues are featured here. Amazing bartenders and great ambiance. Get your favorite drink, chill in one of their comfy chaise lounges, and just people watch. Enjoy the local crowd :)

We were here for Dystopia. Here is the thing: the bar is beautiful. It is just wonderfully decorated and I love it. Here is why I won’t be returning: three people in the bar at 9:00 and it took 15+ minutes to get a Coors Light bottle and a Rum & Coke. Further, there is no floor service, so you have to continue to go back to said slow bar and wait… and wait… and wait… and wait. BOTH bartenders looked right at me and walked away. It wasn’t until I finally said, «umm can I get a drink?» that I was acknowledged. Shit service. Hipsters, seriously, get over yourselves.

5 stars for atmosphere, service, and variety of fun events. There is something here for anyone, from slam poetry to Bollywood to EBM. All in a lovely venue full of velvety vintage lounge furniture, much like gothic Victorian parlor. I very much enjoy absinthe, and House of Loom is one of the few places that serve it. I’m surprised at how many people I talk to who aren’t aware that it is available here. Try it out, you might like it!($ 8 at the cheapest btw) I would give House of Loom 5 stars if it were not for some of the surprise prices on the cocktails. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by dive bars(probably). That being said, their cocktails ARE magnificent. A Manhattan anywhere else is inferior.

I felt I was a little too old… DJ in the corner, hip lighting, overpriced cocktails? Check check check, however I had a blast and felt younger when I left than when I entered. Thanks!

This was my first time at House of Loom and I must say that it is a pretty cool place. The lighting, the bar area, and the antique furniture made it stand out. The only downside was that they double booked on this particular night. My wife and I went to watch a friend play in the band, but, unfortunately, a party was booked at the same time so it made it a little difficult to listen until they left.

Went there on Sunday night when they have salsa lessons followed by salsa dancing. Shout out to Blando!!! Great service and affordable prices.

Ummmmmmmm… $ 81.5 oz. pours of Macallan 12. Enough said. Been here a few times and have always had a good time. Great lounge area on the raised level with antique-inspired furniture(couches, tables, etc.). Nice little bar with some really quick, courteous bar tenders. Cocktail waitress is always friendly and attentive. And the DJ last Friday was great! People actually got up and danced, sang along and had a great time — he played some great classics and knew when to transition to the next song, and as activity on the dance floor picked up, you could really see him hit his stride. Very rarely do I go to a bar with a DJ and see everyone move to the dance floor(and stay there) like that. Kudos. Definitely worth a stop if you’re on a bar crawl or want to show friends who are visiting what the Omaha bar scene is like. One complaint — wish the smokers outside had to go further away. With the doors outside opening and closing(there’s an outdoor area with seating), all the smoke gets into the bar.

My brother-in-law and I went to the House of Loom this past Saturday night. We walk in and were asked if we were in Barcamp,(some social networking thing), and we said no and we went into the bar area. These people,(you could tell since they all had name tags), know how to party. A DJ was there playing some really good music and there were a lot of people at the dance floor. The décor is very cool with antique chairs used for seating. The House of Loom also has a dance floor. The bar was packed and busy so I understood waiting at the bar for about 5 minutes for a drink. I asked how much a small glass of the Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel was thinking it was around $ 8 as the MaCallan 12-year scotch is only $ 8 a glass. The bar tender comes back and says $ 18. WHAT? $ 18 for a glass of a liquor where the bottle is only $ 40 at any grocery store. Give me a break!!! So I ordered something else. I love the atmosphere of this place but the price of the Jameson is just completely ridiculous.

One of the bartenders was drinking water from a bottle of ciroc and said, «I bet someone is going to Unilocal about this.»

Fun atmosphere. The bartenders were very friendly. They make a great Cucumber Collins. I’m a fan. My husband and I had never visited before the Unilocal Party and now I really want to go back!

Nicely decorated. I don’t drink alcohol… but I see that they put a generous amount of alcohol in their drinks. I love the environment… I’ve attended this place for poetry night… Verbal Gumbo… and it is a treat to see all the talent that Omaha has. Very diverse event!

Attended a party on Saturday evening and ended up leaving before the night even got started. I’ve never been to a customer driven business that seemed so hell bent on running customers away. Staff everywhere — they couldn’t be missed as they were the loudest people there. Attire should also be addressed… I’m anything but a «weightist», but some people should not wear shear lace and short skirts — the skirt showed too many of the bruises and scabs all over her legs and thighs and the lace showed too much of everything. There are just some things that cannot be un-seen. I’ve been here before when the owners were present — but I will never return unless I know the owners are on site. Having employees stand next to your table, blowing smoke at you and screaming at each other is not only unprofessional, it takes tacky to a new level. A bunch of unsupervised teenagers, was the behavior I witnessed. Saturday night was a mess… and the cast of characters that are supposed to be employees are apparently paid to party and make paying guests feel as though they’ve intruded into their own private party. And trust me… it wasn’t a party I cared to be at, after the non-welcome. I had one drink(had planned on staying all evening and dancing the night away), said my goodbyes and got out of there as quickly as possible. Wanna be hipsters are worse than actual hipsters. My advice? No one needs this kind of attitude when spending their money — there are other places in Omaha that appreciate customers. Ugh.

I really wanted to love this place. Just don’t get why it is so inconsistent and poorly ran. Craft cocktails does not be 15 minute drink times… Don’t be something you can’t be given the layout of the bar and general traffic that bottles up on one end. Décor is cool, creative events, but needs a good GM that is hands on.

House of Loom is one of the best venues in Omaha. Not only do they have some great craft cocktails, the bartenders are welcoming and entertaining, and they are consistently holding a wide variety of events that are wonderful for the community. Tuesdays hold some of the best karaōke that I’ve ever witnessed. They host Verbal Gumbo every third Thursday, a beautiful and inspiring spoken word group. They’ve started hosting local artists on a bi-monthly basis, but also hold fundraisers, book musicians, and open their space up to private parties. Check out their website for specifically themed events that you don’t want to miss. Bollywood, Wonderland, Green Fairy, Dia de los Muertos, etc.

Decent It wasn’t what I imagined from the news paper articles and online searches. Keep in mind this is just an honest PERSONAL opinion. Hopefully not too offensive. We went for the New Years Eve celebration as we had heard and read on omahanightlife that it would be «the place to be»…paid the $ 15 cover charge(expected on NYE) and ended up leaving ten minutes later. Let me explain why. The music being played was outdated, generic and the DJ kept making demands, such as «raise your hands» and«jump up and down», dude, I get inserting banter to enhance the experience but it was a bit much. To be fair, we first noticed the décor and layout and were mildly impressed/bemused. The dance light(s) was decent and the room was decorated to fit the«Alice in Wonderland» theme of the night. The bartenders seemed polite and professional. I ordered a double Makers Mark on coke and it was a pretty big glass.($ 12) so Bravo. Hence the 2nd star. Location; being on the other side of the bridge, away from old market made the establishment mildly inconvenient. Uncomfortable walking conditions if it falls below 30°. So a cab was required to and from. But close enough to ‘downtown’ to get a 3rd star. But the crowd seemed a bit young. And quite a few ‘cookie cutter’ hipsters, which I know… I’m sorry there is a large hipster crowd in Omaha. Just not exactly our scene. It just all seemed a bit, strange and uncomfortable. There wasn’t any seating to speak of unless you had reserved a table. The two patrons I did speak too were very friendly and easy going, so another thumbs up. But just something about the place didn’t sit well with us and we decided to forsake the already paid cover and depart the location shortly after arriving. If I were a bit younger or a bit more liberal, I might have enjoyed it. But as it stands, 3 stars: not bad for a Midwest club/bar in my book. We shall not be returning.

Great spot to hang out outside of the main Old Market strip. House of Loom offers unique events almost nightly, featuring top local and national DJ talent. Great drinks too, especially their craft cocktails. House of Loom is probably the best spot to go out dancing in Omaha if you want to be embraced by a welcoming crowd in an intimate venue.

Let me preface my review by stating that I am grown with a grownup job, a grownup early bedtime, and a grownup wardrobe that screams«middle age mom». OK… so perhaps some of that’s an exaggeration, but seriously, I am not the«tear it up on a random weekday» kinda girl. So when we decided to pop in for a birthday cocktail last Tuesday night, the plan was to try one of Loom’s fancy pants cocktails then hightail it home. But apparently all plans are meant to be broken. The cocktails were indeed crafty both visually and flavorfully. And if swank drinks aren’t your thang, then the $ 1 beer special they had going on makes a night out ridiculously affordable. Add the karaōke bit(oh yes, the best kind of live, bar entertainment) and some friendly staff and patrons and you’ve got yourself a Tuesday night turns into Wednesday pre-sunrise food truck pre-sleepy time binge kinda of experience. Loved it.

Following the recommendation from Richard, our bartender at 801 Chophouse, the girlfriend and I made our way to House of Loom. Without a doubt, if we didn’t know where we were going, we would’ve passed right on by the non-descript building which houses the House of Loom without even knowing it. While it may not be much to look at from the outside(but then again, what great bar has great curb appeal?), House of Loom’s dark, basement-like interior resonates with a cool, unique vibe that feels equal parts speakeasy, underground dance club, and your grandparents sitting room. Eclectic interior aside, after just one trip House of Loom has instantly become one of my favorite places in Omaha for its outstanding cocktail program. It was a Wednesday night around 8 pm, so the place was practically empty. We were capably served by Ben, a talented bartender who obviously possessed considerable passion for making craft cocktails. He was personable, knowledgeable, yet humble, and truly a perfectionist; tasting his cocktails prior to serving them, making sure the proportions are correct. Clear spirit-based cocktails dominated the intriguing seasonal drink menu that was currently in effect. However, I prefer my liquors dark like bourbon and scotch. So I went off menu and asked for a bartender’s choice on a whiskey-based drink. Ben whipped up his version of the Bourbon Swizzle with precision and care, adding in fresh mint and peach bitters, giving it a peachy Mint Julep-like twist. It was a definitely boozy, yet very refreshing cocktail. It was perfect for the moment. Since we had an early flight the following morning and one more place to check out before calling it a night, we stopped at one drink. House of Loom was a very pleasant surprise. Who knew you could find a well-made, craft cocktail in Omaha? Most assuredly, House of Loom will be at the top of my list for a return visit the next time I’m in Omaha.

I’m gonna trip out a bit here so stay with me. Once you experience Loom, enjoy and participate, you will get it. Maybe you won’t love it but you’ll fit in and how many places can you say everyone fits in — seemlessly. Pun out — this 5h! t is woven solid. The beer on tap is varied and changes regularly, usually a theme like local brewers or seasonal. The cocktails are fabulous — fresh ingredients, expertly crafted with classics and riffs. Every employee I’ve met is enthusiastic and professional. Sure, sometimes it gets busy, but I consider it a good sign that people like the place and you can always get your groove on while you wait. Also, Loom is really good about posting the daily events on their Facebook page. I wish more businesses updated their websites and/or Fb on a regular basis. Here’s a sample of this week: «Every Friday from 5−8… happy hour prices, occasional DJs or live music PLUS complimentary food from Casablanca Moroccan Café.» «Happening every Saturday(apart from special events)… is all about creating a space to dance on a Saturday night with no hassle, no cover, no pretense and no top 40.» «Every 2nd&4th Wednesday of the month, for $ 15, enjoy a select martini from House of Loom + a manicure from Sirens Salon. Also enjoy HoL’s usual happy hour menu prices.» «The first sock hop was just too good, so we decided to make it a regular thing. Every 2nd-Thursday of the month, Chris Aponick and crew will transport House of Loom back to the early days of rock ‘n’ roll.»

From their website, «House of Loom serves culture, community & craft cocktails». Can’t really get more accurate than that.(Though since it was the last stop on a birthday extravaganza of an evening, I probably shouldn’t get too much into the details that I do recall specifically beyond that.) I will say, though, that it was awesome. As for more shameless website pilfering: «From DJ-led dance parties, interesting & diverse live musicians, visual & performing art, along with providing a forum to discuss & learn about social issues within our community, House of Loom at its core is an artful social experiment». To some that description might scare you off. But then this probably isn’t the place for you if that’s the case. The pictures pretty accurately convey the vibe. This might be my new favorite bar… if you want to call it that.
