I rarely need photo services but when I do I am so grateful that Dons camera exists! Years ago I used to go to their old location by the transit center. They have always been so knowledgable and helpful. Makes me miss shooting film

Becase we live on Kauai, we are often missing critical pieces of equipment or services to deal with our digital(and, yes, sometimes non-digital) cameras. That’s the reality of living in a more remote place than many are used to. Don’s provides those critical pieces of equipment and help/helpful information that people need when they’re stuck with a nonworking camera, or one that is missing something you absolutely need. I was able to find things here that the local megastores didn’t even consider worth carrying, and I was very glad I came in.

I’m not entirely sure what the purpose of this shop is. They develop and scan film, but their scan quality is sub par. If you ask them if your vintage camera can be repaired, they’ll merely glance at it, hand it back to you and tell you, «no.» Not a lot of retail items. Prices for services are outrageous. They’ll lose your negatives for you if you let them. I was going on a regular basis simply out of convenience but one too many times being disappointed was enough for me.

They don’t sell cameras here — this is a place to have your ancient dinosaur media converted to a format recognized by the 21st century.
