Pretty crappy! Why should Employees give a 2 weeks notice if places just close over night with no notice. I was a fan, but after hearing this I hope the owner goes bankrupt and goes to jail for something dumb and gets raped in the butt by a previous employee. And their newly aquired FlatTop Grill Sucks in my opinion!!!

Never cared too much for this place — the customer service was always lacking. They put out A LOT of coupons but then refused to honor them, or would only honor them with certain menu items, etc. The point is now moot because this location is permanently CLOSED.

This is my 1st time trying bd’s Mongolian grill and what a pleasant surprise. I was waited on by Bianca and she was wonderful. She thoroughly explained how bd works from the salad bar to the never ending bowls of stir fry. Then I went up to chow down. I selected my various choices of meats, veggies, and sauces. It was a pleasant surprise watching the chefs prepare my meal. These guys work really hard. I could never do that. Then it was time to eat. Delicious. I left full and well satisfied. Wow I can’t wait to go back. Great job bd’s

I guess if you want a Mongolian fix, this will have to do. Service was great. Prices were steep. I wasn’t standing there with a thermometer but I do NOT think my pork was cooked thoroughly despite it being so thin, only because I had a severe bellyache shortly after eating. Charge you additional $ 4 or $ 5 for second plate then another $ 2.99 if you can’t finish it and want to take home a doggy bag. That’s pure pettiness. The overhead on their cheap meats is minimal. No need to charge tit for tat. Won’t return.

Not bad. Not great. I’m glad they’re here in the area, but I wish the quality was better. The quality of the selection of ingredients varies from time to time– some days it’s great and other times I’m not sure I should be throwing some of the ingredients into my bowl. The service is usually great– friendly staff, prompt service(sitting, refilling drinks, keeping the tables clear/clean). Parking is shared with the plaza, so you park and walk across traffic(leaving and entering into the plaza) to get to the restaurant. The side parking is usually full.

This was my first time here and we loved it. There were great selections for the choices of meat, vegetables and sauce to add to your bowl. What made our experience enjoyable was our server Lace. In the past at an establishment along these lines the server often gets your first drink and then disappears from sight. She made sure we were comfortable, had drinks the entire time without requesting and was attentive even after we were finished with our meal.

Ugh, This place used to be so good. Had a lot of fun making my bowls before and the guys who cooked were more interactive. Now, the quality of the food and meats is so low. And they practically burnt my food, was making a pad thai and wanted lime on it and they burnt my noodles while they were waiting for some guy to get some lime to squeeze on it.(like the recipe card suggested) Only good thing was my huckleberry lemonade. Left after I tasted my food, and went somewhere else.

Good for a week night dinner. You get to pick all your own ingredients which I like(I’m very particular on my shrimp to broccoli ratio) and you can watch the cooks make it. Seems a bit pricey for what you get and I’m kinda iffy about the raw meats sitting out on ice because it looks like food poisoning just waiting to happen, and most of the time the meat leans towards overcooked while the veggies lean toward undercooked, but it’s a cool place to go if youre going to the movies next door or something.

We should have known from the cheesy name that this was not going to be an authentic taste experience. The exterior looked clean and nice, but the interior was laid out more like a sports bar than anything with a Mongolian touch. Then the food. I have been searching for the past thirty years for a Mongolian Grill like the one I used to frequent in Hong Kong where everyone cooks their own dinner on a grill right in front of each place setting. What makes this method so tasty is you can time exactly how long you want each ingredient cooked. At BD we handed the cook a small bowl filled with ingredients of varying quality with watery sauces on the side. In fact they kept adding ice cubes to the sauces while we dined rendering them completely flavorless. When the cook gave us our bowls back,(after frying everything at once) the meats were so overcooked they were unidentifiable and the vegetables were barely chewable because they were undercooked. When we asked for extra rice it came in a sticky lump which had to be cut apart in blocks… obviously the victim of hours in a rice cooker. We have two free coupons to entice us back again. We are not going.

Well-stocked choices for meats & seafood, plus plenty of vegetable and pasta choices. When we arrived, the hostess seated us promptly. We’ve been here probably twenty times and only a few times has it been so busy we couldn’t be seated right away. We often stop in for a quick, healthy meal. Along with the Mongolian BBQ choices, there is a nice soup & salad bar that is now included with the meal. The meal is usually so quick on our plate that we don’t order appetizers; the appetizers are good though, and worth the time if you want to extend your stay. We’re usually on our way to something else, so we tend not to linger. So, seated, the waitress appears right on the hostess’ heels to take our drink orders and check on our dining choices. They always ask if we’ve been in before, which saves us & them time. Denica H., our waitress was very attentive throughout, and although we’ve come to expect it, it’s still notable. It indicates a good training program. Right after the drinks, we got our bowls for the BBQ and ordered meal complements of brown rice(yay!), white rice and wheat tortillas. There are about thirty trays of meats & veggies, plus tofu and eggs, pasta, so, plenty of choices. Next, the almost dizzying array of sauces, spices, nuts and such to top your bowl or add at the end of the grilling on the GIGANTICBBQ wheel. The cooks are really very efficient keeping the guests moving through the line and often the manager will step in and guide patrons to spots when it’s super busy. At the BBQ station the cooks take your bowl and arrange it on the grill. Sometimes there may be a little back and forth between the orders, a pea here, a sausage there, but usually it works out well. Vegans can ask for preparation and separation to ensure no carnal contamination(:-) The meal is ready in about 5 minutes, sauced to your choice, and you’re off to your table to enjoy your selection. If it’s not too crowded, I like to top my meal with fresh cilantro and scallions, even some peanuts. Since salad is now included, it’s fine to pop a few salad line items in as well, be mindful not to cross-contaminate please! One thing, be careful about the sauces. None seem too spicy to taste, but somehow in cooking that heat reappears. Also, I have found that while I enjoy spicy food, sometimes I get heavy-handed with the extra spices. At the grill, you can add heat from a number of famous sauces that work well with the food. The staff have been very accommodating when we show up with our after-church crowd. The entry seems a little tight but navigable for wheelchairs and walkers, likewise going through the line, but I’m sure that the staff would help if asked.

Gluten free options!!! Score — the server(Saphire) was extremely adorable. She explained the process of picking what you wanted to eat, and put in some great appetizers for us that were waiting at the table when we got back from our first trip to the Wok Grill. There is a separate grill section for people with allergies(which I used to avoid any gluten contamination) and there are tons of options for someone avoiding gluten. They have a full nutritional guide, INCLUDING ingredient listings for all the sauces, soups and dressings that is totally available by the grill. I really enjoyed the service, the food, and the whole look of the building.

Food was good, salad bar was a bit weak, but you can use the veggies on the other bars for a great salad. Drinks are pretty cheap, 2 well rum and cokes with lime were $ 5 — all the time. Don’t bother with all you can eat, get the one time through and stack up the bowl like a high-rise building! Then check in on Unilocal to get a free mini-desert! Not a bad dinner… more food than I needed to eat. We think the restaurant could be cleaner, and the menus were dog-eared and not wiped down. Made us wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen… but the food is cooked on such a hot wok we didn’t really worry too much. We thought this place has great potential, but it seems like it just needs a good cleaning, and some maintenance.

bd’s Mongolian Grill is an interesting premise, but in practice we’ve been fairly ‘meh’ about it. The food is tasty, provided it’s fresh. Like with any other buffet-style restaurant, if the parking lot isn’t very full, you may want to wait as the food will sit out longer before replenishing. The main draw to the restaurant is its hibachi-like grill. You place food on your plate, put spices/sauces in cups, and have the chefs prepare it for you. Usually, it’s a great way to make sure your food is fresh, cooked to order, etc. I really dislike the really long blades that they use. The blades(not really a blade, but close enough) are used to beat the heck out of your food. Your delicious looking steak will turn into a pile of mush after being manhandled by the chefs. Instead of nice chunks of beef, you get tiny shreds mixed up within everything else. And as they use the same blade/tool to cook multiple dishes at once, some of another person’s meal may(and likely will) end up in your own dish. I’m not allergic to anything, but I do have intense dislikes about certain foods, and really don’t like it when my food is served with«extras» that I had no interest in. For what you get, the price is overly high. Our family of four(2 adults, 2 kids) never seem to pay less than $ 45, and that’s before any tax/tip. The food really isn’t worth paying that price. Going at lunch will save you a bit of money, as the offerings are the same and, if you get the unlimited bowl option, you can end up with the same amount of food for a few dollars left. We have redeemed a Groupon here before, and have had similar experiences to Nicole M. Our waitress was very upset when we told her(at the beginning of the meal) that we had a Groupon. She then spent most of the meal ignoring us. We had to flag down another waiter for drink refills and for our bill. I can only guess that she’s used to Grouponers being substandard tippers that she didn’t feel it worth her time to help us… but substandard service only guarantees a substandard tip. :/It’s a pity since they are one of the businesses that seem to put out a new Groupon(or similar) deal every month or so.

bd’s Mongolian Grill is one heck of a fun restaurant serving up some mighty tasty stir fry. bd’s is a nationwide chain, and they opened up here in the Oldsmar area — midway between NW Hillsborough and Clearwater. If you’re driving out of Tampa, follow Hillsborough Avenue until it becomes Tampa Road, and then veer off onto Curlew Road at the light. You’ll find bd’s in a shopping center formed by the V-shaped intersection of Tampa & Curlew Roads. Make sure that you check in on Unilocal when you get to the restaurant as that nets you a free mini dessert at the conclusion of your meal. Last night they offered cherry cheesecake or Cookies ‘n Cream served in a shot glass for the two mini dessert options. We were seated quickly, and the server was right there to welcome us and take our drink orders. The menu is very simple — do you want stir fry or were you planning to eat somewhere else? For first-time visitors the server takes the time to explain the layout of the serving stations, and the suggested recipe combinations for people with no sense of adventure. You’re instructed to take a serving bowl and pile it on as you move from one station to the next — finally handing over your bowl of treasures to one of the chefs who will grill it up on a 7-foor round grill amid much banging and hollering.(More about that later). The first station is for Meat & Seafood, and you’ll find thinly-sliced chopped beef, ribeye, pork, chicken, sausage, fresh fish and seafood, along with different types of pastas. Pile it into the bowl that your server has handed to you. Your next stop is the Veggies station, and here you can load up on bean sprouts, onions, peppers, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, baby ears of corn, different types of beans, eggs, and more to add into your stir fry. The third station is for sauces and spices where you’ll find crocks of different wet sauces, and smaller jars filled with dried spices and spice blends. At this station you add the sauce and spice mixture into a separate container, and then carry your bowl and your spice container over to the chefs at the grill. You can stand there and watch them grill your food, or you can step away to the salad bar where you’ll find fresh fixings and two different types of soups. Help yourself, and walk that back over to your table while the guys finish grilling your food. If you stay at the grill, you’ll see this choreographed ballet as each chef takes a turn chopping up the food from your bowl with these three-food long metal tongs. There is much clanging, yelling back and forth, and rowdy showmanship as the cooks keep working in a circle to chop up the servings of food, carefully sear each piece, chop everything some more, pour on the sauces and spices, scoop each serving of grilled food onto a plate, scrape down the grill, and then start all over. If you put a tip in the tip jar then one of the cooks will bang the nearby gong and they will all shout out«Thank You» while they pound their metal tongs onto the grill in appreciation. Thoroughly amused from the show at the grill, you return to your table with your plate of stir fry, and the server is there to offer you bowls of steamed sticky white rice, brown rice, fried rice, and even tortillas to go with your food. The flavors are amazing, and you can chose to tackle your dinner with a fork or try your hand with chopsticks. The cost for each diner is $ 12.99, and for a couple of bucks more you can get unlimited bowls of stir-fry, plus trips to the soup & salad bar. bd’s is open for lunch and dinner, and it is a super-fun time with a lot of tasty food.

Make Your Own This place is known for its make-your-own dish. You get a bowl. You put in some meat(chicken or pork etc. they even have lamb). Then you put your veggies from a variety of everything you’d ever want to put in a dish. Precious likes to put a couple of pieces of diced pineapple. Every now and then you get a little surprise in a bite. Then they have a entire table of sauces to choose from. And then of course the spices. You pick what you want. Then you bring it over to the dudes. They cook it, put it on a plate and give it to you. It’s just wonderful. Then back at the table you tell the waiter what type of rice you want or noodles. It’s just the way you like it. If you’re lazy or not the creative type or for whatever reason they have menus, and you can order right off the menu too. All in all it’s a great restaurant. Every time I’m in the area I am sure to go to this place. But there’s one thing I’d like to add. I know what you’re going to say, «Dave, there’s a time and place to say something like this, and it’s not here.» But then tell me: when is the time and when is the place if not here? I have a problem with them using the term«Mongolian». It’s not Mongolian. I thought it was eating Mongolian style food. Then I met someone from Mongolia. Just like with Mongolian beef. It’s not a Mongolian dish. It was invented in America, and someone decided to call it «Mongolian» to make it seem exotic. I have a friend from Mongolia, and she is beautiful. People are flattered when you ask about their cultures so when we asked her to come over and cook a typical Mongolian lunch, she agreed. It was wonderful. We talked all afternoon about Mongolian culture. But BD’s Mongolian Grill ain’t Mongolian.

I’ve visited BD’s many times before and stopped in for dinner this week for my birthday(which was a free meal since it was my birthday! :D) They offer a fresh salad and soup bar(from which you can eat unlimited servings with the purchase of any bow, or it’s about $ 6 by itself) which includes 2 different soup choices everyday. They also have a variety of tasty appetizers, including wings, spicy shrimp, nachos, etc. Pro Tip: These are half price on Sundays. Sometimes, I just stick with getting the soup and salad bar, but this time, I decided to get the stir fry and it was excellent. I like how you can create your entire meal here from start to finish, just how you like it. There’s a wide array of meats & seafoods, pasta, veggies, spices and sauces located up on the bar. You can either choose one of their pre made recipe suggestions or go wild and make it yourself(just keep it simple, too many sauces/spices can make a weird combo). Keep in mind, the server will bring you your choice of white rice, brown rice, tortillas or lettuce wraps to mix with your bowl, so i dont normally get any of the pasta since rice is already on its way. I like to get my bowl loaded up with rib-eye and shrimp as well as some veggies and sauce and then bring it to the guys to cook it up on the grill. It’s always delicious and i usually 3 meals out of it, so well worth the money spent. In addition to the food, they have a great drink menu here and some decent specials. They always have $ 1 Bud select. Sure, it’s not the best beer ever, but not a bad choice for that price. They also have some tasty dessert shooters to wrap up your meal, and when i’ve checked in on Unilocal in the past they give it to you for free. PS keep an eye out for groupon and living social deals!

I’d like to start by saying I’m a regular here. But this is the first time Amber has waited on me and I must say it was busy as hell in that place and Amber for the time to wait on myself, all her other tables AND cooking my food in the allergy zone. I’m allergic to selfish and she noticed me standing there waiting for help and she jumped right in and started cooking my food. Then brought me more drinks to my table lol. Now that personal touch isn’t always there. But I thank her for going out of her way to make sure I was taken care of. I’ve been here many times and i WILLNOT walk into this place and not ask for Amber. A couple of the waitresses seem to be to busy for a personal touch but not her. Thanks I see someone said this place reminded them of ruby Tuesdays. Really? NOWAY at least IMO. The food was great the place in clean and I highly recommend splurging on the unlimited bowl that way you can try a little bit of everything and change flavors. One bowl piled hi with all kinds of stuff just robs you and Bd’s of so many great choices and combinations. I can’t say enough about Bd’s and Amber. THANKSTOBOTH!!! I’ll see you soon.
