My husband has been a customer for over 15 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. He always wants his hair to look natural, not like it’s been freshly cut, and BJ knows exactly how to do it. Unlike most barber shops, the conversation is lively, the stylists very friendly, welcoming and professional.

I have been getting my haircut by Linda for as long as I can remember. She’s awesome and I love the old school neighborhood feel of the place.

I was long overdue, running on a tight schedule, so I used Unilocal to find and select a spot near Exit 5 on I-95. Read several reviews and settled on Village Barbers on Sound Beach Avenue. Have passed it thousands of times over the years. Have even used another down the street. Karma! Linda was outgoing, engaging, focused on her customer. Being in the chair was like being with an old friend. And I received one of my best haircuts ever. A casual observation has solved my hair in the eyes challenge. Shirley loves that! She does take appointments as I learned from the young fellow ahead chatting with her, and the gentleman following me. Try this. I am going back in 4 – 6 weeks.

Wonderful local barber shop. Very professional, polite and punctual staff. Have been going there for several years with excellent results from all the barbers. Am not a planner… I call and ask for an appointment within the next 15 minutes, and take whoever is available. I get an outstanding haircut with no waiting at a reasonable price.

I had a very bad experience here on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Walk-in for men’s haircut. I have very straight, thick hair, parted on the side. Business Cut. There’s nothing the least bit«stylish» about my hair. There were two women there who were middle aged, of American roots. Both had very nice hair. Unfortunately, the lottery system didn’t work out such that I had my hair cut by one of them. The women who cut my hair had natty, icky hair, pulled back in a pony tail. She didn’t speak English well. We exchanged some pleasantries before discussing my cut. I warned her that the only thing i was sensitive to was where the top of my hair transitions with the side. I asked her to be careful there.(in barber shops, a guy with a set of clippers can run afoul if he/she buzzes up the side and then tries to transition the longer hair on top with the clipper cut on the side.) Well, that’s exactly what I got. I look like the St Barnard from the Loony Tunes cartoons. Clippers up the side and woof! St Barnard. I got home and my wife just started howling… Seriously, what the heck was I thinking! Every since Dania left The Haircut Place across the street, I’ve been screwed for a decent haircut in this town. On the plus side, the wait was short and everyone(including the hack that butchered me) was very nice and very pleasant. Just be careful in this place. It’s not a lay-up. I have to wait a few weeks and then take this hair to someone to fix… grrrr

Owner BJ is awesome. She managed to give my 3 year old a perfect cut DURING a tantrum. Small town charm, great cuts.

I tried to take my son to the«Haircut Place» across the street, but the wait was 45 minutes. Though I had heard horrible things about the Village Barbers, I decided to try it in the interest of time. Unfortunately, the rumors are true. The owner(the dark haired woman I presume to be the owner — who would keep her on otherwise?) shouts rude orders every 5 – 10 minutes at both her employees and customers. It’s no wonder there was no wait, no one would make the mistake of entering a second time.

Seems weird reviewing a barber… but I guess that’s part of Unilocal!Village Barbers are always courteous and give a great haircut!
