To be fair, I ordered my lunch to-go, but, my office is also only ¾ of a mile away, so it’s not like I took it very far. I ordered a California Roll which was room temperature(I was expecting it at least partially cold since I hope they refrigerate their meat and produce). I also ordered a crunchy shrimp tempura roll which was fairly decent, but also room temperature(which I was not expecting since they should have just cooked my shrimp, right?). I tried to order Ramen, but they were ‘out’ of something, so I ordered Tempura Udon(with pork instead of tofu) instead. This was absolutely inedible. It smelled terrible and tasted worse. Here’s the other thing: The floor was so sticky that when I turned to leave with my lunch, my shoe stuck to the floor and fell off my foot. No, that’s not an exaggeration. My foot literally came out of my shoe because it was stuck to the floor. That’s disgusting. And so was my lunch.

When you have to cram in around the sushi bar, you can be pretty sure your dinner won’t suck. It surely did not. Super fun, delicious food. Best way to try new things. We will be back for sure!

My family and I sat at the bar and ordered sushi off the train while watching the sushi chef as they prepared rolls, sashimis, rolls, and crab rangoons. When we came in, there was only a few customers who were also waiting to grab a small plate of sushi. We sat at the bar for almost 2 hours and watched the one plate with the same roll(Daikon Maki) that passed us over a hundred times. Overtime, the red tuna turned to black tuna(I’m not even talking about blackfin tuna). My son had to climb on the bar each time he grabbed a plate. The distance from the bar to the train is perfectly designed, it is still at arms reached. While the distance is far enough from children, it also is far enough from people who can’t keep their mouth closed when chewing. The fish was fresh(as mentioned earlier, we came in at the right time) and hot sake was at a perfect temperature. The price for the food and drinks were affordable and not expensive compared to some sushi restaurant in the 10 mile radius. The waitresses are very attentive and will stop-by to refill our water and sake(before we run out). We will be back whenever we are in the area, unfortunately, it isn’t a restaurant I will drive an hour out of the way(unless I’m introducing someone new to this sushi concept).

Sat at the sushi bar. Was offered a menu to choose items from the kitchen as well as eating off the train. We tried the steamed pork gyoza which were amazingly fresh and delicious! The options are the train were great but it would have been nice for a few more simple standards such as just a simple spicy tuna roll, yellow tail roll or salmon roll(the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5). There was some nigiri offered, so that helped fill the simple voids. The restaurant is clean and the décor is exactly what I expected! The prices were perfect(although not posted in regards to the plates on the train, so we weren’t sure what our bill would look like but it definitely didn’t break the bank). We will definitely be going back! *UPDATE: more fresh selections such as spicy tuna rolls on the train! Great again!

«Kaiten sushi» or «revolving sushi» is pretty common in Japan. Essentially the sushi chefs makes the rolls and places them on a belt; in this case, a train for any one to pick up. You pay based on the number of plates you consume and the color of the plates. Their sushi itself was decent but their ramen was a bit upsetting. It tasted identical to the shoyu ramen packets I buy at the grocery store. Yes there were additional toppings but doesn’t justify $ 8.95 for it. Skip the dumplings, it tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. Overall, not too impressed. –Sakura house charges $ 2.40 for yellow and $ 2.95 for purple plates but the prices aren’t posted any where. –There’s not a huge variety of sushi options and I saw a few plates that went around throughout the entire meal without being replaced. I wondered if they have a method of keeping track of how old the food is. –There should be a note of etiquette for the customers. I heard the group next to tell the other, «if you change your mind, just put it back.». No… If you grabbed it… You gotta take it.

I tried this place for lunch with a friend. I thought it was pretty good, we didn’t stay long enough or eat enough to get too many varieties but what I tried was good!

Went here for lunch and it satisfied our happy bellies. I was too hungry to take a lot of food pics though. I love the simple shrimp on top of the rice with the yummy sauce. I don’t what it’s called but I included a picture. I also love the baked mussels. I tried the miso ramen and it was a generous portion but I thought it was just okay– it wasn’t too memorable. I think the business hours on Unilocal are wrong. I took a picture of hours that were posted on the door.

I have been eating at the 75th St. location for many years. I was thrilled when I found out they were opening another location closer to us! At first I wanted to wait until they worked out any possible kinks, but then the kids asked to go and well frankly I just didn’t need much convincing! My youngest was a bit upset when we pulled up to the restaurant because it wasn’t what she was used to. As soon as she walked in and saw her favorite rolls she was excited again. We all thought everything tasted the same. We tried a couple rolls we didn’t recognize from the other location and they were great. My kids and I love our sauces so we asked for wasabi mayo and spicy mayo which we dipped everything in! Seriously though, ask for the sauces and dip everything! Especially the calamari! I just really love the concept of the sushi train. They have a good variety of cooked and raw sushi for everyone to enjoy. Everyone can enjoy their favorite roll without forcing someone to share with you. You could try 5 different types of rolls if you wanted to without breaking the bank!
