My family and I went here a couple days ago to eat and were treated so poorly that we walked out before ordering. The lady that seems to be the manager/owner told the waitress to sit us in the back. Which is fine, but when we asked to sit one table further from the stock room and restrooms the boss lady said no we had to sit at the last table. Even though there was plenty of room. This place is not family friendly and I do not recommend eating here.

This is our favorite place to get sushi in OKC. If I’m further south, Volcano in Moore, but Jin is real nice, it’s a lovely atmosphere, and take-out is efficient. Try the Yammi Yammi roll if you’re OK with spicy and scallops. Consistent over the past several years, sometimes I order something I don’t like(cause with any menu I’ve found in okc, it’s difficult to dodge all the tempura, mayo, cheese) but I’ve never been disappointed or annoyed with the quality(of fish, of cuts, of wrapping, of rice) like at other places. Check their hours. More than once we’ve changed plans and gone to Dot Wo in the same shopping center because they close in the afternoons as well as on Sun and Mon. Actually, I’m tempted to add a fifth star for that, because I interpret those hours as taking care of employees rather than exploiting.

I feel it is my civic duty to warn others of this place. There are so many other sushi options in OKC, you don’t need to risk your well-being to go to this one. My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday night and the place was completely dead. Probably has something to do with the extremely rude front lady, maybe consider being nice to your customers? We ate about half of our sushi rolls before giving up and leaving. Don’t risk your stomach lining. We could just tell the fish wasn’t fresh and honestly thought we were leaving with stomach poisoning. I’m surprised our date didn’t end with us hugging the toilet while romantically barfing our guts out. To this day(6 months later) we still cringe when we think of that place and had to take a hiatus from sushi altogether for about 3 months. If I could give this place a –1 I would. Not only was the service horrendous, the food was awful and made me think of driving straight to the ER for my impending fate. Thankfully, that did not come to pass, but I wouldn’t test Lady Fate twice. Just go somewhere else. There are several great sushi options in OKC(I know, I’ve frequented many) there’s no need to go here.

A friend and I went there for dinner one night. The sushi was good but way overpriced. But I am writing because of the horrible service. My friend paid for the meal and checked through the tip slot on the receipt because I had told her I would cover the tip. Before I had a chance to put cash on the table, the lady said something like«why did you come to eat if you aren’t going to tip». I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Terrible! For lunch they only offer bento boxes with a roll. Their«meat» dishes are served with rice only. I asked if I could have a bento box with«meat» instead of a roll. The answer? «We can’t do that». I was willing to pay extra but only received a rude response. My friend ordered a bento box with a roll and it was edible but he’s only had Japanese food twice. My other friend ordered 2 rolls. Definitely not worth the price! I ended up ordering the Spicy Teriyaki chicken(with rice only) that tasted like they used a sauce out of a bottle instead of homemade. I also ordered an appetizer of shrimp tempura. The batter was a little thick for«tempura» and the sauce was way too strong that it masked the shrimp flavor. A good tempura sauce is delicate so you can still taste the shrimp or vegetable. I will definitely not return to Sushi Hayashi. I was born in Hawaii and raised on authentic Japanese food.

Everything turned out as expected. Make sure you ask if the roll is deep fryed or cooked. Was misleading on menu. Overall I would come back.

Any of the bad reviews must have caught the owner on a wrong day. We’ve been in when she was in a grumpy mood, but she loves when we come in now. We always get the Oklahoma Roll and The Code 7 roll, after those we get something new to try that sounds good. It is ALWAYS well worth the money. We usually get 3 – 4 rolls and get out of there spending anywhere between $ 35 – 65. I’m from Texas and have been to many Sushi places in Texas and California… NOTHING beats this place.

The fire cracker was awesome. The guy at the sushi bar was excellent. He showed me the right way to eat sushi. I’ll be going back there again.

Great sushi! Walked in & placed a to-go order in person, had my food in 10 minutes. Friendly staff, great prices, will be back for more! I stuck with a «safe» sushi choice, California roll. Next time I’ll be more adventurous!

This place has the most legit sushi you can find in okc. I saw the reviews of taxes being done wrong or extras being added on the ticket, I haven’t noticed it, but if it’s true I can’t get mad at a locally owned restaurant that charges $ 5 more than the prices say. People are really complaining about ten percent of taxes instead of 8? Their prices for the quality of sushi is pretty damn good so I won’t complain about a two percent difference on my tab. My boyfriend looooves the yumi yumi. I love the sushi too but I do have one problem, the rolls are huge. Like I have to cut them in half and they are still pretty big. That could be a pro for people with big mouths I guess though. Service is a lot different than an American run business. They aren’t overly nice like we are, but that’s just the differences of cultures. So don’t take it personal if they don’t do small talk with you. Overall, this place is awesome.

This is the closest sushi place near me. They are also not cheap. However I believe you are paying more for better food. The fish here are thick and fresh. At least for Oklahoma standard. The rolls are interesting and the chef makes all the sauces himself. The food is very good and I am always full. The best thing here is the salmon sashimi. It’s the salmon belly and it’s very creamy! The only place in okc to even be able to get such quality.

Great local spot and super fresh fish. Always enjoy sitting at the sushi bar. Grill items are good as well. Sesame chicken is my kids favorite

Worst sushi experience ever. The sushi chef was very friendly and was trying to understand the roll I was wanting when the lady from the front rudely interrupted & after I explained what I wanted informed me that would be a $ 20 roll back in KC it’s $ 13. After that she basically forced me into a rainbow roll. Not what I usually get when I order one. Needless to say $ 30 later I left feeling bullied.

I loooove sushi. & This place has some great tasting sushi. I come here to get takeout often. They have a wide selection of different sushis. All the kinds I try are amazing !! But with that said the service is lacking. Mainly why I get it to go!

Just like other reviewers, I got ripped off here. Charged me for miso that I never received, charged $ 4 more for a roll than what the menu said, charged me for more expensive nigiri since they were out of halibut, then charged over 10% tax. When I told lady(yes, the one up at the front that is rude to everyone), she only took $ 1 off for the miso and then rang my credit card up without confirming the final amount. Just ridiculous. The sushi here is decent. Portions are all over the place and difficult to eat. Fish was just ok. Be sure to check your bill if you come here though!

I am not a sushi fan, but my friends are. I had the chicken teriyaki salad edamame and miso soup. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was really good! My friends really loved their sushi! By the way! :)

Sushi Hayashi is a hidden gem of delicious, tantalizing, you’ll-come-back-again sushi! If you live in southside OKC/Moore/Norman, this is most likely more closer(and quite possibly more delicious) than Sushi Neko, Musashi’s, & Tokyo Japan. Pros: speciality sushi(I don’t do cream cheese in sushi, though, so I can really judge based on those), atmosphere, Japanese beer, romantic date night spot Cons: service(though it has gotten progressively better, and the sushi honestly makes up for it), price & wait(but what good quality sushi isn’t expensive and doesn’t take a while?) See below for longer review. My absolute two favorites on the specialty menu: rainbow roll & volcano roll. The rainbow roll is a simple California roll with 5 different kinds of fish on top. They must put some coating on the outside because it is unlike ANY sushi I have come across in OKC. It’s simple, filling, and will keep you comin back for more. The volcano roll is a baked crab roll with white fish around it topped with some sort of special sauce.. .thatll make you feel like you’re in heaven! This go around I also had the Saba Saba — chopped Japanese mackerel with masago & garlic sauce. I think the garlic sauce threw my taste buds for a loop and wasn’t really my thing. Had my friend eat up most of it. I stuck with my favs listed above :) The décor is just right, and the restaurant is lightly dimmer if you’re looking for a quaint, romantic restaurant you can go to with your partner. But, here’s something I think most regulars know: the lady at the front desk, who I assume is the owner, has a bit of a tough exterior. She has gotten significantly better at her social skills with customers, though. Also the wait can be a bit long.. .but hella worth it. Even with the cons, I’m still go in this place a 4⁄5(wish I could give a 4.5). Just trust me on this one! For sushi smack dab in the middle of OKC, I’m quite doubtful you can find a place that rivals Sushi Hayashi.

I always try to leave positive reviews… but… just couldn’t on this one. Sat at sushi bar at lunch on a Monday. miso soup was typical. Ordered the Beverly Roll with brown rice. Only 4 pieces for $ 11.95, and it was another $ 1 for brown rice. The brown rice was very dark in color — almost like it had been seasoned with lots of soy sauce to make it brown rice? Still couldn’t figure it out. I left feeling jipped and with a $ 15 bill… and still hungry.

I love how Sushi Hayashi is so close to me! I usually go on a Thursday Friday or Saturday and order the salmon or super white tuna sashimi along with a random specialty roll. I haven’t experienced any issues with the sushi or the owner this year. The food has always looked beautiful and tasted good. I will say though when they first opened I think 5 years or so ago the food was not great like it is now. I suggest if you haven’t gone to Sushi Hayashi in a few years give it a chance, because I too was not going to ever return but now I’m so happy I did because it’s my favourite sushi place in OKC minus the odd fast food looking like atmosphere. Also, I will add that I have never had any issues with the lady that works there, she has never even spoken to me so, maybe all the reviews have changed her attitude =D
