Great find near Bricktown! LOVED the signature salad(mixed greens, candied nuts, pears, dried fruit, cheese, and a strawberry dressing). The server was great too. The menu had a pretty big selection of Mac ‘N’ Cheese so I’ll have to try that next time. Definitely will be going back!

It was pretty empty when I went but who cares. The signature salad which I added salmon to was great. I tried both the balsamic and strawberry dressings. Both are house made and great. Iced jasmine and peach green tea was tasty. It is fairly up there in price once I added the salmon, $ 21 for salad and tea, but since it’s organic and I’m on a business trip and get to expense it I didn’t mind.

3.5 stars Went for dinner on ½ price mac n cheese night. Co-workers said the mac n cheese was great and not over cheesed. Very big serving size. 6 different varieties. I had the soup and salad. Everything was great. The«bowl» of soup is like a serving dish! Turkey meatballs were also nice and tender, melty. One note, what is it with OKC«fancier» restaurants serving salt in a bowl with a spoon? Kind of unsanitary/unwieldy…

Cute place. I had the avocado shrimp scallop salad. Not alot of shrimp scallops or Avacado. I know its because it’s expensive. Met my expectations. I’d go again.

Sage is a wonderful place for lunch or dinner. We started off with the Pan Fried Green Tomatoes — delicious! Not like my grandmother’s fried green tomatoes but maybe a bit on the healthier side and had a great dipping sauce. I tried the Grilled Portobello Sandwich, WOW, that was better than I expected — have been craving this sandwich ever since. Prices are reasonable for organic items. Service was fantastic, she told us about upcoming events and specials at the restaurant. I will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Went for brunch on a Saturday in July and it was pleasantly uncrowded. Service was friendly and attentive and this being our first meal in OKC, we were charmed when the waiter told us, «I’ll be y’all’s server.» Did not yet know that was commonplace. Bloody Marias were so so. The food was completely mixed. G had the special which was a fancy Benedict. He was in LOVE with it and drank a Belgian style beer with it that apparently was the best food — beer pairing ever. I had salmon croquettes. They were bland and served over dry(no dressing) wilted bagged greens. I ordered a fruit side and got old grapes and pineapple. Seriously, the grapes had that mildew taste of way too old to serve. Very disappointing.(I was redeemed in the fruit department the next morning at the Museum Café.) There were very few other patrons but the ones who were there were moms with a lot of very little screamy kids who liked to bang the silverware etc. Not my favorite way to spend brunch. I hate to give two stars based on one experience and if I lived there, I’d probably give it another chance.

Sage is a great little neighborhood café with live jazz on the weekends. I had a hot roast beef and cheddar sandwich that was very good. Staff is friendly as well. Very surprised by the middling reviews here!

We visited OKC in a cross country road trip and had a snack at the Sage. The staff was really friendly(it was almost 100 degrees and they offered us «to go» water cups!), and the appetizers were had were fairly good. The turkey meatballs were delicious, and the fried green tomatoes and the hummus/chips were servicable. The margarita I had was terrible. Too sweet, completely from a mix, badly concocted. But I would go back for snacks — esp at happy hour when everything was just around $ 4!

I stopped in at the well known Sage in Deep Deuce recently on a quick lunch break. This is a very cute café located on a corner, with a downstairs bar and seating and more seating upstairs. There are lots of windows downstairs letting in plenty of light. The big thing on their lunch menu that seems the most popular is the mac and cheese combination that comes with a Waldorf salad. I ordered this, with my mac and cheese selection being the shrimp and pesto. The mac and cheese was very tasty, not spectacular but good. This restaurant uses the«curly q» type noodle instead of elbow which is good because it holds the sauce together more. The shrimp was cooked correctly and the noodles al dente. The only losing piece on the plate? The Waldorf salad. I think I am a bit spoiled because my mother makes an amazing Waldorf but this salad was definitely below average. The fruit was covered in a runny mayo sauce that had zero flavor. C’mon Sage you can do better on this! Sage offers a tiny market with many organic items, something that seems to be rare in OKC(but hey, Whole Foods is coming soon for the first time to this area) so this is nice for the locals to have some options in the meantime.

The staff was friendly and the location is nice. I got the salmon which was awful. My wife got something vegetarian which she said was nice. I expected more for the price.

I’ve heard that it’s overpriced but thought people were just being persnickety, I don’t mind a pricey lunch if the food is delicious but it just wasn’t, I had the sliders and my husband had a sandwich and we were both disappointed. The food was boring and it lacked flavor. All of my sliders were much to big to really be sliders and they were all overcooked(the crab cake was a tasty exception but huge). My husbands sandwich was dry and bland. I will say I ordered what I expected them to be good at,(sandwiches with fresh ingredients) but upon reviewing people’s mac and cheese and smothered open faced sandwiches I realized I should have gone there thinking heavy lunch not lite lunch, then maybe I wouldn’t have been so disappointed. (sidenote: I’m not sure I understand why the word«market» is in the name all I saw was a bakers rack with a few ingredients for sale. I was thinking something like what Market C has or Forward Foods, but this is not the case.)

I have eaten at the café and ate their food at their booth at the OKC art festival. At the café: I had cupcake which was nothing special, and I was not impressed. At the booth: I had their mac-n-cheese which was decent, but I expected more flavor. My cousin was raving about this place, and I have heard a lot of buzz about this place. It just didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion. I got the impression that this is one of those cafes where you go to be seen, and spend money for food that isn’t worth the price. Our server was very nice and friendly though.

I’d heard so much about Sage restaurant and the Deep Deuce neighborhood revival from family members and was looking forward to the day when we would try it out which had been during a visit last week. My siblings and I took Mom out for a little family dinner. I didn’t know what kind of place it was as far as it being a casual or fancy place. Answer: it’s casual. On one side is the small, dark bar area, big flat-screen TVs for watching sports, and a few tables for dining. On the other side, there’s a brightly-lit café-bakery with a couple of table booths. We were offered to be seated upstairs, a real misnomer, it’s only five steps up to the café. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed about my dining experience at Sage. I ordered gorgonzola and roast garlic mac n’ cheese for my main dish and I found it to be less than impressive. It was extremely salty; I like gorgonzola very much but expected to taste something besides that. Perhaps that was an over-expectation from me; I habitually use herbs to season my own mac ‘n cheese and I guess I expect others to do the same. I have to include though that my little bro’ went crazy for the regular mac ‘n cheese. I felt that the service was amateurish. The cleanliness of the kitchen gave us all a concern when we saw a waitress go into the kitchen and then manually handled plating potato chips, but never were sure that she even washed her hands. That’s a huge no-no in my family. Cleanliness in the kitchen is a family neurosis and that episode will probably prevent most of us from returning. The waiter completely missed my cocktail order and didn’t tell us the specials until we had asked. He seemed to be either forgetful, nervous or just plain inexperienced with waiting on tables. Water glasses were provided only after I asked. It wasn’t a busy night, but maybe this is just a result of this being a new-ish establishment.

First trip here was decent. Inattentive waitstaff and really loud late 90’s techno musak that created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The salt bar is a nice touch but the server was either not interested in receiving a tip or had no idea about what she was serving. The food was fresh and overall well prepared aside from an under cooked and tasteless potato salad and white rice that was unseasoned and inedible. I think this place will be successful if they keep to their initial mission of local and organic but if they start to waver… there will really be nothing that separates them from any other okc café.

Edit: The front-end manager Emily has contacted me to explain that they do indeed have highchairs! Evidently our waitress was either not aware of this, or didn’t feel up to getting one for us. So, due to Emily’s personal contact and explanations, I would revise my critique to a three out of five stars. The service might be hit or miss, and the food might be hit or miss. It might take more than one time at Sage to find your zen. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – I had high hopes for this place. I was disappointed. First off, I wouldn’t normally complain about what I’m going to mention, but I would point you to the restaurant’s high points at the top portion of the page — where it says«kid friendly». This is patently untrue. I don’t have issues with restaurants not being a family-type place, that’s all well and good to cultivate that kind of thing. But don’t tell me you are kid friendly and then not have a single highchair in the entire restaurant. That’s just mean. Also, even if you were cultivating that«no kid» atmosphere, would it kill you to have at least one highchair on hand for emergencies? There are really nice modern-looking ones that won’t clash with your«mood». Maybe if we’d had a highchair my little one wouldn’t have had to be corralled in the booth with us and left your window all smudgy. Secondly, the food. Not exactly as good as I was expecting. For the price and the theme of this place I was expecting really great fare. Instead it was so-so. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes, Beer Cheese Soup, and Shrimp Pesto Mac & Cheese. The fried green tomatoes were… meh; and the accompanying buttermilk sauce was tasteless. But I won’t totally fault them for that, the competition for my fried green tomato taste buds is stiff, my grandma makes kick ass ones. The beer cheese soup was too salty, but otherwise ok. The shrimp pesto mac & cheese is the most expensive variety of mac & cheese that they make, you would expect maybe more than four medium sized shrimp in that huge bowl. Also you might expect pesto sauce to not be bland — not at Sage. The up side was that we mixed the beer cheese soup and pesto mac & cheese in our to-go box, and it was lovely! *lol* The service we had was good enough. No problems there. The place does look nice, has a modern hipster chic to it, and feels like it comes by that atmosphere honestly. I don’t really know how you can refer to this place as a market though, not very many things on sale. What they do have is so niche market I can’t imagine they move very many items off the shelves very quickly. I suppose sourcing«gourmet» organic is a bit difficult — very small available market of products there. *Edited to add: Now it says it’s not good for kids because I voted it that way…*

We love this restaurant on the weekend for brunch and during the week of great salads at lunch and free range meats and fish in the evening. Everything is fresh and delicious. They are famous for their mac n’ cheese, which is definitely hearty and rich. They have a nice range of organic beer as well. I hope they keep their pledge to buy local and organic when ever possible(I know it’s hard in OKC so I admire them for this). The market next door is pricey and too small for packaged goods, but we still like to go for their rich cupcakes… A definite winner in OKC!

I am surprised this place only had one review! I was looking for somewhere close to downtown(hotel) that had fruit. I found Sage on Google maps. It’s about a 20 minute walk from downtown in a restored building in the Deep Deuce area. The staff was very friendly. I had a pint of local brew(Coop) and a chargrilled chicken salad. The salad was good and I even gave the salt bar a try(interesting but would make more sense to order if there are a few people to share it). The mac & cheese combinations and the cupcakes looked yummy! I was a little disappointed they didn’t have more fruit(like peaches and bananas) but the nice dining experience and walk compensated for my disappointment in the fruit selection.

Not many places can you go in Oklahoma City and get a good seared Ahi tuna sandwich. This is one of them. A lunch date took me here yesterday and it wasn’t what I expected. The market is TINY and the bar is HUGE. You can sit outside under the sprayers or inside in long booths. The mac & cheese is Gourmet and to die for. They did a great job with this place, but should add some more fresh fruit to the menu and in the market.
