**WEDNESDAYMARKET** I haven’t been to the Saturday market, but I’m sure it’s a bit more lively than the middle-of-the-week market. There were a few vendors on this particular Wednesday. Some sold produce goods and a sprinkle of the vendors were selling home-made foods and products. There was also a cute little cooking demonstration involving peach ice cream. It was very good, by the by. I’m a terrible person and didn’t tuck away the names of the farms and other vendors I bought from, so that will have to in an update or review edit next time I go. They were all very nice and informative, though, so no worries there! I ended up buying mixed color green beans and blue potatoes from one farm, some hand-made soap from another vendor, and a little baggy of chia cookies from someone else. The prices are a little higher than if you were to go to somewhere like Sprouts. I was a little surprised by this since it’s «farm to you». So it’s not a place I could by my weekly produce at. More like when I want to treat myself.

I’m thrilled that there is a Farmers Market on this side of town; I’m even more thrilled with the fact that they are remaining open during the fall and winter months. They have a variety fresh foods, seasonal produce, certified organic products, and a variety of handmade skincare and craft items, there is something for everyone. Belle Kitchen has a booth there… and everything moves very fast. So if you have a craving for their hibiscus donut, get there early. There is always a nice selection of seasonal produce, beef jerky, beef, chicken, lamb, pork and more. Vendors vary their offerings based on the season. Summer months yield a greater selection, but don’t discount the fall offerings. It’s indoors during the fall/winter and is a nice change of pace from the grocery store.

Had the pleasure of attending Market today. Just moved to OKC from California where I myself was a Farmers Market manager for 2 local markets. This is an incredible market and it’s obvious the manager Hallie works hard and takes the farm to fork, fresh food initiative to heart! She was very welcoming and we talked«market» speak. Got some delicious local veggies, milk, eggs, cheese and fruit! Can’t wait to go back :)

I arrived ready to shop and was told loudly(and rudely) that I had to leave because I had a dog. My 10 lb. dog was in a puppy pouch on my chest. I have gone frequently to the Farmer’s Market in Edmond and never had any problems, so it was disapointing to find that this market is NOTDOGFRIENDLY. Thankfully, there are other choices.

I’ve been going here for years, and have gotten to know the proprietor a little. When she explained to me that she visits the vendors and makes sure that all their wares are locally grown, I was sold. It is a great place to roll into on a Saturday morning. See lots of fun people and every week is a new adventure in flavors. I always wish I cooked more so I could take advantage of all the amazing offerings, all from the growers themselves. If I have questions, they have the answers. It’s great.

As far as produce selection there were more leafy greens than fruits. I was disappointed to see the fruit as expensive or more as organic is sold in the higher priced health food stores. I like to support farmers but I also like to get a deal by cutting out the middle man so to speak. So since I wasn’t looking for meat I left empty handed. I did come across a vender selling wooden toys that caught my eye. Market was packed, I am glad to see the interest in farmer’s markets in Oklahoma. They also had a juice truck out front. I give 2 stars for it being available, it just isn’t the market for my needs.

Wow! I was so impressed with this farmers market. I have heard about it for a while now, and finally checked it out with my grandma and my boyfriend this past weekend. It will definitely not be our last time here. We went searching for small cucumbers for pickling and found them right away, but stuck around to see what else was there. I got a scone for breakfast, and we ended up also getting some green beans, onions, peaches, bell peppers and some red peppers labeled«hot peppers»(good enough for us!). Besides the fact that all the vegetables looked so fresh and bright and gorgeous, it was very inexpensive. We spent about $ 25 on all our vegetables, which included about $ 12 worth of pickling cucumbers. I can’t wait to come back throughout the year and see what’s in season and what this market has to offer.

What a gem! I’m so happy this place exists and I believe a person could sustain themselves by shopping here on most weeks with wonderful produce and local food stuffs at fair prices. I am a hobby gardener, so one thing I enjoy are the many varieties of heirloom tomatoes offered at the Farmer’s market. I’m not sure why there aren’t food trucks in the parking lot, though, because this place is packed with people who love fresh and local food and arrive early in the morning to get it. Coffee and breakfast burritos would be a wonderful addition.

If you can do one thing for me this weekend, please go to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning. As a gardener and grower of food stuffs that someone like you might eat, this place is a must visit for all of your local fruit, veggie, and meat needs. The Farmers Market also carries some neat odds and ends, spices, honey, hot sauces, and various flowers. The prices are fair and the farmers and gardeners are extremely courteous. I always enjoy my time there and am constantly finding new things to try out. And for those people that wonder if there is organic food at the Farmers Market, I can assure you that there is. I talked with one farmer in particular from Wheatland that only uses organic fertilizer and never sprays for pests. As far as he is concerned, if you buy an ear of corn with a little worm in it, that’s his«organic» label. So, go check out the Farmers Market and support your local farmers!

This farmers market is hit and miss. My wife and I opted to try it out a few times because we’re sick of the grocery stores never having RIPE tomatoes, or veggies that are flavorful and fresh. I can honestly say, when they’re a hit, you will have the most amazing, juicy and fresh produce. The tomatoes are bright red(not faked with pink-hue lighting and sprayed with reddening agents to trick you into buying a white-centered flavor-void tomato like supermarkets often do. The trade off? You’re paying $ 2.75−3.50 a pound instead of the supermarket’s $ 1 – 2 a pound. WORTHIT. They had cantaloupes recently for less than $ 3 each, about a quarter more expensive than my grocery store, and my god, the juice and flavor was unmatched. WORTHIT. However, there are some«miss» weeks. I’ve been there and only half the tables have produce. The last couple times the tomatoes looked unripe; yellow, light red, bruised, tops appeared cracked. I’m not sure what’s going on environmentally, but the tomatoes have been less than amazing, prompting me to risk the supermarket.(no point in paying twice as much for tomatoes if its’ not ripe.) Some weeks they just don’t have what you want: last time I was there they didn’t have broccoli or cantaloupes, and the tomatoes weren’t ripe. Also, they only allow CREDITCARDS on purchases greater than $ 5. So if you don’t have cash, and they don’t have at least $ 5 worth of stuff you want to buy, you’re out of luck.

First experience with the Farmers Market was awesome! There are tons of farmers present with all types of things for sale from veggies to salsas and spices. You absolutely cannot find fresher produce than this. With good prices and supporting local farmers, I enjoy coming to this market. Good stuff sells out quickly so don’t want ’til the end to come. Early bird catches the worm!

My Inner Hippie is Happy. This is my new favorite spot on Saturday morning. As a recent convert to organic food, I’ve been searching the web for the best spots in OKC and this market goes to the top of the list. Not only are they in a convenient location, but they have a great selection of organic meats, cheeses, tons of veggies and even homemade soaps and crafts. In addition to organic versions of the usual supermarket fare, there are numerous items you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere. I saw duck eggs, buffalo steaks(having one for dinner btw), heirloom tomatoes, fresh Asian veggies/herbs like lemongrass, artisan bread, cheeses and other stuff I’ve never heard of. Best of all they are locally grown, and I believe all offerings are produced without pesticides, steroids, chemicals and other nasty things which can cause three-headed babies and a fondness for Justin Bieber music. As another poster mentioned, some vendors take cash only, but the majority seem to have credit card capability. Prices are very reasonable on veggies, especially considering how fresh and tasty they are. I plan to shop there every weekend I’m in town for my veggies and the occasional organic steak(the meats are kind of pricey). Overall a fun place with excellent selection and quality.

A local jewel, and favorite in my book! Whether you have a green thumb, or you just enjoy fresh greens, this is the perfect place to pickup some cool stuff. I like to garden, so I typically go here for the locally grown plants. They have a number vendors there that have an impressive assortment of flowers, herbs and vegetable plants. They also have local cheese, meat, eggs, and honey from all over the great state of Oklahoma! This place typically makes my morning better when I drop by after an early morning at work. One thing to remember here is that you need to have cash, because a lot of the vendors don’t take credit cards. I’m not sure about all of them, but those that I frequent do not. I suggest that anyone who has an interest in locally grown goodness, or an amazing variety of veggie plants, to give this place a try.

Normally, I roll out of bed around 10 a.m. and laze around the house on Saturday before I get dressed and make my way to my favorite brunch spot. However, I’d like to make the farmers markets a regular part of my routine. No grocery store can ever compare to picking out your own fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses, and talking to the people that grew them. Farmers markets are also a great place to meet a few of your neighbors and feel like you’re part of a real community. I didn’t do a price-by-price comparison, but a lot of the fruits and vegetables seemed cheaper to me, especially because I’m only shopping for two and a lot of grocery stores bundle vegetables for families of four. Many of the market vendors let you pick out just what you want and no more. I was excited to see Yang Farms, which had a fresh variety of vegetables like bok choy, Napa cabbage, Thai basil, and Yu Choy. There’s a vendor that sells lush, purple orchids in the front of the pavilion. I wanted to buy one, but I didn’t for fear of killing it in a couple of weeks.
