I really really enjoy a johnnies burger. I think it is because they load it up with cheese. I have tried to replicate this at home but it doesn’t turn out as well. I guess I will have to buy some johnnies sauce to get closer to the real thing. Come have a burger with me and we can split an order of fries and onion rings!

For being a legendary burger joint there’s a few things you should be aware of for example the cheese is a fistful of grated not melted cheddar cheese and the bacon should have been completely cooked, rather than limp half fried fat. $ 6.79 is not a high price until you add a small bag of home-cut fries for $ 2.99, and everybody charges two bucks for a glass of tea. I prefer crispy bacon & fries so this is my only complaint. The portion size was big enough, make your own opinions.

Super meh. It’s a good burger but better can be had and the onion rings we’re over hyped. Solid 3 stars.

I believe that this is a local group of burger restaurants. Their burgers do have a stronger charbroiled flavor than most, it makes the burger more enjoyable than most. The french fries are standard greasy mess you get most places. The onion rings are real homemade onion rings and not the flavorless frozen crap most people serve. In my opinion, the reason I go back is really when I want to eat onion rings. They have Coke and Coke Zero.

The burgers are consistently good if you like the charbroiled style burger. The also have Coke products and decent sweet tea. I give them 4 stars because the burgers and onion rings are always delicious.

Heres the deal — the food is FANTASTIC and this place often goes over looked because it’s been deemed the«elderly place to go». However, the employees are — simply put — rude. I encourage you to come in with high expectations for great food and low expectations for great service.

Three stars mainly because I felt guilty because it’s a burger joint and I don’t eat hamburgers,. I hade the ham and Swiss and it was everything I could expect out of a ham and Swiss. The seating is less intimate than I remember from YEARS ago. Staffing was fine for a seat and serve yourself establishment. I guess the only complaint is, can we get some plates? My mother requested this place for a pre-mothers day meal and her burger and fries came in a wrapper on top of a joint tray for the table. Meaning no plates. Made eating difficult, no place to spread ketchup unless you rip open the burger wrapper and place it there. I don’t know if this is a theme but it was a bit annoying. However the food was great and no complaints there.

In the past I looked at this as one of the better burgers in the metro. Not so anymore, well at least this time. I think I could have went to BK and got a whopper and been more satisfied. Oh and paid less. Going to give it a 3 because I have had better here. If this were my 1st time in I doubt I would be back. As well the onion rings that I usally love were just lackluster this time. I think they had be sick under a heat lamp for a while. Booo not the Johnies I remember. Guess it is hit or miss now. I won’t be hurting back here but will give this place another try in the future and hope this was just a bad day.

The absolute best burgers! Every thing is delicious. Onion rings, fries and a cheeseburger please. Never ever disappoints. Been eating here for 10+ years and it’s just as amazing every single time! Can’t be beat

Huge fan! Great char-broiled burgers, HUGE fries and MASSIVE onion rings. The service is quick, price is right and of course, the food goes a long way! For a nice, quick, sit down, quiet meal — this is the place. The atmosphere has always been cozy and the food has always been good. It is a sit down restaurant, you place your order, wait a few minutes, they call your name, then you pick your order up. Good food for the price…

Caesar burger and onions rings were my favorite things about this place, but quality has gone down hill in the last few years. Last few times I’ve been, the burgers were very dry and once the patty was cold. Better value can be found at 5 guys burgers.

I’m Not from here(from San Antonio & Dallas), but came across it as a local fave. I read through the reviews here on Unilocal and was almost discouraged, however, I decided to try it since all of the locals seem to love it or at least used to love it. I decided to try their new 40a burger that won a taste contest, and I would highly recommend it with a side of Johnnies sauce. It comes with jalapeños, pickles, real ranch, and one large fried onion. I added tomatoes. Get the 40a burger JUST like this, you’ll thank me later.

Best burgers in town! Share the fries unless you are a professional eater! My wife loves the Theta, I prefer the Caesar Burger. The salad on the burger is enough to take to the side and have a side salad. The shakes are so thick you will think you stepped back in time to the 50’s when they knew how to make them… or so I hear!

Went here with my husband on 10⁄18 because I got a gift card and we hadn’t ever been there before. We were extremely disappointed. I’ve heard several people talk Johnnie’s up and it was such a let down. We both got the #19 Bacon Burger, he got onion rings and I got fries with cheese and bacon. Our burgers were mediocre at best, the cheese was hand shredded and not even melted at all. The onion rings had NO flavor whatsoever and my cheese fries were unseasoned and the bacon was incredibly tough because it had been fried so long. My cheese fries were just put in the microwave, I saw them take the fries out of it. The food was almost $ 30, thank goodness I had a gift card because I would have been upset if I had to pay that much out of pocket for that sort of food. We decided to split a piece of the chocolate crème pie and even that wasn’t very good. It looked absolutely delicious, but looks were definitely deceiving. The chocolate was very watery and had no flavor, in fact, we ended up with most of the chocolate on the plate rather than our mouths. It was just a very disappointing visit, I even wrote to their corporate about how awful it was. I still have yet to hear a reply from them.

It’s just a dressed up fast food place. The onion rings taste chalky, I don’t see what the big deal is. The homemade chips were OK when they were hot, then after cooling off they tasted like a55. Fries/chips/rings/drinks are all ordered a la carte so you can get up to $ 10 real fast for lunch… that is just like fast food… but its fancy looking inside… nope.

Get the bacon burger(#19) and dip it in their heavenly ranch dressing(I could drink it, that’s how good it is). You will not be disappointed. Their banana cream pie, French fries, and their salads are a home-run too!

Good #19(Bacon Cheeseburger). They use hand shredded cheese. The onion rings are off the charts… But today I had the fries… They’ve changed the fries a lot! They use to look like hand cut fries, now they just look like box box fries straight from the bag to the fryer. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t horrible, but they are vastly different than what I was accustomed to from Johnnies! All in all it was good.

Highly overrated. I’ve been to Johnnie’s a great many times, including multiple special events in which my family booked their private dining room. This place is essentially a Carl’s Jr. with more comfortable seating. Likes: The food has some flavor, which is always a huge plus. They do have a decent private dining room with a low price tag. The onion rings are okay. Dislikes: Food is greasy as hell and WAY overrated. The burgers have tiny patties compared to places like Interurban and Red Robin, and the options kinda suck. You also pay the same amount for a smaller burger. The service is often fairly poor as well, and the seating is regularly dirty. Seriously, I’d rather eat at Carl’s Jr. and save $ 3 – 4 than eat at Johnnie’s. It’s nowhere near the same universe as some of the better sit down burger joints.

Johnnie’s is awesome! I always get the Bacon Cheeseburger with extra cheese. Their cheese is awesome. Nice and fast service and awesome burgers to boot. I’ve been going to this place since I was a little kid and its always been the same. I’d definitely recommend it for a weekend afternoon lunch spot.
