Growing up, I not only had a master seamstress as a mother, but I was involved in theater and whenever I wasn’t on the stage, I was in the costume department. I even originally went to school for Apparel & Textile Design. So let’s make this long story shorter & say that fashion is important to me. Fabric is one of my big weaknesses and I have quite the growing collection at home. Textures, patterns, colors and the potential for that fabric to become a new skirt, purse or throw pillow keeps me coming back for more. I ran across Fabric Direct(the largest fabric warehouse in Oklahoma) when I worked near it and decided to drop in one day on my lunch break. Located at the back of Thomasville(make sure you let the salespeople know that’s where you are headed), it is a wonderland you won’t find at a JoAnn Fabrics, Hancock, etc. Giant racks with rolls of gorgeous fabric create aisles upon aisles of possibility for my fellow fabric fiends. If you need to take a sample home, make sure you check the plastic tag holders hanging from the rolls first, or grab one of the salespeople that works at Fabric Direct and ask for them to cut you off a chunk. Some of the prices are going to be a little higher than you are used to at the standard fabric stores, but you will snag yourself some unique fabric to brighten up your wardrobe and/or home so it’s worth the extra dough. If you love fabric, this is a hidden gem you must explore for yourself!
