Harris Nature Center is lovely in the winter. There are great snowshoe trails that are well marked and you can cross country ski as well (although the trails aren’t specifically groomed for that — you’ll have to cut your own path.) In Jan/​Feb they have frequent ‘starlight snowshoe’ events from 6PM-​9PM where you can do the trails in the dark lit by moonlight and well-​placed garden lanterns. It’s a great event for families.
Snowshoe rental is super easy and VERY inexpensive (less than 5.00 I think?) and they also rent XC skis although I don’t know the cost.
