Probably my first or second experience with French cuisine as a teen. Suzanne does good, solid French –style interpretations of excellent food. The service and atmosphere are exceptional. Not haute, not classic, but it creates an interesting mixture of international bistro and French classic while staying close to a warm, relaxed feel.

We drive to Ojai just to come here for lunch. Call ahead they are always busy. They have the best chicken chili made with a touch of cinnamon added. It is terrific. Everything is always fresh and good.

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Make sure you ask to sit in the outdoor patio in the back…

We celebrated our twentieth anniversary at Suzanne’s. So glad we did. The food was amazing, the service was impecable and the ambiance was perfect. This may be our new anniversary tradition.

We’ve been going to Suzanne’s regularly for about 20 years. The food isn’t complicated, but it’s always terrific. Try the chimichurri marinated steak. It’s one of the best items on the menu. Suzanne’s staff are really special and always remember us

We ate here on a Saturday night recently. We had a great table on the patio right in front of the garden. The service was decent from our waiter with a rather heavy French accent. We loved the duck pâté. The shrimp wontons were good. The cambozola pork was a huge portion. The shrimp and shells were enjoyed by my wife. Save a couple minutes for a stroll through the garden.

While the dessert and drinks were amazing, the entrees and the service where a little lacking. I ordered the miso butterfish and my boyfriend got the branzino. The fish was good, but the sides were confusing. We were both served steam vegetables and white rice with out fish. And every other table, no matter what they ordered that I could see, got steamed vegetables with white rice. It felt like cafeteria food, and considering I paid 120 for the meal, I was not impressed. I also found bones in my fish, for which they graciously paid for one of my desserts. We were also seated at a table right near the server station so we could hear everything they were saying very clearly which was a bit distracting. I want to stress that the dessert and drinks were delicious. I got the cat nap with chocolate peanut butter torte and it was so good. We also got the fruit crumble which was also great. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. It’s too expensive for what you get.

Suzanne’s exceeded our expectations. The setting is beautiful — we were in the«back» patio, which is facing a beautiful garden with a fountain. Our waiter was prompt and very knowledgeable, and the food: Asparagus soup — no cream, no butter, and a perfect balance of asparagus and herbs Maiche salad — great. Could have used a bit less cheese, but still a winner Soft shell crab, beurre blanc sauce on rice — very good. Could have used a bit less lemon, but I’d order it again. Calf’s liver — Don’t usually order it, but the waiter recommended it, and he was right. perfectly cooked. When in Ojai, I’m coming back.

Overall good restaurant. Basic food but lovely ambiance. Beautiful patio seating. Called for a reservation and was told twice that we should be aware that there is a party 2 hrs after us.

Nice place — lovely garden, service is impeccable, wine list is amazing. For me… the food is good BUT nothing exceptional. With that said… we continue to eat at Suzanne’s when we stay in Ojai because the service, atmosphere and wine list are truly lovely. So here’s what we’ve ordered and recommend… — Crab & Corn Cakes — Mussels — Pork Medallions — really liked these — Grilled Lamb Chops — Miso Marinated Butterfish — delightful And that’s my two cents

Went hiking in preserve this morning and cleaned up. We called for lunch reservation(Saturday). Had great lunch — we split the delicious hamburger and the chicken salad. Had best table on edge of outdoor patio. The staff is most friendly, professional and helpful. Food is excellent and ended up bringing most of salad home. The fresh bread w salad was very good too.

Charming atmosphere. Excellent service. Really interesting cocktail menu. Had the French Brit and the Blood Orange Margarita… Started with escargot(excellent, not as good as my moms, but hey) and the Bouillabaisse was one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend this resturant.

Quality, taste, presentation and customer service… all five stars! This is literally the best restaurant in Ojai. I really have nothing negative to say. I filled up on soup and bread so my hubby ate most of my fish. But from what I recall, the fish and the lamb were absolutely delicious. I would definitely return. Great, wonderful, restaurant with a warm and intimate décor.

It’s hard for me to imagine anyone finding fault with this restaurant in other reviews. I have — quite literally — eaten in restaurants all over the world and have decided that Suzanne’s is one of my very favorites of any kind, anywhere. The food is creative, perfectly prepared and presented with art and passion. We took a party of six very experienced diners there last weekend and had one of the most terrific and tasty meals we could have hoped for. The ambiance is upscale country rustic. The service is superb; our waitress knew more about their specialty cocktails than most bartenders would know and made dietary-centric recommendations to every person at the table. It was a huge hit all around. One warning… don’t eat so much that you can’t fit desert! Theirs are fantastic all the way around but my favorite is their dark chocolate gelato. I’m a fanatic about the stuff and eat it wherever I can find it and this is the best of the best. We have gone to Suzanne’s every time we’ve been in Ojai and plan to start going there from our home(about an hour away) instead of some of the more expensive and less satisfying local places. I absolutely, completely and highly recommend Suzanne’s. This should be on every foodie’s list as well as everyone who just enjoys a great meal. The prices are reasonable — a little high compared to some lesser places in Ojai but far lower than snootier and lower-quality places we go to around L.A. Don’t miss it.

**** 4 Stars are my Highest Rating ****(because too many fake 5 stars) When you put your own name on a restaurant, you are effectively saying the food you serve is also the food you would eat. Such was Chef/owner Suzanne’s fine eye for artful presentation and her taste for subtle flavors that the lowly escargots became delectable, translucent litte objets d’art, and the commonplace roasted beet salad became a colorful ‘springtime-in-Ojai-Valley’ on a plate. The Bouillabaisse was immensely satisfying in its rich broth of flavors as deep as the ocean itself. The meltingly soft miso butterfish had to be the Shangri-La of Suzanne’s cuisine, where gourmet foodies find harmonious flavors and infinite happiness. The delightfully elegant dining room and rustic(enclosed) patio felt as warm and inviting as the charming village itself. Prices are surprisingly affordable(compared to L.A.) and the service royally outstanding. Ample parking lot.

We enjoyed great service and delicious food in a peaceful atmosphere. The Ruben Sandwich was nicely topped with house sauerkraut and pickled red onions, with a light touch of Dijon mustard. Our other plate was a perfectly prepared honey glazed Salmon on a bed of fresh greens.

Celebrated my friend’s birthday here. The outside was lit with pretty lights and there were still a few Christmas trees and bottles of Mumm champagne from NYE. Festive. We were seated in the patio area by a warm, cozy fireplace. The entire staff was professional, friendly and attentive. The soup, salad and entrees were flavorful. Maybe a tad bit on the salty side but good. The cherry apple crisp for dessert was delicious. Met Suzanne on the way out. Made us feel like we were leaving a home more than restaurant. Thank you, Suzanne for a lovely dinner.

Wow for everything!!! The patio is peaceful and beautiful, the service was tremendous, soft brazilian music playing and the food was incredibly fresh. My husband had the herb chicken which had a crispy crust with a juicy half chicken seasoned extremely well. I had the provecale frittata which was super flavorful with fresh tomatoes, zucchini and basil and cheese:). My daughter had the blt w/a fried egg that she liked very much. Then to top it off flourless chocolate cake with homemade ice cream and cherries– absolutely delicious!!!

Delicious entrees! I had a lamb in a berry sauce that was excellent. I definitely need to return to Suzanne’s, as it’s been a few years. I remember that the dessert was excellent as well but I don’t quite remember what it was, to be completely honest. When you dine, don’t forget to take a stroll in the garden. They have a lovely garden which includes some of the produce that they use in the restaurant.

What an exceptional dining experience and meal. We sat outdoors on the back patio and enjoyed the weather and had fantastic meal consisting of: Endive Salad with Procuitto Eggplant Tarte Bouillabaisse, Hearty Fish Soup In The Marseillaise Style Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp With Goat Cheese Stuffed Pasta Shells On A Bed Of Marinara Sauce Fresh Fruit Cheesecake Pineapple Gratinée — Fresh Pineapple With Mascarpone Custard, Gratinéed And Served With Coconut Ice Cream Everything was really fantastic and I would recommend every single item except the fresh fruit cheesecake which was just ok.
