Brad arrived 15 minutes late on the scheduled morning. He arrived with very dirty boots and when I asked him to either take off his shoes or put on some shoe covers he seemed very put out. He came into my living room where he promptly took out his phone and started blaring a broadcast with Rush Limbaugh. He started with hanging 2 curtain brackets, placing a heavy dirty ladder on the bottom of my white curtains(which I later had to have cleaned). When he was done, I noted that the curtain rods were uneven. He just said«Wow, you’re really anal» –and didn’t bother to straighten them out. He moved on to the bedroom where I needed him to hang another curtain rod(Rush still blaring in the background). This rail went up evenly, but when he strung the freshly cleaned and ironed curtains on the rod, he first set them in a pile of dust which was under the bed(we had just moved the mattress 15 min earlier to allow him access and had not yet vacuumed). He also left dirty smudge and pencil marks on the wall at the end of one of the rods and did not clean it up until I gave him a cleaner and a rag and asked he go back up on the ladder to clean it. He had done the same thing on the previous curtain rail in the living room(which I later had to clean up). He then moved on to the bathroom where I had him hang two custom mirrored cabinets. He did not put anything under them to protect them and ended up chipping the corner of one of them. He also scratched up my brand new toilet seat by stepping on it with his rough work boots(which had somehow lost the shoe protectors. I’d provided him at the front door.) When I said something about the toilet seat, he didn’t apologize– and seemed quite put out that I would say anything. He did not clean up the mirrors or any of the dust from drilling(which made a big mess) or even put the shelves back in the cabinets. Lastly, I asked him to hang a heavy wall sculpture outside in a stairwell used by several small children. I told him to be sure to use toggle bolts and not the small plastic anchors he had already tried to use for the bathroom cabinets. When I came out to check on him 20 min later, I saw that he had indeed used the plastic anchors which are rated at only 10 pounds to hang a 70 pound hanging! He said not to worry, it would hold, but when I tried, I could pull out his hooks out of the wall with one finger! In an effort to get things finished up safely and quickly, my husband stepped in to help Brad install the hanging with our toggle bolts. What usually takes my other handyman 10 min took almost an hour! Again, he left a huge mess on the floor of the stairwell and did not clean it up At this point we had had enough and decided to cut short our to-do list. I was so upset that I did not notice that he overcharged me by half an hour –including the 15 minutes he was late and not to mention the almost hour he took for the two hooks to hang the outdoor hanging! He did tell me to take off for the toilet seat, but now I have to re-order, pick-up, and install. Yesterday we had a security system put in throughout our property and even though the three guys were in and out all day to run the camera wire, cameras, etc, they never once made anything dirty and always took off their shoes when entering the house– without my ever saying a word. I think that’s what a good service provider does– they take care of the problem you hired them to do without creating new work or problems for you after the job is finished. I find it very hard to believe this is the same Brad Schmidt whose reviews I read. Something is really off here. In any case I would highly recommend staying stay clear of this company.

Called this guy, leaving voice mail and emails messages to get a quote on an approx. $ 1500 job. Did not respond for a week, then asked me to send him pictures of the job, because he was too busy to come out and give me an estimate. I sent him numerous pictures within 10 minutes of him asking, and NEVER got ANY kind of response. ZERO. This guy is a joke. If you don’t want to do the job, or are unable to, just SAYSO. Don’t waste peoples time and ask them to send you pictures and then just drop the ball and not follow up. There are so many COMPETANT, RESPONSIVE, RELIABLE handymen out there that charge way less than this guys $ 50 an hour(heck — you can hire a LICENSEDGENERALCONTRACTOR for that price) — there is no need to deal with someone as unprofessional as this.
