Great sushi, great vibe, a nice change of pace from the low quality food of boardwalk restaurants and a much friendlier price tag from the fancier restaurants on the strip. This place is very comfortable; the service is always friendly and fast, and it’s neither a formal venue nor a hole-in-the-wall space, but somewhere perfectly in the middle. Although on the smaller side, OC Wasabi rolls are fresh and creative(tuna with avocado and mango, mixed rolls with fried bananas on top), and they have«secret rolls» that aren’t on the menu(we recommend the Chip Roll with spicy shrimp and Sriracha! Delicious!) Surprisingly, they’re known for their steaks and shrimp fried rice. We recently ordered the shrimp fried rice wondering what could possibly be so great about something so simple and daaaaaang it was SO good! A plus: they’re open in the off season!

I was in town, visiting during the off season and my friend recommended we come here for dinner. We sat and ate at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. We ordered 3 rolls which were all great as well as some teriyaki tofu and fried rice. The food was excellent. My friend even ordered off of the«secret» menu, which is two specialty rolls crafted by the bartenders.

We had looked up reviews before eating here and we were so impressed by the reviews! I can say that the that the reviews are true and based on what is served there! The staff is super nice and very attentive. The tables are close together, but there is plenty of room to move and be comfortable. The craft beer selection is compatible to any other restaurant that serves craft beer. My fiancé was in heaven. There was a nice variety of local beers. They also have many different types of beer. The drink menu offers a nice variety of options for any one needing a cocktail. I had the blueberry mojito. It was definitely refreshing. The drink had fresh limes and fresh blueberries. None of that fake purée. We started out with the vegetable tempura. The vegetables included eggplant, onions, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. The vegetables were served with a soy/teriyaki sauce that complimented the vegetables. The batter was light and crispy. Definitely not greasy. Our favorite was the sweet potatoes. The sweetness of the potato added a nice contrast to the savory batter. We shared 3 signature rolls for our main dish. The fish was fresh and was cut well. We ordered the Dynamite roll, G Money roll, and the Ocean City roll. Each of the rolls had good qualities and there was plenty of food for the two of us. We spent about $ 87 on dinner plus 3 alcoholic beverages. We thought this was a decent price for 3 specialty rolls, an appetizer, and 3 drinks. The only note I have is the close proximity of the tables. This is something they can’t change due to the size of the restaurant. We will definitely return.

What a wonderful surprise! High quality sushi. Presentation was beautiful. The staff very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was packed, but no long wait(they move people in and out) — very efficient. I highly recommend!

We wanted a change of food scenery during our vacation. It was fairly busy for a weeknight. The menu was typical for an Asian Fusion restaurant. We got the Chicken Teriyaki(no brown rice substitute) with Miso Soup and three kinds of rolls. See pictures. Everything was good. They ran out of Fried Ice Cream so instead, we finished our meal with Fried Banana topped with Whipped Cream and Chocolate Syrup. It was equally delicious.

This place is okay for sushi but expected much better food after seeing the 4-star rating on Unilocal. The good: — Menu options. There are plenty of options to choose from — Prices. Pretty much average for sushi rolls($ 7 – 10 per roll) — Miso soup was fine The bad: — House Salad. The ingredients were good but their Ginger dressing needs some improvement. — Flavors. Everything tasted plain. I assume they need fresher ingredients. Overall, this is not a 4-star sushi restaurant. The flavors are muted and need improvement. Better sushi has been had at the Sakura Japanese Steakhouse chain restaurant.

Surprisingly good sushi for ocean city. Much better than expected. This is a great spot in a town full of average beach buffets. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a solid meal!

Awesome sushi. I wish there was one near where I live. I drove 60 miles out of my way to eat here. Kenny has come up with some truly awesome speciality rolls.

My first time in OCMD during July 4th weekend. We decided on sushi and to my surprise, I was able to make a reservation on the day and got seats for my time. The place was pretty packed when I walked in on a saturday night(holiday weekend) during dinner hours. The interior isn’t anything special, just an open space. The sushi and service all met my expectations. We ordered ALOT of sushi with quite a bit of appetizers. They did get one order wrong; however, was able to give us the correct order along with not charging us for the wrong order they put on our table. We had sashimi, about 5 rolls of sushi, fried rice, gyoza, and octopus salad. The fried rice was really good, probably one of the best that I’ve had. The raw fish tasted fresh as I would expect from the shore and to my surprise, the price on the menu was very reasonable. We also had 2 bottles of sake, the asian pear one was good as it was a little sweet. Of note is that the spicy tuna roll, they actually use tuna inside rather than blended mesh of tuna most places do. Also, their crab sushi uses real crabs which isn’t anything special I guess because I was in maryland but that was really tasty and authentic. Overall, an enjoyable sushi experience at the shore.

BEWARE: Server found me online and threatened me over tip! We weren’t greeted by anyone when we came in. We asked if we could sit by the window, and the girl who sat us rolled her eyes. Our waitress never introduced herself or told us her name, just asked us rudely what we wanted. We asked for a small thing of sake and received a large, and the waitress gave me attitude when I asked if that was the only size(as we’ve been coming there for years and have always gotten a smaller one). The waitress also never checked on us — not even to see if our order came out okay, or to see if we wanted anything else at any point. I was facing her direction and actually tried waving her over multiple times(my arms in the air and everything), but she was too busy talking to her coworkers, dancing, jumping behind the sushi line, and goofing around. The restaurant was EMPTY, so she certainly wasn’t busy — just careless. I ended up leaving said waitress with no tip, which, being a waitress myself, is something I have NEVER done before, but I was disgusted with her attitude, bad service, and lack of care for us as customers. She knew we weren’t happy, and instead of trying to better our experience, or get a manager that could, she just gave us lip and literally ignored us for the rest of our time there. It’s actually what our server did AFTER we left, though, that will make me never return to OC wasabi. She took my name from my credit card(now I’m questioning if she took my card number too, so I have to cancel it), and found me online and sent me an incredibly rude message threatening me over her lack of tip. She ended it, «I NEVERFORGET A FACE. KARMAISREALANDITIS A B.(She used the full curse word, but I will not write it on here.)» I did not respond to the waitress, and I will not name her here, because I refuse to stoop to her level. All this did was prove that she is rude, unprofessional, and out of line. Maybe if she took the amount of effort she put into finding and threatening me and actually put that into her work she’d get better tips to begin with. Regardless, as a waitress you are going to get bad tips sometimes but you can’t take it personal and take it out on your customers. I myself have had people leave me no tip before and yeah it sucks, but I have never gone out my way to find and threaten them. THEREISNOEXCUSEFORTHATWHATSOEVER. If you are going to eat there(though I advise that you don’t), make sure you pay in CASH because otherwise the staff feels entitled to saving your information and taking things into their own hands. I feel so violated and will never step foot in there again.

My party ordered 9 rolls and an order of salmon nigiri and fried dumplings. The dumplings and nigiri were both delicious and well presented. The sushi rolls on the other hand were rolled absolutely terribly. The quality of the fish and the presentation were both below what I would expect from a grocery store sushi stand let alone a sushi bar in OC. When we asked the waiter why the sushi was poorly rolled he said that their chefs might be in a rush. That being said I’ve been in much busier and more crowded sushi bars and never have I seen sushi this sloppy. I would try all of the other sushi restaurants in the area before coming back to give OC Wasabi another chance.

I was in Ocean City for a convention. My team and I were looking to get some dinner on a Saturday night. we originally tried to go to a Mexican restaurant but the wait was 45 mins and we were hungry. A nice gentleman recommended that we try thus place. I called to see if there was a wait. We got lucky with no wait, but we had to rush over there because the kitchen was closing at 9:30pm. Most of my team ordered sushi. I ordered a noodle dish(I forgot the name of it). It was good, but my favorite dish was the chicken fried rice. It was so flavorful and the chicken pieces were moist and tender. I really considered ordering a plate to go, but I was leaving thr next day. Our waitress was really nice and friendly.

RJ and I stopped here for dinner on Saturday. The waiter was very friendly, and the food was fabulous. I ordered a peartini with grey goose pear and saint germaine liqueur which was outstanding… and STRONG! We ordered shumai, gyoza, I ordered the OC roll with crab avocado, and asparagus, and RJ had the Key West roll with conch and I think the spider roll. They even substituted cucumber for him instead of avocado. For dessert we had a fried banana… YUM!!!

I would actually give this place 4 ½ stars, but since fractions are not available, and I don’t want to gyp the place, it gets 5 because when it comes to sushi in Ocean City, OC Wasabi is indeed as good as it gets. I attended alone on a weeknight in December. It was somewhat slow, but picked up as the night wore on. Parking for this establishment is in the back, not on Coastal Highway. The dining room seats about 50, not counting a small alcove in the front of the place where diners can sit Japanese-style. The sushi bar seats about 10. I was escorted quickly and pondered the extensive menu. There are many a la carte and combo sushi and sashimi options, along with a good cooked food menu(teriyaki and the like) and a diverse beer, wine, and sake list. Substitutions for various ingredients are available for a nominal charge. Since it was cold out, I selected a miso soup and two a la carte sushis, the Maria’s Purple Isle, which combines tuna, avocado and mango; and a serving of ikura(salmon roe), which is one of my litmus tests for good sushi. The food came right away. The miso soup, a dependable staple at most Japanese and fusion restaurants, had good flavor but not enough diced tofu for my taste, plus it wasn’t quite hot enough to warm me up. The nigiri and Maria’s Purple Isle were presented together on the same board, with carefully finger-molded wasabi on one side and a decent portion of pickled ginger on the other. The ikura nigiri was outstanding – perfectly fresh, with delicate sea flavor. I pondered getting a second helping, but thought better of it – gotta watch my wallet and waistline! Two nigiri are $ 6.00; a quail egg can be added for $ 1.75, but I passed on that. The Maria’s was also delicious, and a new flavor combination for me, with the almost-ripe mango providing a semisweet foil to the tuna and almost-ripe avocado, along with the soy sauce and wasabi I put on my rolls. I will definitely be getting this one again! I passed on dessert, since the only thing that appealed to me at the moment was ice cream, and I needed to stay warm. Total check came to $ 17.25 before tax and tip. A nice Japanese touch: the waiter handed me the menu and the check with both hands, the way Japanese businessmen hand you their business cards. I found that rather charming! By the way, the wait staff is all native speakers of English, although some of them are Asian. Asian-American, I guess. All in all, a great find in lower Ocean City. I definitely intend to return, and will bring friends here when they come to visit. Domo arigato gozaimasu, OC Wasabi!

Being of Japanese descent, this place is awesome! All dishes I’ve tried have quality ingredients and authentic flavors. The owner, Kenny greets and chats with the locals and customers and is very friendly. If you like to eat in a more casual environment you can eat in the lounge area. They have a great selection of beers — Hitachino and local Burley Oak. When you want something healthier than the board walk favorites this is a winner!
