Don Jose Rojo’s Tacos

I love this place! The only complaint is that they aren’t open on Sundays:(The enchiladas are amazing, and so are the burritos and fish tacos. The prices are great and the staff is always super friendly. I grew up in ocean city my whole life, so trust me when I say if your craving mexican when you are in OC go here. It’s definitely a local spot and only a few blocks from the boardwalk. I live in North Jersey now and can’t find any place like it up there.

We were heading to the Boardwalk with a hungry toddler in tow (not to mention our infant son who was a little cranky himself). We had passed this small storefront time and time again, but never stopped. This time around, we thought we should see what the fuss is about. I was very glad we did. The tacos was delicious and fresh, my son devoured his quesadilla, the service was awesome, and the price was very low… much less than we would have paid on the boards. I have a feeling this is going to be a regular stop…

I’m from Santa Barbara California where we have LOTS AND LOTS of Mexican restaurants. I work in the restaurant industry. I have been all over Mexico for weeks at a time. I was chosen to be a judge at a salsa contest. I believe I am well qualified to judge Mexican food. This is the real deal. Quite honestly I was surprised to find this level and quality of Mexican food anywhere in the state of New Jersey. I really was not expecting much. And although I hate to admit it, their fish tacos are on par with those in Santa Barbara. That is an enormous compliment. Order the fish tacos on corn tortillas and ask for the red salsa and the green salsa. I’ve been here a few times and have tried different items with the same results. Super impressive! This place is a MUST for us every time we visit OCNJ… even if it’s just for the day. we will stop in and get it to eat later. BEST burritos! Their pork is a MUST!!!

Deeeeeelicious. We got the fish tacos, beef tacos and a Carne asada burrito. The flavors were just what we craved. This is a truly welcomed change from the limited boardwalk menu of pizza, fries, and pizza. The salsa and chips were a complimentary side with each order. They were perfectly fresh and I could’ve eaten an order of just them. Can’t wait to go back.

Awesome spot! Can’t beat getting completely stuffed on $ 20.00 for to people in a beach town. The tacos de Camerones were really good! A tad too just cilantro but other then that incredible! Fresh avocado, and their salsa Verde was seriously tasty. My meal came with rice, 2 tacos, a handful of tortilla chips, refried beans and a little cup of salsa. Can’t beat it for $ 9.00 my. My boyfriend and gotten the pollo chimichanga! Was delicious and huge!!! I was even allowed a bite and I asked to switch meals because it was so good. Like I said his chimichanga was huge and he had a rough time finishing it. His meal also had rice, a handful of tortilla chips and salsa. Best post surf meal we have had in Ocnj by far! On another awesome note they have Mexican soda! And the service is awesome. Super friendly. Go and eat here!

Had the sopes and they were delicious! Authentic food, fast service, and pleasant staff.

This place is such a joke. They NEVER answer their phone. I am a local and it has kind of become a joke in our household that when we do order out we call this place first just to laugh at the fact that they never answer their phone.

Came here for dinner with my husband and 2 children while on vacation in Ocean City! I had the Shrimp Taco special and it was excellent. However, I do think the tacos were short on shrimp. I like that my meal came with retried beans and rice but my husbands fish tacos didn’t. I think the dinner meals should come with more than just 2 tacos and chips. I wouldn’t have preferred more hot sauces on the table.
These are small things but for the overall that’s why i didn’t give 5 stars. The food was excellent, we got the chips and salsa to start with and the chips were great and the salsa was excellent as well. The next time I’m in Ocean City I will definitely come back.

Outstanding in every way. We had 4 different entrees and each one was a «10». Expect a wait if you come at night as they aren’t the fastest but once your order goes in its only about 10 minutes (the line just runs slow). It’s great!

Yum is a great word to describe this little shack. I always get the nachos when I come because it’s hard to find quality nachos that are authentic and loaded with real ingredients. Try the tacos and the burritos for sure. They don’t skimp on size, so definitely come hungry. It’s a little cramped inside but I usually order take out anyway. But it’s a cute little place with great service and even better food.

My fiancé and I are first timers here in Ocean City. So when it came time to figure out where we would want to eat dinner our first night here we discovered a place just one block away from us. Rojos Tacos is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had. It is a casual place where you can go and sit outside. The food comes to you promptly and taste flawless. Everyone who works there is kind and courteous. We loved it so much we went back again today to have lunch there. I highly recommend the Mexican style tacos, the ground beef tacos, and their chalupas.

Ordered the vegetarian burrito. Very good and really big. Place was crowded but the staff handled it great! Def will go back and try the taco salad.

If you’re looking for fresh, authentic, delicious ingredients in a burrito or in any Mexican dish this place is a MUST. Their portions are beyond sizeable and never lose quality no matter what the size of the order is. All employees are accommodating and friendly. I recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

Who would have guessed that you would be able to find «homemade» authentic Mexican food in Ocean City? Not this guy… but I was more than pleasantly surprised by Rojo’s Tacos!
Their menu, expansive; the flavor dynamic; the atmosphere perfect… add in employees that love what do in a very fast paced environment and you are at Don Rojo’s Tacos on the corner of Ocean and 6^th avenue in Ocean City, NJ!
Great find after many years of «suffering» through over priced boardwalk food! I’ll happily make the 2 block walk off the boards to eat here everytime I visit OCNJ.
Today (6÷26÷15) is the last day of the OCNJ stay and we woke up planning on lunch and dinner at Rojo’s!!!

After seeing 4 stars out of 5, we thought we’d give it a shot. Absolute mistake.
The number 1 gripe, and alarmingly so, is the amount of WASTE this place generates in styrofoam usage. Everything is served on it. EVERYTHING. It completely goes against the ‘stop ocean pollution’ poster in the window.
I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos which were average at best. Usual serving is 3 tacos… I received 2, with additional tortillas to fill out the plate. Thanks.
My girlfriend ordered the Nachos. There was no accommodation to her pepper allergy. no asking if she’d like lettuce and tomatoes added. Fair enough, especially since the price got knocked down for it. HOWEVER, it was served with bulk nacho cheese, which is 99% comprised of butter. The actual shredded cheese was kept to a minimum. Big mistake if you are marketing your place as serving authentic Mexican. See the attached picture for epic fail.
Don’t eat here. The place is a waste generating fire hazard.
