This place was bad bad bad. It was overrun with flies. Like an infestation. The food/order was done incorrectly with a weird mystery meat. Worst meal ever.

Had lunch around 3. Went in during their lull. The owner couldn’t have been nicer! Sat outside, which was cute and clean. Started off with the crab corn chowder… excellent! Not too thick, not too thin… perfect consistency and seasoned just right. I ordered the shrimp & scallop sandwich. Great quality Seafood in a tempura like batter on a roll with a spicy ranch sauce. It was served with a tomato onion salad, which was absolutely delicious! Left with a homemade cannoli… also delicious! Everything was Very reasonably priced and for some reason, we had separate checks. Not sure if this is their norm, but if it is, it’s a nice touch. Sometimes it’s difficult if you are with someone who isn’t into splitting the bill in half and much time is wasted figuring out the check down to the penny! The owner was very personable and you can tell he really cares about the customer’s experience. Would definitely go again and would urge all to give it a try!

Stopped in for breakfast and was disappointed. The pork roll sandwich was too cheesy and the roll too doughy. The accompanying home fries were burnt. The coffee was disappointing too — from the bottom of the pot with flakes of pot scum. And the flies were very annoying. Recommendations: order the special omelet or pancakes or go across the street to the Sunrise Café for your breakfast, which is $ 4.95 v. $ 6.95 here.

Unfortunately, not good. Coffee was potent, but only because they used twice the grinds required. Ordered the Portobello omelet with onions and cheese. Eggs were burnt and the filling tasted like fried fish. Toast was not toasted. Service was OK. There was a sax player there that made for a nice atmosphere. But won’t be back.

Coastal Café is a new restaurant, happily for us just blocks from our house. We ate there yesterday for the first time — lunch with friends. We were all delighted with the food we ordered. Each meal was well prepared and exceptionally flavorful. We all felt that we got excellent quality for the price(very reasonable). One of us needs to eat gluten free, and there was no difficulty getting a GF option. As we left, each of us agreed that we’d certainly be back again. Highly recommended. Oh, and in terms of MGM review on 5/29, it’s clear that they’ve gotten a new(and talented) cook :-)

The place has good values for OC, decent foods and good service. It’s also clean, bright and cheery with white paper table cloth. The salads are served in a huge taco bowl. If the cook is reading this, the taco bowl is not needed. Diners ordering salads want a healthful, colorful and nutritious dish. We do not need it to be served on something fried and greasy. My shrimp salad was good. It could do without the fried greasy taco shell. The shrimp should be grilled not breaded. Add more colorful veggies and it would be perfect. This place has so much potential. Hopefully, it will lean toward clean, fresh eats.

We have been to Coastal many times at this point, most before the busy season(now, July). We have had a great experience with the wait staff, especially Kendra. It was great to have a new addition to the food offerings in OC, especially for dinner time when the choices are slim. They have some yummy and creative breakfast items on the menu and we enjoyed lunch and dinner as well. There are often specials on the board. Overall good experience and a go-to place.

Went for breakfast this morning. Had a very good overall experience. Egg, cheese and sausage sandwich on bagel was very good. Other entrée was eggs and sausage and we split the pancakes. Our server was very nice and friendly. It was not crowded when we went. Only negative was home fries weren’t very good and bacon a little overcooked. Would go back again

The place looks super nice and clean and bright. With tables inside and out. With a great location. The wait staff is wonderful. I’d give 5 stars for them. But overall a restaurant ends up being about the food. I’ve eaten here about 6 times for breakfast and for 1 lunch. Each time the food was disappointing. Why did I come back? The wait staff and the atmosphere. But as nice and cheery as they are, and bright and clean as the tables and chairs are, it’s not enough to overcome the food, at least not for me. They were looking for a new cook when I was last there two months ago. So to be fair, perhaps the food has improved. Try it yourself and you decide, but that’s my experience.

The place appears to be a cute little café to get a nice brunch on the outside, but its looks are deceiving. When you walk in, it’s like you’re walking into the middle of a dining room. There is no host stand or anything remotely close to looking like a host stand, or even a host standing there! We had to flag down a server to get the host for us. We asked if we could have the table outside that was yet to be bussed. She informed us that it would be about ten minutes because they were short staffed(in her own words because everyone that was working there was high school teenagers) even though the our table only had a cup of coffee and some cream and sugar on it. We waited outside and looked at the menu. After waiting a bit we watched the host clean off a table inside. When she went to seat us we had to reinform her that we asked for the table outside. She then quickly cleaned it off and sat us there. My friend and I each ordered the create your own omelette. My friend’s included cheese, mine didn’t because I’m lactose intolerant. Both of ours included the«tomato salsa» and«avocado.» I had to tell the waitress what type of toast I wanted as she was ready to walk away from the table, and also asked if I could have jelly. When we got our food, both omelettes had cheese in it. Wonderful. My friend’s plate also had two full slices of toast cut into four pieces, while mine only had one slice cut into two pieces. Cool. The waitress also forgot the jelly and I had to ask her for it. To top it all off the«tomato salsa» was just store bought salsa, and the«avocado» was just poorly made guacamole. You thought we would have gotten chopped up avocado too, right? It’s one thing if the service sucks, because you could attribute that to the inexperienced staff. But to falsely mislead customers on what they’re paying for clearly shows that whomever is in charge of this place clearly has no idea what they’re doing. Save yourself the trouble and put up with a long wait at a more established restaurant.
