Our family loves the food from boyar’s, & we’ve been shopping there during the summer season for years. The customer service is beginning to go down hill. There are now workers at boyar’s that present a bit of a language barrier while ordering. The regular staff is beginning to get testy. They were out of their antipasta salad before lunch. When we got home, I thought I should call & reserve some to take to a casual dinner party tomorrow night. A woman with a New York accent answered the phone & to answer my question she snapped«I don’t know, honey, we definitely aren’t making it today». She repeated this a couple of times. So I said«ok-so does that mean there will be none for tomorrow?» She then says, exasperated, «I just don’t know, honey». Basically-she was annoyed that I was asking when it would be available next. It was ridiculous. Every time I’ve been there, it’s been available. Whatever-she was so rude. I guess we all have to suck it up bc their stuff is good?

I was a first time visitor to OCNJ this past weekend and ordered party platters for my husband’s 60th birthday. Veggie lasagne and meat lasagne was to die for. Hoagie platter and chicken finger platters were a big hit. Very fresh and delicious food, promptly delivered with a great presentation. I highly recommend.

I used to go to this place all the time and buy pounds and pounds of tuna salad. We would bring it home with us it was so good– the last year or two I have stopped buying it because it is more mayo than tuna. And their brownies are stale.

Love the party trays, we ordered them for our kids graduation party, the chicken tender trays were outstanding!

Great takeout, great cold cuts & perfect stop for a quick grocery trip. My only complaint is parking.

Really enjoyed the selection in the store and prices were fair. Also the deli and take out service is good.

Went for Take-Out today. Ordered 4 Hoagies straight off the menu — nothing special. Waited 30 mins. Other people’s orders came out before mine — I was first one there. One of two things happened: either they misplaced my order, or the locals got preferential treatment(the latter I think was the case). When I asked what was the holdup, all I got was, «They’re working on it.» Rolls not great. Will go elsewhere next time.

NEWLOCATIONON55ST. The take out dinners r the bomb. I’ve had lasagna n sirloin tips n noodles. Both very good n nice sized. I got a side salad n a ton of fries for my sides. Think this place will b a regular stop on week nights. Sandwiches n steaks looked good too. Plenty of meats.

High market that looks like it stocks some pretty good items. came here for produce so I cannot comment on anything else, but I liked the layout and will definitely return to try some of their food.

An over-priced, overrated store. I love their Philly cheesesteaks but you can buy one for half the price at Primo’s for the same quality. It is right across the street from my house and down a few shops so I’m really just paying for the convenience.

Great deli, butcher and prepared food section! Their Italian hoagie is excellent! The cheesesteak is just OK. The grocery section is a tad expensive but, that’s expected and understandable for a place like this! They really have most if what you’d need for a stay at the shore. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never had a bad thing to say! Oh and they’re open year round!

I’m giving this four stars, just because they’re not a ‘five star’ restaurant — but if comparing to similar markets, I’d give it a five! As others have said, this is a small market in size, but it has a nice selection for above-average beach needs — cereals, fresh breads, produce, canned goods, a small dairy case, etc. There is also a fresh meat counter that looks lovely, though I haven’t used it. The pre-made salads are average, though their macaroni salad is my absolute favorite. It has a mayo-based dressing with tiny pieces of diced vegetables(carrots, celery, peppers, etc.). This is not to be confused with the pasta salad that is vinegar-based. I’ve had the sandwich platter served both in a meeting of our condo owners, and also had one delivered for Night in Venice, and both were fresh and very good — a variety of three different sandwiches(chicken salad, roast beef, and ham and cheese), with condiments in the center(mayo and mustard, onions, lettuce, etc.). We’ve also enjoyed the broasted chicken — just labeled fried on the menu, but it is broasted. Only thing annoying, and it’s true in every place that I’ve found so far on the island that sells buckets of chicken, is that if you get four pieces, you have no choice, e.g., all dark meat. Every four pieces includes a breast, thigh, wing, and drumstick. Yes, as others have said, they’re on the expensive side, but let’s face it, that’s why they call them convenience stores. If you only need to pick up a few things, or you’re looking for prepared foods, this is a better option than the local SuperFresh — with no offense to the grocery store.

Broasted chicken! That’s all you need to know. Do u like fried chicken that’s not fried? Well you’ve come to the right place. I believe this place is a butcher and grocery store but I’ve only ordered broasted chicken several times. Delicious and we always order extra to take back to NY when in Ocean City.

Always used to get the chicken platters for Ocean City Field Hockey psych dinners. They’re unreal. Now I want to find an excuse to get it. The honey mustard and buffalo tenders are the best, but it’s like picking favorite children – they’re all honestly outstanding.

stopped here for sandwiches one day. not worth the hype in that area. we stood around for 5 mins before someone would bother to ask us what we wanted, and there was no line-we were just about the only people in the store. they took our orders-simple sandwiches from their own menu, nothing fancy. it took them about 30 mins to make 2 sandwiches… while we waited we had the honor of listening to the girls who work there figure out how to say«this place sucks» in italian. should i have taken that as an omen? when we FINALLY got our food, i was disappointed. at least they got my order right. but it was WAY overpriced. i could have gotten the same sandwich with much better ingredients for half the price almost anywhere else. the lettuce was soaking wet. barely any tomato or meat. at least they were generous with the fresh mozz… maybe this place is good to stop if you need deli or butcher items, or some of the other grocery things they sell. but it’s not worth it for their sandwich menu.

Now you need to remember that for the locals this place is an entire grocery store,(without many options) but their claim to fame is being a butcher. The meats that they have are always excellent. They will cut up anything for you to take home and grill out. Awesome meatballs, filets, filet tips and many others. Piccinis uses their meatballs and even says it on the menu because we hold Boyars in high regard in this city. They also have numerous prepared food items, pastas, vegetables, meats and others. I DONOT recommend these. I honestly have tried almost all of them and to be honest it is rare to find good ones. They just sit out for a while and most people who live in Ocean City all year are much older and don’t have the«taste» for good food anymore. The locals are blinded with their love for the place so they won’t eat anywhere else. Best butcher around though for sure

We have returned from a week in a four room apartment with 10 people in Ocean City, New Jersey. The situation was only prevented from turning into a episode of Survivor where they slowly sacrifice teammates one by one to survive in the wild by Boyer’s Market. Just a block away from the Oceanic homesyead, this tiny yet convenient and well stocked grocery and takeout market had everything we needed to feed the«competitors» for the week. One day I stopped in four different times through the course of the day. Oh so easy and it always had everything I needed– soft pretzels, chicken nuggets, deli meats for the nonvegetarians, some vegan choices for the lone teenage vegan, bread, strawberries… Prices are higher than I like to pay but to keep the food going(which frankly with 8 starving kids is a big part of my «vacation») I gladly paid them. Staff is friendly too…
