I recommend coming here during happy hour. Not only do they have a great happy hour drink specials bit they do ½ off apps during this time as well. I really didn’t care for the coconut shrimp. I hate to say this but I have had better. The best thing we ate during happy hour was the fried green tomato caprese.

Nice happy hour. Had good prices for apps and drinks. The fried green tomato caprese was tasty. Nice mix up from the regular caprese

This family owned restaurant offers the best dinning experience on Fire Island. My family and I eat at Bocce twice a week for the last ten years during the summer season and have never had a bad meal. The hostess, Dana, is always accommodating even at the last minute and also makes our guests feel right at home. The menu is varied enough to please all different palates and the service is always with a smile. If we aren’t grilling at home, we are at Bocce Beach!

Decent first bar of the night type spot. It doesn’t ever really get crowded here and it is easy to get a drink. I can’t comment on the food at all.

It’s a shame that one rude employee can put such a horrible taste in my mouth… this review is about Dana(which I think is an alias name she gives out when there’s an issue and not actually her real name). «Dana» appears to hate her life and in turn misery loves company. We made a reservation days before and were sat in the corner by a busing station. There were many other tables available, the restaurant was not busy, so we asked if we could sit at a better table. «Dana» responded that we could sit at that table we were given or we could leave. We asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the acting manager. The waiter came over and was very nice, as was the bartender and the bus boys. Feeling upset at how awful she was, and not believing her, we called the restaurant to see if the owner or manager was there. Dana responded«is this table 23?» At this point, we inquired again, suggesting a solution… and again, I stress, there were other tables to sit at. At this point«Dana» got really nasty and again said just leave. Being that is was Labor Day weekend and the restaurant was not even half way full, I’m guessing«Dana» just didn’t care how she treated customers and drove others away as well. I’m hoping she’s not there next season, but I won’t be going back either way. My advice for management is to be careful who you put in charge and train all employees in customer service and hire people who have common sense and manners. I’ve told all of my friends, Facebook friends, acquaintances, and now Unilocal what a horrible experience my friends and I had. I can’t speak for the food, because I left before ordering. Shame on Bocce for hiring such an incompetent, nasty woman and putting her in charge.

I can’t even write a review about the food because I wasn’t able to eat there. We arrived early for our reservation and was seated promptly. We asked the hostess if we could switch tables since we were early. She said it was not possible and when asked why since all the other tables were empty, she immediately said with an attitude if you don’t like your table you can leave. Insulted by her poor manners we asked for a manager apparently the hostess was the acting manager. Dana, acting manager needs a lesson in customer service. Her attitude is unacceptable and hope she is treated poorly at her next restaurant experience. We managed to get a table at castaways and left promptly. I’ll certainly never go back again.

My friends and I dined European-style(after 9pm) on a Saturday night in August, sitting out on the porch while enjoying our RocketFuels and burgers. The food was pretty decent, but nothing spectacular. And the restaurant isn’t on the water, but does have a lot of great opportunities for people-watching in Ocean Beach. Our server was incredibly patient and awesome… especially as we kept placing last minute orders as the kitchen was closing at 10pm. We left before the restaurant/bar turned into a club, but did have a lot of fun!

The best bartenders on Fire Island! and the food is delicious. Steak bistro appetizer rocks the house. The salmon entrée is perfect every time I order it. If you like dessert, you MUST order the brownie sundae and nutella won tons — TO. DIE. FOR. It seems like a lot of the reviewers for this place don’t know Fire Island very well. Ocean Beach, where Bocce is located, is the most popular and bustling community in all of Fire Island. The restaurants are all crowded with random drunk people. All of the restaurants turn into late night spots after dinner service, so you’re bound to see the swarms of twenty-somethings descending upon the town if you’re eating late enough.

My wife and I visited last Thursday to watch the Yankees/Red Sox and Ravens/Broncos games. Met Mike the bartender, who is a great guy, makes great drinks, and engaged us in conversation. We came back yesterday with our son for wings and burgers for Sunday afternoon football, and both were excellent. In fact, their wings are among the best we’ve had in all of L.I. Great big fun place.

We sat on the deck outside and had the three course«taste of fire island» menu. The salad and New England clam chowder were very good. I got a crab stuffed filet of sole special that was a little overcooked, but my boyfriend had the tuna barron which was delicious. Location is not as nice as others on fire island, as its not waterfront.

Had dinner for four here last night on the deck outside. Reservations during the summer on weekends are helpful with the weekend visitors that come over by ferry. Appetizers were the crab corn chowder and Shrimb Bruschetta. Had the Barron Tuna and Striped Bass which were both very good. Played a round of darts inside after dinner.

While approaching Bocce, I was initially thinking we had finally found a sweet spot that had more class than flynns, less drunks than maguires and a modern, clean and relaxing looking porch ! After being seated, my idea of a quiet relaxing dinner was soon crushed by a loud inebriated harem of women that egressed to the porch. Our time was made even less pleasant when we discovered that our waitress flat out hated life. Seriously, if you don’t like your job and refuse to do it well, DON’T SHOWUPFORWORK! She had: 1) The personality of a door knob. 2) The speed of a three toed sloth. 3) The attitude of a teenager that just had her cell phone taken away by daddy. She was short, curt, and neither brought bread or water(even when asked). When we moved tables to escape the 90 decibel roar of the drunks she seemed to ignore us till the very end. A more personable, helpful waitress took her place temporarily. Ugh, on to the food… We started with the Chicken Satay(a special that day) and found it tough, leathery and not quite like what you’d expect a satay to be like. Hello, peanut sauce, anyone? It was lightly drizzled with a hoisin-teriyaki-like sauce. Meh, no thanks. The Cervice(another special) was contrastingly flavorful and tantalizing to the taste buds. It has a pleasantly mild spice with a hint of tartness. The onions and chives in the cervice complemented the fish. Served with crunchy plantains. The Pan Seared salmon was served with a simple shrimp bruschetta. The verdict was good among us. This dish confirmed my beliefs that Bocce does indeed use high quality ingredients. We ordered it cooked rare, which isn’t completely to my liking(not my choice) but it turned out great. Mojito Fail: Is it me or what? I cant seem to get a good Mojito on fire island! Bocce served me one with a tiny, uncrushed mint leaves. Respect the mint, shake and crush it up! By the time we had finished picking away at our food and shooting the breeze,(maybe 10:15pm?) the loud crowd was in full effect and the staff was packing up and moving all the tables to the corner. Erm, guess that was out cue to leave. So much for relaxing on the porch with a cocktail. I realized I misinterpreted Bocce. It wasn’t quite the haven we had been searching for… by 9:30 it was quickly turning into every other place in Ocean Beach.

This place can’t help where it’s located(trashy corner of a trashy strip in a trashy town that blemishes Fire Island), nor can it help its clientele. That said… this was the only place that wasn’t loud and having belligerent drunks being kicked out of it at 9 p. m…and the only place where the menu wasn’t primarily fettucini alfredo or skirt steak for $ 38 a plate. A badass female manager in a turquoise dress told us on the down low that we could get cheeseburgers at the bar. The bartender was surprised by this, but took the news in stride, and produced surprisingly delicious cheddar cheeseburgers from the kitchen, cooked precisely to order(my friend’s medium-rare patty was exactly 75% as pink as my rare patty), along with stiff frozen margaritas that helped dull the pain of waiting for the next ferry OUTOFTHERE. Together, we paid $ 74 after tax and tip for our burgers&fries with two margaritas each. Not sure how we felt about that, but the quality of the food and bev was such that we weren’t going to start a riot or anything. I will try my best to never visit Ocean Beach again… but I’ll remember the burger from Bocce’s.

Walking into Bocce Beach you can see that this establishment has been given a facelift with it’s strategically placed nautical motifs. But, with most cosmetic fixes, it leaves you feeling that the character and charm with age has been wiped clean from the plate. We sat at the bar and decided to sample a seafood standard, Crab Cakes(fairly priced at $ 11.00). Service was efficient, but lacked interaction from our bar tender, which matched our first impression of the restaurant. Two hot Crab Cakes came out of the kitchen, unfortunately on a cold plate, which doesn’t help to keep the food warm. The crab cakes were served with a pankco breading(Japanese breadcrumb) and a citrus mayo dip. All around we found the crab cake itself to be enjoyable. Although, we would have preferred a little less salt, which over powered our palette at times read more at

We thought this place was great for it’s $ 5 margaritas. Before the beach, we saw the sign outside and figured let’s go grab a quick drink a the bar. Afterwards we wanted to have some dinner before heading back to the ferry and came back. We ordered the breadbowl clam chowder which was just ok. I’m not really a fan of soup inside bread, my boyfriend ordered it and I figured I’d give it a try. We shared two appetizers the ahi seared tuna, which was just ok. I’ve had better. The second appetizer was the coconut crusted shrimp which wasn’t good at all. It was so fried! Yes you should expect that with an appetizer like that, but I’ve had much better and lightly fried coconut shrimp before. We felt a little sick when we left. I would only go back for the margaritas.
