TSA Checkpoint Terminal 2 – Oakland International Airport

This checkpoint is ridiculous!!! TSA pre check was closed and the lines were backed up out the doors by baggage claim. When I asked if I could go to Terminal 1 they said sure but lied and said the wait would be the same. I went to T1 and no one was in line. If this checkpoint is ever backed up go to the other terminal, it’s all connected on the other side.

These folks are just «doing their job». I get it. The way they treat travelers is not personal. Being serious with security matters is fine, but being rude is not and they are consistently rude. Efficiency is inconsistent as the lines can seriously lag on some days.
The «officers» also have inconsistent practices. They’ve let me bring a 6oz bottle of shampoo but would confiscate a small jar of peanut butter.
An overall lack of professionalism from this band of flashlight cops.

Pre check lane had two people checking id’s but only one x-​ray lane. I checked website the day before departure and confirmed I could have my epi-​pen and liquid allergy medication examined without going through the x-​ray. At the lane I’m told if I don’t want it x-​rayed then I have to be patted down and have a physical inspection of everything. I wish the website warned me about that and I wish I asked for a supervisor.

Missed my flight thanks to the genius that put one person on duty, servicing 3 lines. One for prescreened, one for families, and one for the 98%ers, like me. Above all else lines one and two must be cleared first. As they probably are WAY more important and pay WAY more taxes than me, equality and justice for who? The 2%? Yes I did write the IRS a 5 figure check after paying my regular taxes!!!

I am very hard-​pressed to give any government-​run entity anything more than 2 stars. Usually the personnel is not very friendly and like to wield their power over us serfs that have no choice but to use their services. They have no competition, and therefore have no incentive to provide excellent service. There is no «carrot», nor is there a «whip.» I always opt out of the scanning, so I have to get a pat-​down every time. The people who do that I would say I would usually give 4 stars.

Best service I’ve ever had with the friendliest TSA agent ever, he was helpful and kind. We got through fast and all TSA agents were helpful and kind.

It was a dark and stormy Monday. It was 11:30am. The entire terminal was empty except for 30 TSA Officers waiting to go through my stuff and pat me down. After my pat down my self esteem was lifted but my socks were dirty from walking on the dusty floor.
I feel so much safer that I took off my shoes and lifted my hand above my head in the scan-​o-​matic
