I came in looking for help to get a stuck crank pulley bolt off. My go-​to mechanic shop is out of business. Joey is one of few mechanics that I could trust working on my car. He got the bolt off in no time. Performance Options will be my new go-​to shop. Thanks Joey and Ed!

Joey and Ed at Performance Options are pretty much the only people I trust to work on my AE86. They did an amazing job on my motor swap; to the point where it looks like it came this way from the factory. A couple months after the swap was completed, my engine check light came on. They asked me to bring the car in, checked it out and fixed the problem without charging me. I’ve had a couple other issues randomly occur over the past couple years, but Joey and Ed are always happy to check my car out and offer very reasonable prices to fix it. They are extremely knowledgeable and honest people.

Joey is the only mechanic I trust to work on my car, simply put, my car will be fixed right the first time. I had my transmission fail In my 2000 Honda Accord, I didn’t have the time to replace it myself so I hired Joey to work on my cherished car. I’ve owned the car since May of 2000 and currently have 419,356 miles on the original engine. Here’s my secret, I listen, when Joey gives me advice on how to maintain my vehicle I take his advice and implement it! His knowledge has yet to let me down. He’s been wrenching on my cars for the past 26 years, still my go to guy, still the best!

A nice performance auto shop in Oakland. Had my alignment done by Joey and he was able to get 2 degrees of front camber while other shops claimed they couldn’t. Had an issue with the rear toe not being able to be adjusted to my specs but he told me come back if it was bothering me. Decided to bring it back and he spent a bit more time on it and he fixed it free of charge. Very friendly guy.

Stopped by Performance Options and had a great time! Joey is a class-​act, hard working and trustworthy tuner and I’ll be back for some dyno tuning hopefully soon! Highly recommend Performance Options to anyone in the bay area!

I have a crazy resto-​mod 1970s Toyota Celica with an S2000 engine and transmission.
I bought it a year ago from a would-​be drifter in San Diego who had slammed the car, installed the cheapest ITBs available, poorly tuned an AEM chip, and left in the failing stock Celica rear-​end even though it had no way of handling the much greater power of the S2000 engine. It was a mess.
Joey and crew worked with me to turn it from an abomination to a proper — no, EPIC — road rally car and did so in a professional, reliable, timely and predictable manner.
Performance Options is the ONLY place in the Bay Area I’ll ever bring vintage Japanese sports or rally cars. I recommend you do the same!

I’ve taken my oil-​burning/​leaking 93 corolla for service. Had major work done on the little gas saver and it’s still running great and stronger than ever at 200,000 miles+! Aside from feeling comfortable with bringing my daily commuter car to a performance shop, these guys know pretty much Any car. And they’re all great folks willing to help!
I have a ’73 240Z that has been through the shop for years now, and I have nothing but great things to say about Joey and the team. I’ve had triple webers/​intake manifold installed with everything from the fuel pump/​regulator added, to spring and control arm work done; I’ve had tension rods and steering work done, 4-​to-​5-​speed transmission conversion completed, diff and transmission fluid changed, interior window-​work and exterior fender mirrors installed and headlight covers installed, minor touch-​up work to little scratches and I have oil changed there when need be. The list goes on and continues to go on — before this speedshop, I was dependent on advice and assistance from Red Star Racing (circa early 2000s) and Performance Options easily replaced my needs when RSR closed down.

I recently purchased an early 70’s Celica as a fun project vehicle. I bought the car sight unseen from out of state and had it shipped to the Bay area. I searched on various car forums and found Performance Options mentioned several times as the only place to bring your 70’s-80’s Japanese classic cars if you live in Norcal (SF Bay area).
I called them early in the morning to arrange an appointment and they were able to accommodate my hectic work schedule. Eddy and Joey definitely know their 1^st generation Toyota Celicas’. They gave my Celica a thorough inspection and listed the maintenance items in order of urgency from a safety and reliability standpoint.
I felt much better about my sight unseen purchase after having these guys inspect the car. Just from talking to them, they are obviously passionate about these cars.
From checking out the ongoing projects in the workshop, not only are they capable of performing routine maintenance and repair but they do quite a bit of performance related upgrades as well.
Knowledge, competence, and friendliness combined with fair pricing for parts and labor have earned these guys a satisfied customer!

As far as the car, and what you sold me, you, Bunnia and your relatives know otherwise. Not sure how you can sit behind a computer and blatantly lie and try to say your shop had nothing to do with this sale.
THE FACTS ARE YOU AND YOUR SHOP FRAUDUALENTLY SOLD ME A CAR UNDER FALSE PRETENSES. You knew the subframe was bent, you knew the car had been hit, you knew it was a leaky mess and you didnt disclose any of it.
By doing so you broke the law, what do you think the paperwork just disappears???
The Consumer Affairs DA of Alameda County and the Automotive Repair Board agrees as well. I have pink slips, documentation, the broken subframe and all the documentation I need to slam dunk your shop.

Had my alignment done here right before the sonoma drift event. Supposedly my car is the lowest car to ever have been put on their alignment rack. It took them almost 15 minutes to put it on the rack but they finally got it on. Alignment was on point and I left a happy camper. Thank you joey for the alignment! Will be back for the next!

Let me start off by saying that I am the unfortunate owner of a 98 Honda civic that has given me more headaches than I can count…
With that being said, my first impression of this place was simply «wow». I came in after seeing not one, not two, but THREE different mechanics for sensors and crap that my car needed replaced. Before I even popped my hood, one of the mechanics ran a description of the history of my car and asked if he guessed the problem. Which he did. He then went ahead and did his own inspection of the car n told me some things I’m gonna have to look out for as time passes for my car.
It feels FANTASTIC to know your car is in expert hands after going through sooo many mechanics.
My car is old and it wasn’t maintained properly before I bought it so I’m most likely gonna keep having problems but there is no doubt about it, I’m coming back to this place.

Performance Options does great work but i haven’t been to them for awhile. cuz i need my wheels in a short period of time. they are just that busy…
these guys hail from a mechanic who worked for bill louie in chitown. when bill retired. the mechanic and his family opened this shop. i’ve never been disappointed with their work. it just seems to take some time for them to get the work done.

I figured I would give these guys a try since they had a decent rating and were close to my job. Biggest mistake this year, mechanics like this are the reason all mechanics get a bad rap let me explain why.
I brought my car to these guys and told them the issue, they called told me what the problem was and gave me a price, I told them to go ahead and do the work. When I arrived they said everything’s fine it is fixed no problem. But the problem was not fixed and when I took it back they did extra work without asking me and told me I wasn’t getting my car until I paid them! No one called to ask permission to start new work, they just did it and tried to hold my car hostage. Now I am stuck with a malfunctioning car that I paid to have fixed already, now I must pay an honest shop to do the work correctly.

This is the only place I can take my car and not feel that I’m being ripped off or over charged. These mechanics are really honest and very professional. As a woman, other places I’ve taken my car I had to deal with creepy nasty guys who try to get me to get unnecessary work done. At Performance Options they diagnosed my car, gave me a quote and called me when its was ready!

I have taken my 83′ corolla here a few times now, leaving every time highly satisfied and wanting to share my great experience with this shop. Joey and his crew here are honest and fast paced workers. They do services from performance modifications to general repairs to all types of cars, not just import.
Here is a fine example of what this shop offers that makes you feel your car is in good hands. You bring your car in for one thing, its typical for an old car that it needs repair done on other things. They spotted these malfunctions on my car (which some were due to me, and also the fact that the car is just old) and offer a solution that doesn’t cost a fortune, and let me tell you those things they found were crucial for my cars longevity.
For those people who are looking for upgrades for their cars, they can do custom exhaust to suspension much more. They are even friendly to suggest what types of parts you should look for to get your car exactly how you want it.

Love these guys. I brought them my datsun 510 and they did a great job with tune-​up stuff (oil, timing, etc), mods (adapting an electronic thermostat), and structural repairs (welding in floor supports that had been removed). Fair prices and excellent personal service.
